Proverbs 30:1 ^
The words of Agur, the son of Jakeh, from Massa. The man says: I am full of weariness, O God, I am full of weariness; O God, I have come to an end:

Proverbs 30:2 ^
For I am more like a beast than any man, I have no power of reasoning like a man:

Certes, je suis plus stupide que personne, Et je n`ai pas l`intelligence d`un homme;
Proverbs 30:3 ^
I have not got wisdom by teaching, so that I might have the knowledge of the Holy One.
Proverbes 30:3 ^
Je n`ai pas appris la sagesse, Et je ne connais pas la science des saints.
Proverbs 30:4 ^
Who has gone up to heaven and come down? who has taken the winds in his hands, prisoning the waters in his robe? by whom have all the ends of the earth been fixed? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if you are able to say?

Qui est monté aux cieux, et qui en est descendu? Qui a recueilli le vent dans ses mains? Qui a serré les eaux dans son vêtement? Qui a fait paraître les extrémités de la terre? Quel est son nom, et quel est le nom de son fils? Le sais-tu?
Proverbs 30:5 ^
Every word of God is tested: he is a breastplate to those who put their faith in him.
Proverbes 30:5 ^
Toute parole de Dieu est éprouvée. Il est un bouclier pour ceux qui cherchent en lui un refuge.
Proverbs 30:6 ^
Make no addition to his words, or he will make clear your error, and you will be seen to be false.

N`ajoute rien à ses paroles, De peur qu`il ne te reprenne et que tu ne sois trouvé menteur.

I have made request to you for two things; do not keep them from me before my death:

Je te demande deux choses: Ne me les refuse pas, avant que je meure!
Proverbs 30:8 ^
Put far from me all false and foolish things: do not give me great wealth or let me be in need, but give me only enough food:
Proverbes 30:8 ^
Éloigne de moi la fausseté et la parole mensongère; Ne me donne ni pauvreté, ni richesse, Accorde-moi le pain qui m`est nécessaire.
Proverbs 30:9 ^
For fear that if I am full, I may be false to you and say, Who is the Lord? or if I am poor, I may become a thief, using the name of my God wrongly.
Proverbes 30:9 ^
De peur que, dans l`abondance, je ne te renie Et ne dise: Qui est l`Éternel? Ou que, dans la pauvreté, je ne dérobe, Et ne m`attaque au nom de mon Dieu.
Proverbs 30:10 ^
Do not say evil of a servant to his master, or he will put a curse on you, and you will get into trouble.

Ne calomnie pas un serviteur auprès de son maître, De peur qu`il ne te maudisse et que tu ne te rendes coupable.
Proverbs 30:11 ^
There is a generation who put a curse on their father, and do not give a blessing to their mother.

Il est une race qui maudit son père, Et qui ne bénit point sa mère.
Proverbs 30:12 ^
There is a generation who seem to themselves to be free from sin, but are not washed from their unclean ways.

Il est une race qui se croit pure, Et qui n`est pas lavée de sa souillure.

There is a generation, O how full of pride are their eyes! O how their brows are lifted up!

Il est une race dont les yeux sont hautains, Et les paupières élevées.
Proverbs 30:14 ^
There is a generation whose teeth are like swords, their strong teeth like knives, for the destruction of the poor from the earth, and of those who are in need from among men.

Il est une race dont les dents sont des glaives Et les mâchoires des couteaux, Pour dévorer le malheureux sur la terre Et les indigents parmi les hommes.
Proverbs 30:15 ^
The night-spirit has two daughters, Give, give. There are three things which are never full, even four which never say, Enough:

La sangsue a deux filles: Donne! donne! Trois choses sont insatiables, Quatre ne disent jamais: Assez!
Proverbs 30:16 ^
The underworld, and the woman without a child; the earth which never has enough water, and the fire which never says, Enough.

Le séjour des morts, la femme stérile, La terre, qui n`est pas rassasiée d`eau, Et le feu, qui ne dit jamais: Assez!
Proverbs 30:17 ^
The eye which makes sport of a father, and sees no value in a mother when she is old will be rooted out by the ravens of the valley, and be food for the young eagles.
Proverbes 30:17 ^
L`oeil qui se moque d`un père Et qui dédaigne l`obéissance envers une mère, Les corbeaux du torrent le perceront, Et les petits de l`aigle le mangeront.
Proverbs 30:18 ^
There are three things, the wonder of which overcomes me, even four things outside my knowledge:

Il y a trois choses qui sont au-dessus de ma portée, Même quatre que je ne puis comprendre:
Proverbs 30:19 ^
The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a snake on a rock; the way of a ship in the heart of the sea; and the way of a man with a girl.
Proverbes 30:19 ^
La trace de l`aigle dans les cieux, La trace du serpent sur le rocher, La trace du navire au milieu de la mer, Et la trace de l`homme chez la jeune femme.
Proverbs 30:20 ^
This is the way of a false wife; she takes food, and, cleaning her mouth, says, I have done no wrong.
Proverbes 30:20 ^
Telle est la voie de la femme adultère: Elle mange, et s`essuie la bouche, Puis elle dit: Je n`ai point fait de mal.
Proverbs 30:21 ^
For three things the earth is moved, and there are four which it will not put up with:

Trois choses font trembler la terre, Et il en est quatre qu`elle ne peut supporter:
Proverbs 30:22 ^
A servant when he becomes a king; a man without sense when his wealth is increased;

Un esclave qui vient à régner, Un insensé qui est rassasié de pain,
Proverbs 30:23 ^
A hated woman when she is married; and a servant-girl who takes the place of her master's wife.

Une femme dédaignée qui se marie, Et une servante qui hérite de sa maîtresse.

There are four things which are little on the earth, but they are very wise:

The ants are a people not strong, but they put by a store of food in the summer;

Les fourmis, peuple sans force, Préparent en été leur nourriture;

The conies are only a feeble people, but they make their houses in the rocks;

Les damans, peuple sans puissance, Placent leur demeure dans les rochers;
Proverbs 30:27 ^
The locusts have no king, but they all go out in bands;

Les sauterelles n`ont point de roi, Et elles sortent toutes par divisions;
Proverbs 30:28 ^
You may take the lizard in your hands, but it is in kings' houses.

Le lézard saisit avec les mains, Et se trouve dans les palais des rois.

There are three things whose steps are good to see, even four whose goings are fair:

Il y en a trois qui ont une belle allure, Et quatre qui ont une belle démarche:

The lion, which is strongest among beasts, not turning from his way for any;
Proverbes 30:30 ^
Le lion, le héros des animaux, Ne reculant devant qui que ce soit;
Proverbs 30:31 ^
The war-horse, and the he-goat, and the king when his army is with him.
Proverbes 30:31 ^
Le cheval tout équipé; ou le bouc; Et le roi à qui personne ne résiste.
Proverbs 30:32 ^
If you have done foolishly in lifting yourself up, or if you have had evil designs, put your hand over your mouth.
Proverbes 30:32 ^
Si l`orgueil te pousse à des actes de folie, Et si tu as de mauvaises pensées, mets la main sur la bouche:
Proverbs 30:33 ^
The shaking of milk makes butter, and the twisting of the nose makes blood come: so the forcing of wrath is a cause of fighting.
Proverbes 30:33 ^
Car la pression du lait produit de la crème, La pression du nez produit du sang, Et la pression de la colère produit des querelles.
