| And Job made answer and said, | Y RESPONDIO Job, y dijo: |
| How long will you make my life bitter, crushing me with words? | ¿Hasta cuándo angustiaréis mi alma, Y me moleréis con palabras? |
| Ten times now you have made sport of me; it gives you no sense of shame to do me wrong. | Ya me habéis vituperado diez veces: ¿No os avergonzáis de descomediros delante de mí? |
| And, truly, if I have been in error, the effect of my error is only on myself. | Sea así que realmente haya yo errado, Conmigo se quedará mi yerro. |
| If you make yourselves great against me, using my punishment as an argument against me, | Mas si vosotros os engrandeciereis contra mí, Y adujereis contra mí mi oprobio, |
| Be certain that it is God who has done me wrong, and has taken me in his net. | Sabed ahora que Dios me ha trastornado, Y traído en derredor su red sobre mí. |
| Truly, I make an outcry against the violent man, but there is no answer: I give a cry for help, but no one takes up my cause. | He aquí yo clamaré agravio, y no seré oído: Daré voces, y no habrá juicio. |
| My way is walled up by him so that I may not go by: he has made my roads dark. | Cercó de vallado mi camino, y no pasaré; Y sobre mis veredas puso tinieblas. |
| He has put off my glory from me, and taken the crown from my head. | Hame despojado de mi gloria, Y quitado la corona de mi cabeza. |
| I am broken down by him on every side, and I am gone; my hope is uprooted like a tree. | Arruinóme por todos lados, y perezco; Y ha hecho pasar mi esperanza como árbol arrancado. |
| His wrath is burning against me, and I am to him as one of his haters. | E hizo inflamar contra mí su furor, Y contóme para sí entre sus enemigos. |
| His armies come on together, they make their road high against me, and put up their tents round mine. | Vinieron sus ejércitos á una, y trillaron sobre mí su camino, Y asentaron campo en derredor de mi tienda. |
| He has taken my brothers far away from me; they have seen my fate and have become strange to me. | Hizo alejar de mí mis hermanos, Y positivamente se extrañaron de mí mis conocidos. |
| My relations and my near friends have given me up, and those living in my house have put me out of their minds. | Mis parientes se detuvieron, Y mis conocidos se olvidaron de mí. |
| I am strange to my women-servants, and seem to them as one from another country. | Los moradores de mi casa y mis criadas me tuvieron por extraño; Forastero fuí yo en sus ojos. |
| At my cry my servant gives me no answer, and I have to make a prayer to him. | Llamé á mi siervo, y no respondió; De mi propia boca le suplicaba. |
| My breath is strange to my wife, and I am disgusting to the offspring of my mother's body. | Mi aliento vino á ser extraño á mi mujer, Aunque por los hijos de mis entrañas le rogaba. |
| Even young children have no respect for me; when I get up their backs are turned on me. | Aun los muchachos me menospreciaron: En levantándome, hablaban contra mí. |
| All the men of my circle keep away from me; and those dear to me are turned against me. | Todos mis confidentes me aborrecieron; Y los que yo amaba, se tornaron contra mí. |
| My bones are joined to my skin, and I have got away with my flesh in my teeth. | Mi cuero y mi carne se pegaron á mis huesos; Y he escapado con la piel de mis dientes. |

| And with an iron pen and lead be cut into the rock for ever! | ¡Que con cincel de hierro y con plomo Fuesen en piedra esculpidas para siempre! |
| But I am certain that he who will take up my cause is living, and that in time to come he will take his place on the dust; | Yo sé que mi Redentor vive, Y al fin se levantará sobre el polvo: |
| And ... without my flesh I will see God; | Y después de deshecha esta mi piel, Aun he de ver en mi carne á Dios; |
| Whom I will see on my side, and not as one strange to me. My heart is broken with desire. | Al cual yo tengo de ver por mí, Y mis ojos lo verán, y no otro, Aunque mis riñones se consuman dentro de mí. |
| If you say, How cruel we will be to him! because the root of sin is clearly in him: | Mas debierais decir: ¿Por qué lo perseguimos? Ya que la raíz del negocio en mí se halla. |
| Be in fear of the sword, for the sword is the punishment for such things, so that you may be certain that there is a judge. | Temed vosotros delante de la espada; Porque sobreviene el furor de la espada á causa de las injusticias, Para que sepáis que hay un juicio. |
