| But him that is weak in faith receive ye, [yet] not for decision of scruples. | Quanto a colui che è debole nella fede, accoglietelo, ma non per discutere opinioni. |
| One man hath faith to eat all things: but he that is weak eateth herbs. | L’uno crede di poter mangiare di tutto, mentre l’altro, che è debole, mangia legumi. |
| Let not him that eateth set at nought him that eateth not; and let not him that eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. | Colui che mangia di tutto, non sprezzi colui che non mangia di tutto; e colui che non mangia di tutto, non giudichi colui che mangia di tutto: perché Dio l’ha accolto. |
| Who art thou that judgest the servant of another? to his own lord he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be made to stand; for the Lord hath power to make him stand. | Chi sei tu che giudichi il domestico altrui? Se sta in piedi o se cade è cosa che riguarda il suo padrone; ma egli sarà tenuto in piè, perché il Signore è potente da farlo stare in piè. |
| One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day [alike]. Let each man be fully assured in his own mind. | L’uno stima un giorno più d’un altro; l’altro stima tutti i giorni uguali; sia ciascuno pienamente convinto nella propria mente. |
| He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord: and he that eateth, eateth unto the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, unto the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks. | Chi ha riguardo al giorno, lo fa per il Signore; e chi mangia di tutto, lo fa per il Signore, perché rende grazie a Dio; e chi non mangia di tutto fa così per il Signore, e rende grazie a Dio. |
| For none of us liveth to himself, and none dieth to himself. | Poiché nessuno di noi vive per se stesso, e nessuno muore per se stesso; |
| For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; or whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. | perché, se viviamo, viviamo per il Signore; e se moriamo, moriamo per il Signore; sia dunque che viviamo o che moriamo, noi siamo del Signore. |
| For to this end Christ died and lived [again], that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living. | Poiché a questo fine Cristo è morto ed è tornato in vita: per essere il Signore e de’ morti e de’ viventi. |
| But thou, why dost thou judge thy brother? or thou again, why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment-seat of God. | Ma tu, perché giudichi il tuo fratello? E anche tu, perché disprezzi il tuo fratello? Poiché tutti compariremo davanti al tribunale di Dio; |
| For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, to me every knee shall bow, And every tongue shall confess to God. | infatti sta scritto: Com’io vivo, dice il Signore, ogni ginocchio si piegherà davanti a me, ed ogni lingua darà gloria a Dio. |
| So then each one of us shall give account of himself to God. | Così dunque ciascun di noi renderà conto di se stesso a Dio. |
| Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge ye this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock in his brother's way, or an occasion of falling. | Non ci giudichiamo dunque più gli uni gli altri, ma giudicate piuttosto che non dovete porre pietra d’inciampo sulla via del fratello, né essergli occasione di caduta. |
| I know, and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean of itself: save that to him who accounteth anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. | Io so e son persuaso nel Signor Gesù che nessuna cosa è impura in se stessa; però se uno stima che una cosa è impura, per lui è impura. |
| For if because of meat thy brother is grieved, thou walkest no longer in love. Destroy not with thy meat him for whom Christ died. | Ora, se a motivo di un cibo il tuo fratello è contristato, tu non procedi più secondo carità. Non perdere, col tuo cibo, colui per il quale Cristo è morto! |
| Let not then your good be evil spoken of: | Il privilegio che avete, non sia dunque oggetto di biasimo; |
| for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. | perché il regno di Dio non consiste in vivanda né in bevanda, ma è giustizia, pace ed allegrezza nello Spirito Santo. |
| For he that herein serveth Christ is well-pleasing to God, and approved of men. | Poiché chi serve in questo a Cristo, è gradito a Dio e approvato dagli uomini. |
| So then let us follow after things which make for peace, and things whereby we may edify one another. | Cerchiamo dunque le cose che contribuiscono alla pace e alla mutua edificazione. |
| Overthrow not for meat's sake the work of God. All things indeed are clean; howbeit it is evil for that man who eateth with offence. | Non disfare, per un cibo, l’opera di Dio. Certo, tutte le cose son pure ma è male quand’uno mangia dando intoppo. |
| It is good not to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor [to do anything] whereby thy brother stumbleth. | E’ bene non mangiar carne, né bever vino, né far cosa alcuna che possa esser d’intoppo al fratello. |
| The faith which thou hast, have thou to thyself before God. Happy is he that judgeth not himself in that which he approveth. | Tu, la convinzione che hai, serbala per te stesso dinanzi a Dio. Beato colui che non condanna se stesso in quello che approva. |
| But he that doubteth is condemned if he eat, because [he eateth] not of faith; and whatsoever is not of faith is sin. | Ma colui che sta in dubbio, se mangia è condannato, perché non mangia con convinzione; e tutto quello che non vien da convinzione è peccato. |
