| Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Nimm vor dich eine große Tafel und schreib darauf mit Menschengriffel: Raubebald, Eilebeute! | And the Lord said to me, Take a great writing-board, and on it put down in common letters, Maher-shalal-hash-baz; |
| Und ich nahm mir zwei treue Zeugen, den Priester Uria und Sacharja, den Sohn des Jeberechjas. | And take true witnesses to the writing, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah, the son of Jeberechiah. |
| Und ich ging zu der Prophetin; die ward schwanger und gebar einen Sohn. Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Nenne ihn Raubebald, Eilebeute! | And I went in to my wife, and she became with child, and gave birth to a son. Then the Lord said to me, Give him the name Maher-shalal-hash-baz, |
| Denn ehe der Knabe rufen kann: "Lieber Vater! liebe Mutter!", soll die Macht aus Damaskus und die Ausbeute Samarias weggenommen werden durch den König von Assyrien. | For before the child is able to say, Father, or, Mother, the wealth of Damascus and the goods of Samaria will be taken away by the king of Assyria. |
| Und der HERR redete weiter mit mir und sprach: | And the Lord said again to me, |
| Weil dieses Volk verachtet das Wasser zu Siloah, das stille geht, und tröstet sich des Rezin und des Sohnes Remaljas, | Because this people will have nothing to do with the softly-flowing waters of Shiloah, and have fear of Rezin and Remaliah's son; |
| siehe, so wird der HERR über sie kommen lassen starke und viele Wasser des Stromes, nämlich den König von Assyrien und alle seine Herrlichkeit, daß sie über alle ihre Bäche fahren und über alle Ufer gehen, | For this cause the Lord is sending on them the waters of the River, deep and strong, even the king of Assyria and all his glory: and it will come up through all its streams, overflowing all its edges: |
| und werden einreißen in Juda und schwemmen und überher laufen, bis daß sie an den Hals reichen, und werden ihre Flügel ausbreiten, daß sie dein Land, o Immanuel, füllen, soweit es ist. | And it will come on into Judah; rushing on and overflowing, till the waters are up to the neck; *** and his outstretched wings will be covering the land from side to side: for God is with us. |
| Seid böse, ihr Völker, und gebt doch die Flucht! Höret's alle, die ihr in fernen Landen seid! Rüstet euch, und gebt doch die Flucht; rüstet euch und gebt doch die Flucht! | Have knowledge, O peoples, and be in fear; give ear, all you far-off parts of the earth: |
| Beschließt einen Rat, und es werde nichts daraus; beredet euch, und es bestehe nicht; denn hier ist Immanuel. | Let your designs be formed, and they will come to nothing; give your orders, and they will not be effected: for God is with us. |
| Denn so sprach der HERR zu mir, da seine Hand über mich kam und unterwies mich, daß ich nicht sollte wandeln auf dem Wege dieses Volkes, und sprach: | For the Lord, controlling me with a strong hand, gave me orders not to go in the way of this people, saying, |
| Ihr sollt nicht sagen: Bund. Dies Volk redet von nichts denn vom Bund. Fürchtet ihr euch nicht also, wie sie tun, und lasset euch nicht grauen; | Do not say, It is holy, about everything of which this people says, It is holy; and do not be in fear of what they go in fear of. |
| sondern heiliget den HERRN Zebaoth. Den lasset eure Furcht und Schrecken sein, | But let the Lord of armies be holy to you, and go in fear of him, giving honour to him. |
| so wird er ein Heiligtum sein, aber ein Stein des Anstoßes und ein Fels des Ärgernisses den beiden Häusern Israel, zum Strick und Fall den Bürgern zu Jerusalem, | And he will be for a holy place: but for a stone of falling and a rock of trouble to the two houses of Israel, and to the men of Jerusalem, for a net in which they may be taken. |
| daß ihrer viele sich daran stoßen, fallen, zerbrechen, verstrickt und gefangen werden. | And numbers of them, falling on the stone, will be broken, and will be taken in the net. |
| Binde zu das Zeugnis, versiegle das Gesetz meinen Jüngern. | Let my teaching be kept secret: and my words be given to my disciples only. |
| Denn ich hoffe auf den HERRN, der sein Antlitz verborgen hat vor dem Hause Jakob; ich aber harre sein. | And I will be waiting for the Lord, whose face is veiled from the house of Jacob, and I will be looking for him. |
| Siehe, hier bin ich und die Kinder, die mir der HERR gegeben hat zum Zeichen und Wunder in Israel vom HERRN Zebaoth, der auf dem Berge Zion wohnt. | See, I and the children whom the Lord has given me, are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the Lord of armies, whose resting-place is in Mount Zion. |
| Wenn sie aber zu euch sagen: Ihr müßt die Wahrsager und Zeichendeuter fragen, die da flüstern und murmeln so sprecht: Soll nicht ein Volk seinen Gott fragen, oder soll man die Toten für die Lebendigen fragen? | And when they say to you, Make request for us to those who have control of spirits, and to those wise in secret arts, who make hollow bird-like sounds; is it not right for a people to make request to their gods, to make request for the living to the dead? |
| Ja, nach dem Gesetz und Zeugnis! Werden sie das nicht sagen, so werden sie die Morgenröte nicht haben, | Then say to them, Put your faith in the teaching and the witness. ... If they do not say such things. ... For him there is no dawn. ... |
| sondern werden im Lande umhergehen, hart geschlagen und hungrig. Wenn sie aber Hunger leiden, werden sie zürnen und fluchen ihrem König und ihrem Gott | And he will go through the land in bitter trouble and in need of food; and when he is unable to get food, he will become angry, cursing his king and his God, and his eyes will be turned to heaven on high; |
| und werden über sich gaffen und unter sich die Erde ansehen und nichts finden als Trübsal und Finsternis; denn sie sind im Dunkel der Angst und gehen irre im Finstern. | And he will be looking down on the earth, and there will be trouble and dark clouds, black night where there is no seeing. |
