Provérbios 16
|
| The plans of the heart belong to man; But the answer of the tongue is from Jehovah. | Ao homem pertencem os planos do coração; mas a resposta da língua é do Senhor. |
| All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; But Jehovah weigheth the spirits. | Todos os caminhos do homem são limpos aos seus olhos; mas o Senhor pesa os espíritos. |
| Commit thy works unto Jehovah, And thy purposes shall be established. | Entrega ao Senhor as tuas obras, e teus desígnios serão estabelecidos. |
| Jehovah hath made everything for its own end; Yea, even the wicked for the day of evil. | O Senhor fez tudo para um fim; sim, até o ímpio para o dia do mal. |
| Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to Jehovah: [Though] hand [join] in hand, he shall not be unpunished. | Todo homem arrogante é abominação ao Senhor; certamente não ficará impune. |
| By mercy and truth iniquity is atoned for; And by the fear of Jehovah men depart from evil. | Pela misericórdia e pela verdade expia-se a iniqüidade; e pelo temor do Senhor os homens se desviam do mal. |
| When a man's ways please Jehovah, He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. | Quando os caminhos do homem agradam ao Senhor, faz que até os seus inimigos tenham paz com ele. |
| Better is a little, with righteousness, Than great revenues with injustice. | Melhor é o pouco com justiça, do que grandes rendas com injustiça. |
| A man's heart deviseth his way; But Jehovah directeth his steps. | O coração do homem propõe o seu caminho; mas o Senhor lhe dirige os passos. |
| A divine sentence is in the lips of the king; His mouth shall not transgress in judgment. | Nos lábios do rei acham-se oráculos; em juízo a sua boca não prevarica. |
| A just balance and scales are Jehovah's; All the weights of the bag are his work. | O peso e a balança justos são do Senhor; obra sua são todos os pesos da bolsa. |
| It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness; For the throne is established by righteousness. | Abominação é para os reis o praticarem a impiedade; porque com justiça se estabelece o trono. |
| Righteous lips are the delight of kings; And they love him that speaketh right. | Lábios justos são o prazer dos reis; e eles amam aquele que fala coisas retas. |
| The wrath of a king is [as] messengers of death; But a wise man will pacify it. | O furor do rei é mensageiro da morte; mas o homem sábio o aplacará. |
| In the light of the king's countenance is life; And his favor is as a cloud of the latter rain. | Na luz do semblante do rei está a vida; e o seu favor é como a nuvem de chuva serôdia. |
| How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! Yea, to get understanding is rather to be chosen than silver. | Quanto melhor é adquirir a sabedoria do que o ouro! e quanto mais excelente é escolher o entendimento do que a prata! |
| The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: He that keepeth his way preserveth his soul. | A estrada dos retos desvia-se do mal; o que guarda o seu caminho preserva a sua vida. |
| Pride [goeth] before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall. | A soberba precede a destruição, e a altivez do espírito precede a queda. |
| Better it is to be of a lowly spirit with the poor, Than to divide the spoil with the proud. | Melhor é ser humilde de espírito com os mansos, do que repartir o despojo com os soberbos. |
| He that giveth heed unto the word shall find good; And whoso trusteth in Jehovah, happy is he. | O que atenta prudentemente para a palavra prosperará; e feliz é aquele que confia no Senhor. |
| The wise in heart shall be called prudent; And the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning. | O sábio de coração será chamado prudente; e a doçura dos lábios aumenta o saber. |
| Understanding is a well-spring of life unto him that hath it; But the correction of fools is [their] folly. | O entendimento, para aquele que o possui, é uma fonte de vida, porém a estultícia é o castigo dos insensatos. |
| The heart of the wise instructeth his mouth, And addeth learning to his lips. | O coração do sábio instrui a sua boca, e aumenta o saber nos seus lábios. |
| Pleasant words are [as] a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. | Palavras suaves são como favos de mel, doçura para a alma e saúde para o corpo. |
| There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, But the end thereof are the ways of death. | Há um caminho que ao homem parece direito, mas o fim dele conduz à morte. |
| The appetite of the laboring man laboreth for him; For his mouth urgeth him [thereto]. | O apetite do trabalhador trabalha por ele, porque a sua fome o incita a isso. |
| A worthless man deviseth mischief; And in his lips there is as a scorching fire. | O homem vil suscita o mal; e nos seus lábios há como que um fogo ardente. |
| A perverse man scattereth abroad strife; And a whisperer separateth chief friends. | O homem perverso espalha contendas; e o difamador separa amigos íntimos. |
| A man of violence enticeth his neighbor, And leadeth him in a way that is not good. | O homem violento alicia o seu vizinho, e guia-o por um caminho que não é bom. |
| He that shutteth his eyes, [it is] to devise perverse things: He that compresseth his lips bringeth evil to pass. | Quando fecha os olhos fá-lo para maquinar perversidades; quando morde os lábios, efetua o mal. |
| The hoary head is a crown of glory; It shall be found in the way of righteousness. | Coroa de honra são as cãs, a qual se obtém no caminho da justiça. |
| He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; And he that ruleth his spirit, than he that taketh a city. | Melhor é o longânimo do que o valente; e o que domina o seu espírito do que o que toma uma cidade. |
| The lot is cast into the lap; But the whole disposing thereof is of Jehovah. | A sorte se lança no regaço; mas do Senhor procede toda a disposição dela. |
