Luke 2:1 ^
Now it came about in those days that an order went out from Caesar Augustus that there was to be a numbering of all the world.
Luc 2:1 ^
En ce temps-là parut un édit de César Auguste, ordonnant un recensement de toute la terre.
Luke 2:2 ^
This was the first numbering, which was made when Quirinius was ruler of Syria.
Luc 2:2 ^
Ce premier recensement eut lieu pendant que Quirinius était gouverneur de Syrie.
Luke 2:3 ^
And all men went to be numbered, everyone to his town.
Luc 2:3 ^
Tous allaient se faire inscrire, chacun dans sa ville.
Luke 2:4 ^
And Joseph went up from Galilee, out of the town of Nazareth, into Judaea, to Beth-lehem, the town of David, because he was of the house and family of David,
Luc 2:4 ^
Joseph aussi monta de la Galilée, de la ville de Nazareth, pour se rendre en Judée, dans la ville de David, appelée Bethléhem, parce qu`il était de la maison et de la famille de David,
Luke 2:5 ^
To be put on the list with Mary, his future wife, who was about to become a mother.
Luc 2:5 ^
afin de se faire inscrire avec Marie, sa fiancée, qui était enceinte.

And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth.
Luc 2:6 ^
Pendant qu`ils étaient là, le temps où Marie devait accoucher arriva,
Luke 2:7 ^
And she had her first son; and folding him in linen, she put him to rest in the place where the cattle had their food, because there was no room for them in the house.
Luc 2:7 ^
et elle enfanta son fils premier-né. Elle l`emmaillota, et le coucha dans une crèche, parce qu`il n`y avait pas de place pour eux dans l`hôtellerie.
Luke 2:8 ^
And in the same country there were keepers of sheep in the fields, watching over their flock by night.
Luc 2:8 ^
Il y avait, dans cette même contrée, des bergers qui passaient dans les champs les veilles de la nuit pour garder leurs troupeaux.
Luke 2:9 ^
And an angel of the Lord came to them, and the glory of the Lord was shining round about them: and fear came on them.
Luc 2:9 ^
Et voici, un ange du Seigneur leur apparut, et la gloire du Seigneur resplendit autour d`eux. Ils furent saisis d`une grande frayeur.
Luke 2:10 ^
And the angel said, Have no fear; for truly, I give you good news of great joy which will be for all the people:
Luc 2:10 ^
Mais l`ange leur dit: Ne craignez point; car je vous annonce une bonne nouvelle, qui sera pour tout le peuple le sujet d`une grande joie:
Luke 2:11 ^
For on this day, in the town of David, a Saviour has come to birth, who is Christ the Lord.
Luc 2:11 ^
c`est qu`aujourd`hui, dans la ville de David, il vous est né un Sauveur, qui est le Christ, le Seigneur.
Luke 2:12 ^
And this is the sign to you: you will see a young child folded in linen, in the place where the cattle have their food.
Luc 2:12 ^
Et voici à quel signe vous le reconnaîtrez: vous trouverez un enfant emmailloté et couché dans une crèche.
Luke 2:13 ^
And suddenly there was with the angel a great band of spirits from heaven, giving praise to God, and saying,
Luc 2:13 ^
Et soudain il se joignit à l`ange une multitude de l`armée céleste, louant Dieu et disant:
Luke 2:14 ^
Glory to God in the highest, and on the earth peace among men with whom he is well pleased.
Luc 2:14 ^
Gloire à Dieu dans les lieux très hauts, Et paix sur la terre parmi les hommes qu`il agrée!
Luke 2:15 ^
And when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the keepers of the sheep said to one another, Let us go now to Beth-lehem, and see this thing which has come about, which the Lord has made clear to us.
Luc 2:15 ^
Lorsque les anges les eurent quittés pour retourner au ciel, les bergers se dirent les uns aux autres: Allons jusqu`à Bethléhem, et voyons ce qui est arrivé, ce que le Seigneur nous a fait connaître.
Luke 2:16 ^
And they came quickly, and saw Mary and Joseph, and the child in the place where the cattle had their food.
Luc 2:16 ^
Ils y allèrent en hâte, et ils trouvèrent Marie et Joseph, et le petit enfant couché dans la crèche.
Luke 2:17 ^
And when they saw it, they gave them an account of the things which had been said to them about the child.
Luc 2:17 ^
Après l`avoir vu, ils racontèrent ce qui leur avait été dit au sujet de ce petit enfant.
Luke 2:18 ^
And all those to whose ears it came were full of wonder at the things said by the keepers of the sheep.
Luc 2:18 ^
Tous ceux qui les entendirent furent dans l`étonnement de ce que leur disaient les bergers.
