Matteo 23:1 Allora Gesù parlò alle turbe e ai suoi discepoli,	Matthew 23:1 Then spake Jesus to the multitudes and to his disciples,
Matteo 23:2 dicendo: Gli scribi e i Farisei seggono sulla cattedra di Mosè.	Matthew 23:2 saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses seat:
Matteo 23:3 Fate dunque ed osservate tutte le cose che vi diranno, ma non fate secondo le opere loro; perché dicono e non fanno.	Matthew 23:3 all things therefore whatsoever they bid you, [these] do and observe: but do not ye after their works; for they say, and do not.
Matteo 23:4 Difatti, legano de’ pesi gravi e li mettono sulle spalle della gente; ma loro non li voglion muovere neppure col dito.	Matthew 23:4 Yea, they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with their finger.
Matteo 23:5 Tutte le loro opere le fanno per essere osservati dagli uomini; difatti allargano le lor filatterie ed allungano le frange de’ mantelli;	Matthew 23:5 But all their works they do to be seen of men: for they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders [of their garments],
Matteo 23:6 ed amano i primi posti ne’ conviti e i primi seggi nelle sinagoghe	Matthew 23:6 and love the chief place at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,
Matteo 23:7 e i saluti nelle piazze e d’esser chiamati dalla gente: "Maestro!"	Matthew 23:7 and the salutations in the marketplaces, and to be called of men, Rabbi.
Matteo 23:8 Ma voi non vi fate chiamar "Maestro", perché uno solo è il vostro maestro, e voi siete tutti fratelli.	Matthew 23:8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your teacher, and all ye are brethren.
Matteo 23:9 E non chiamate alcuno sulla terra vostro padre, perché uno solo è il Padre vostro, quello che è ne’ cieli.	Matthew 23:9 And call no man your father on the earth: for one is your Father, [even] he who is in heaven.
Matteo 23:10 E non vi fate chiamar guide, perché una sola è la vostra guida, il Cristo:	Matthew 23:10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your master, [even] the Christ.
Matteo 23:11 ma il maggiore fra voi sia vostro servitore.	Matthew 23:11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
Matteo 23:12 Chiunque s’innalzerà sarà abbassato, e chiunque si abbasserà sarà innalzato.	Matthew 23:12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be humbled; and whosoever shall humble himself shall be exalted.
Matteo 23:13 Ma guai a voi, scribi e Farisei ipocriti, perché serrate il regno de’ cieli dinanzi alla gente; poiché, né vi entrate voi, né lasciate entrare quelli che cercano di entrare.	Matthew 23:13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye shut the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye enter not in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering in to enter[.]
Matteo 23:14 Guai a voi, scribi e Farisei ipocriti, perché divorate le case delle vedove, e fate per apparenza lunghe orazioni; perciò riceverete maggior condanna.	Matthew 23:14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, even while for a pretence ye make long prayers: therefore ye shall receive greater condemnation.
Matteo 23:15 Guai a voi, scribi e Farisei ipocriti, perché scorrete mare e terra per fare un proselito; e fatto che sia, lo rendete figliuol della geenna il doppio di voi.	Matthew 23:15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he is become so, ye make him twofold more a son of hell than yourselves.
Matteo 23:16 Guai a voi, guide cieche, che dite: Se uno giura per il tempio, non è nulla; ma se giura per l’oro del tempio, resta obbligato.	Matthew 23:16 Woe unto you, ye blind guides, that say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor.
Matteo 23:17 Stolti e ciechi, poiché qual è maggiore: l’oro, o il tempio che santifica l’oro?	Matthew 23:17 Ye fools and blind: for which is greater, the gold, or the temple that hath sanctified the gold?
Matteo 23:18 E se uno, voi dite, giura per l’altare, non è nulla; ma se giura per l’offerta che c’è sopra, resta obbligato.	Matthew 23:18 And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gift that is upon it, he is a debtor.
Matteo 23:19 Ciechi, poiché qual è maggiore: l’offerta, o l’altare che santifica l’offerta?	Matthew 23:19 Ye blind: for which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?
Matteo 23:20 Chi dunque giura per l’altare, giura per esso e per tutto quel che c’è sopra;	Matthew 23:20 He therefore that sweareth by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.
