| I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. | Io sono la vera vite, e il Padre mio è il vignaiuolo. Ogni tralcio che in me non dà frutto, |
| Every branch in me that beareth not fruit, he taketh it away: and every [branch] that beareth fruit, he cleanseth it, that it may bear more fruit. | Egli lo toglie via; e ogni tralcio che dà frutto, lo rimonda affinché ne dia di più. |
| Already ye are clean because of the word which I have spoken unto you. | Voi siete già mondi a motivo della parola che v’ho annunziata. |
| Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; so neither can ye, except ye abide in me. | Dimorate in me, e io dimorerò in voi. Come il tralcio non può da sé dar frutto se non rimane nella vite, così neppur voi, se non dimorate in me. |
| I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same beareth much fruit: for apart from me ye can do nothing. | Io son la vite, voi siete i tralci. Colui che dimora in me e nel quale io dimoro, porta molto frutto; perché senza di me non potete far nulla. |
| If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. | Se uno non dimora in me, è gettato via come il tralcio, e si secca; cotesti tralci si raccolgono, si gettano nel fuoco e si bruciano. |
| If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatsoever ye will, and it shall be done unto you. | Se dimorate in me e le mie parole dimorano in voi, domandate quel che volete e vi sarà fatto. |
| Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; and [so] shall ye be my disciples. | In questo è glorificato il Padre mio: che portiate molto frutto, e così sarete miei discepoli. |
| Even as the Father hath loved me, I also have loved you: abide ye in my love. | Come il Padre mi ha amato, così anch’io ho amato voi; dimorate nel mio amore. |
| If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. | Se osservate i miei comandamenti, dimorerete nel mio amore; com’io ho osservato i comandamenti del Padre mio, e dimoro nel suo amore. |
| These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy may be in you, and [that] your joy may be made full. | Queste cose vi ho detto, affinché la mia allegrezza dimori in voi, e la vostra allegrezza sia resa completa. |
| This is my commandment, that ye love one another, even as I have loved you. | Questo è il mio comandamento: che vi amiate gli uni gli altri, come io ho amato voi. |
| Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. | Nessuno ha amore più grande che quello di dar la sua vita per i suoi amici. |
| Ye are my friends, if ye do the things which I command you. | Voi siete miei amici, se fate le cose che vi comando. |
| No longer do I call you servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I heard from my Father, I have made known unto you. | Io non vi chiamo più servi; perché il servo non sa quel che fa il suo signore; ma voi vi ho chiamati amici, perché vi ho fatto conoscere tutte le cose che ho udite dal Padre mio. |
| Ye did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that ye should go and bear fruit, and [that] your fruit should abide: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. | Non siete voi che avete scelto me, ma son io che ho scelto voi, e v’ho costituiti perché andiate, e portiate frutto, e il vostro frutto sia permanente; affinché tutto quel che chiederete al Padre nel mio nome, Egli ve lo dia. |
| These things I command you, that ye may love one another. | Questo vi comando: che vi amiate gli uni gli altri. |
| If the world hateth you, ye know that it hath hated me before [it hated] you. | Se il mondo vi odia, sapete bene che prima di voi ha odiato me. |
| If ye were of the world, the world would love its own: but because ye are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. | Se foste del mondo, il mondo amerebbe quel ch’è suo; ma perché non siete del mondo, ma io v’ho scelti di mezzo al mondo, perciò vi odia il mondo. |
| Remember the word that I said unto you, A servant is not greater than his lord. If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also. | Ricordatevi della parola che v’ho detta: Il servitore non è da più del suo signore. Se hanno perseguitato me, perseguiteranno anche voi; se hanno osservato la mia parola, osserveranno anche la vostra. |
| But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me. | Ma tutto questo ve lo faranno a cagion del mio nome, perché non conoscono Colui che m’ha mandato. |
| If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no excuse for their sin. | S’io non fossi venuto e non avessi loro parlato, non avrebbero colpa; ma ora non hanno scusa del loro peccato. |
| He that hateth me hateth my Father also. | Chi odia me, odia anche il Padre mio. |
| If I had not done among them the works which none other did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father. | Se non avessi fatto tra loro le opere che nessun altro ha fatte mai, non avrebbero colpa; ma ora le hanno vedute, ed hanno odiato e me e il Padre mio. |
| But [this cometh to pass], that the word may be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause. | Ma quest’è avvenuto affinché sia adempita la parola scritta nella loro legge: Mi hanno odiato senza cagione. |
| But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, [even] the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall bear witness of me: | Ma quando sarà venuto il Consolatore che io vi manderò da parte del Padre, lo Spirito della verità che procede dal Padre, egli testimonierà di me; |
| and ye also bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning. | e anche voi mi renderete testimonianza, perché siete stati meco fin dal principio. |