Luke 2:19 ^
But Mary kept all these words in her heart, and gave much thought to them.
Luc 2:19 ^
Marie gardait toutes ces choses, et les repassait dans son coeur.
Luke 2:20 ^
Then the keepers of the sheep went back, giving glory and praise to God for all the things which had come to their ears and which they had seen, as it had been said to them.
Luc 2:20 ^
Et les bergers s`en retournèrent, glorifiant et louant Dieu pour tout ce qu`ils avaient entendu et vu, et qui était conforme à ce qui leur avait été annoncé.
Luke 2:21 ^
And when, after eight days, the time came for his circumcision, he was named Jesus, the name which the angel had given to him before his birth.
Luc 2:21 ^
Le huitième jour, auquel l`enfant devait être circoncis, étant arrivé, on lui donna le nom de Jésus, nom qu`avait indiqué l`ange avant qu`il fût conçu dans le sein de sa mère.
Luke 2:22 ^
And when the necessary days for making them clean by the law of Moses had come to an end, they took him to Jerusalem to give him to the Lord
Luc 2:22 ^
Et, quand les jours de leur purification furent accomplis, selon la loi de Moïse, Joseph et Marie le portèrent à Jérusalem, pour le présenter au Seigneur, -
Luke 2:23 ^
(As it says in the law of the Lord, Every mother's first male child is to be holy to the Lord),
Luc 2:23 ^
suivant ce qui est écrit dans la loi du Seigneur: Tout mâle premier-né sera consacré au Seigneur, -
Luke 2:24 ^
And to make an offering, as it is ordered in the law of the Lord, of two doves or other young birds.
Luc 2:24 ^
et pour offrir en sacrifice deux tourterelles ou deux jeunes pigeons, comme cela est prescrit dans la loi du Seigneur.
Luke 2:25 ^
And there was then in Jerusalem a man whose name was Simeon; and he was an upright man, fearing God and waiting for the comfort of Israel: and the Holy Spirit was on him.
Luc 2:25 ^
Et voici, il y avait à Jérusalem un homme appelé Siméon. Cet homme était juste et pieux, il attendait la consolation d`Israël, et l`Esprit Saint était sur lui.
Luke 2:26 ^
And he had knowledge, through the Holy Spirit, that he would not see death till he had seen the Lord's Christ.
Luc 2:26 ^
Il avait été divinement averti par le Saint Esprit qu`il ne mourrait point avant d`avoir vu le Christ du Seigneur.
Luke 2:27 ^
And full of the Spirit he came into the Temple; and when the father and mother came in with the child Jesus, to do with him what was ordered by the law,
Luc 2:27 ^
Il vint au temple, poussé par l`Esprit. Et, comme les parents apportaient le petit enfant Jésus pour accomplir à son égard ce qu`ordonnait la loi,
Luke 2:28 ^
Then he took him in his arms and gave praise to God and said,
Luc 2:28 ^
il le reçut dans ses bras, bénit Dieu, et dit:
Luke 2:29 ^
Now you are letting your servant go in peace, O Lord, as you have said;
Luc 2:29 ^
Maintenant, Seigneur, tu laisses ton serviteur S`en aller en paix, selon ta parole.
Luke 2:30 ^
For my eyes have seen your salvation,
Luc 2:30 ^
Car mes yeux ont vu ton salut,
Luke 2:31 ^
Which you have made ready before the face of all nations;
Luc 2:31 ^
Salut que tu as préparé devant tous les peuples,
Luke 2:32 ^
A light of revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.
Luc 2:32 ^
Lumière pour éclairer les nations, Et gloire d`Israël, ton peuple.
Luke 2:33 ^
And his father and mother were full of wonder at the things which were said about him.
Luc 2:33 ^
Son père et sa mère étaient dans l`admiration des choses qu`on disait de lui.
Luke 2:34 ^
And Simeon gave them his blessing and said to Mary, his mother, See, this child will be the cause of the downfall and the lifting up of great numbers of people in Israel, and he will be a sign against which hard words will be said;
Luc 2:34 ^
Siméon les bénit, et dit à Marie, sa mère: Voici, cet enfant est destiné à amener la chute et le relèvement de plusieurs en Israël, et à devenir un signe qui provoquera la contradiction,
Luke 2:35 ^
(And a sword will go through your heart;) so that the secret thoughts of men may come to light.
Luc 2:35 ^
et à toi-même une épée te transpercera l`âme, afin que les pensées de beaucoup de coeurs soient dévoilées.