Matteo 23:21 e chi giura per il tempio, giura per esso e per Colui che l’abita;	Matthew 23:21 And he that sweareth by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.
Matteo 23:22 e chi giura per il cielo, giura per il trono di Dio e per Colui che vi siede sopra.	Matthew 23:22 And he that sweareth by the heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.
Matteo 23:23 Guai a voi, scribi e Farisei ipocriti, perché pagate la decima della menta e dell’aneto e del comino, e trascurate le cose più gravi della legge: il giudicio, e la misericordia, e la fede. Queste son le cose che bisognava fare, senza tralasciar le altre.	Matthew 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye tithe mint and anise and cummin, and have left undone the weightier matters of the law, justice, and mercy, and faith: but these ye ought to have done, and not to have left the other undone.
Matteo 23:24 Guide cieche, che colate il moscerino e inghiottite il cammello.	Matthew 23:24 Ye blind guides, that strain out the gnat, and swallow the camel!
Matteo 23:25 Guai a voi, scribi e Farisei ipocriti, perché nettate il di fuori del calice e del piatto, mentre dentro son pieni di rapina e d’intemperanza.	Matthew 23:25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full from extortion and excess.
Matteo 23:26 Fariseo cieco, netta prima il di dentro del calice e del piatto, affinché anche il di fuori diventi netto.	Matthew 23:26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup and of the platter, that the outside thereof may become clean also.
Matteo 23:27 Guai a voi, scribi e Farisei ipocriti, perché siete simili a sepolcri imbiancati, che appaion belli di fuori, ma dentro son pieni d’ossa di morti e d’ogni immondizia.	Matthew 23:27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which outwardly appear beautiful, but inwardly are full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
Matteo 23:28 Così anche voi, di fuori apparite giusti alla gente; ma dentro siete pieni d’ipocrisia e d’iniquità.	Matthew 23:28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but inwardly ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
Matteo 23:29 Guai a voi, scribi e Farisei ipocriti, perché edificate i sepolcri ai profeti, e adornate le tombe de’ giusti e dite:	Matthew 23:29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and garnish the tombs of the righteous,
Matteo 23:30 Se fossimo stati ai dì de’ nostri padri, non saremmo stati loro complici nello spargere il sangue dei profeti!	Matthew 23:30 and say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we should not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
Matteo 23:31 Talché voi testimoniate contro voi stessi, che siete figliuoli di coloro che uccisero i profeti.	Matthew 23:31 Wherefore ye witness to yourselves, that ye are sons of them that slew the prophets.
Matteo 23:32 E voi, colmate pure la misura dei vostri padri!	Matthew 23:32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
Matteo 23:33 Serpenti, razza di vipere, come scamperete al giudizio della geenna?	Matthew 23:33 Ye serpents, ye offspring of vipers, how shall ye escape the judgment of hell?
Matteo 23:34 Perciò, ecco, io vi mando de’ profeti e de’ savi e degli scribi; di questi, alcuni ne ucciderete e metterete in croce; altri ne flagellerete nelle vostre sinagoghe e li perseguiterete di città in città,	Matthew 23:34 Therefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: some of them shall ye kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city:
Matteo 23:35 affinché venga su voi tutto il sangue giusto sparso sulla terra, dal sangue del giusto Abele, fino al sangue di Zaccaria, figliuol di Barachia, che voi uccideste fra il tempio e l’altare.	Matthew 23:35 that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of Abel the righteous unto the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom ye slew between the sanctuary and the altar.
Matteo 23:36 Io vi dico in verità che tutte queste cose verranno su questa generazione.	Matthew 23:36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.
Matteo 23:37 Gerusalemme, Gerusalemme, che uccidi i profeti e lapidi quelli che ti sono mandati, quante volte ho voluto raccogliere i tuoi figliuoli, come la gallina raccoglie i suoi pulcini sotto le ali; e voi non avete voluto!	Matthew 23:37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killeth the prophets, and stoneth them that are sent unto her! how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
Matteo 23:38 Ecco, la vostra casa sta per esservi lasciata deserta.	Matthew 23:38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.
Matteo 23:39 Poiché vi dico che d’ora innanzi non mi vedrete più, finché diciate: Benedetto colui che viene nel nome del Signore!	Matthew 23:39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed [is] he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