Luke 2:36 ^
And there was one, Anna, a woman prophet, the daughter of Phanuel, of the family of Asher (she was very old, and after seven years of married life
Luc 2:36 ^
Il y avait aussi une prophétesse, Anne, fille de Phanuel, de la tribu d`Aser. Elle était fort avancée en âge, et elle avait vécu sept ans avec son mari depuis sa virginité.
Luke 2:37 ^
She had been a widow for eighty-four years); she was in the Temple at all times, worshipping with prayers and going without food, night and day.
Luc 2:37 ^
Restée veuve, et âgée de quatre vingt-quatre ans, elle ne quittait pas le temple, et elle servait Dieu nuit et jour dans le jeûne et dans la prière.
Luke 2:38 ^
And coming up at that time, she gave praise to God, talking of him to all those who were waiting for the freeing of Jerusalem.
Luc 2:38 ^
Étant survenue, elle aussi, à cette même heure, elle louait Dieu, et elle parlait de Jésus à tous ceux qui attendaient la délivrance de Jérusalem.
Luke 2:39 ^
And when they had done all the things which were ordered by the law of the Lord, they went back to Galilee, to Nazareth, the town where they were living.
Luc 2:39 ^
Lorsqu`ils eurent accompli tout ce qu`ordonnait la loi du Seigneur, Joseph et Marie retournèrent en Galilée, à Nazareth, leur ville.
Luke 2:40 ^
And the child became tall and strong and full of wisdom, and the grace of God was on him.
Luc 2:40 ^
Or, l`enfant croissait et se fortifiait. Il était rempli de sagesse, et la grâce de Dieu était sur lui.
Luke 2:41 ^
And every year his father and mother went to Jerusalem at the feast of the Passover.
Luc 2:41 ^
Les parents de Jésus allaient chaque année à Jérusalem, à la fête de Pâque.
Luke 2:42 ^
And when he was twelve years old, they went up, as their way was, to the feast;
Luc 2:42 ^
Lorsqu`il fut âgé de douze ans, ils y montèrent, selon la coutume de la fête.
Luke 2:43 ^
And when the days of the feast came to an end and they were going back, the boy Jesus was still in Jerusalem, but they had no knowledge of it:
Luc 2:43 ^
Puis, quand les jours furent écoulés, et qu`ils s`en retournèrent, l`enfant Jésus resta à Jérusalem. Son père et sa mère ne s`en aperçurent pas.
Luke 2:44 ^
And in the belief that he was with some of their number, they went a day's journey; and after looking for him among their relations and friends,
Luc 2:44 ^
Croyant qu`il était avec leurs compagnons de voyage, ils firent une journée de chemin, et le cherchèrent parmi leurs parents et leurs connaissances.
Luke 2:45 ^
And seeing that he was not there, they went back to Jerusalem, to make search for him.
Luc 2:45 ^
Mais, ne l`ayant pas trouvé, ils retournèrent à Jérusalem pour le chercher.
Luke 2:46 ^
And after three days they came across him in the Temple, seated among the wise men, giving ear to their words and putting questions to them.
Luc 2:46 ^
Au bout de trois jours, ils le trouvèrent dans le temple, assis au milieu des docteurs, les écoutant et les interrogeant.
Luke 2:47 ^
And all to whose ears it came were full of wonder at his knowledge and the answers which he gave.
Luc 2:47 ^
Tous ceux qui l`entendaient étaient frappés de son intelligence et de ses réponses.
Luke 2:48 ^
And when they saw him they were surprised, and his mother said to him, Son, why have you done this to us? see, your father and I have been looking for you with sorrow.
Luc 2:48 ^
Quand ses parents le virent, ils furent saisis d`étonnement, et sa mère lui dit: Mon enfant, pourquoi as-tu agi de la sorte avec nous? Voici, ton père et moi, nous te cherchions avec angoisse.
Luke 2:49 ^
And he said to them, Why were you looking for me? was it not clear to you that my right place was in my Father's house?
Luc 2:49 ^
Il leur dit: Pourquoi me cherchiez-vous? Ne saviez-vous pas qu`il faut que je m`occupe des affaires de mon Père?
Luke 2:50 ^
And his words seemed strange to them.
Luc 2:50 ^
Mais ils ne comprirent pas ce qu`il leur disait.
Luke 2:51 ^
And he went down with them and came to Nazareth; and did as he was ordered: and his mother kept all these words in her heart.
Luc 2:51 ^
Puis il descendit avec eux pour aller à Nazareth, et il leur était soumis. Sa mère gardait toutes ces choses dans son coeur.
Luke 2:52 ^
And Jesus was increasing in wisdom and in years, and in grace before God and men.
Luc 2:52 ^
Et Jésus croissait en sagesse, en stature, et en grâce, devant Dieu et devant les hommes.
