| Se dunque voi siete stati risuscitati con Cristo, cercate le cose di sopra dove Cristo è seduto alla destra di Dio. | If then you have a new life with Christ, give your attention to the things of heaven, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. |
| Abbiate l’animo alle cose di sopra, non a quelle che son sulla terra; | Keep your mind on the higher things, not on the things of earth. |
| poiché voi moriste, e la vita vostra è nascosta con Cristo in Dio. | For your life on earth is done, and you have a secret life with Christ in God. |
| Quando Cristo, la vita nostra, sarà manifestato, allora anche voi sarete con lui manifestati in gloria. | At the coming of Christ who is our life, you will be seen with him in glory. |
| Fate dunque morire le vostre membra che son sulla terra: fornicazione, impurità, lussuria, mala concupiscenza e cupidigia, la quale è idolatria. | Then put to death your bodies which are of the earth; wrong use of the flesh, unclean things, passion, evil desires and envy, which is the worship of strange gods; |
| Per queste cose viene l’ira di Dio sui figliuoli della disubbidienza; | Because of which the wrath of God comes on those who go against his orders; |
| e in quelle camminaste un tempo anche voi, quando vivevate in esse. | Among whom you were living in the past, when you did such things. |
| Ma ora deponete anche voi tutte queste cose: ira, collera, malignità, maldicenza, e non vi escano di bocca parole disoneste. | But now it is right for you to put away all these things; wrath, passion, bad feeling, curses, unclean talk; |
| Non mentite gli uni agli altri, | Do not make false statements to one another; because you have put away the old man with all his doings, |
| giacché avete svestito l’uomo vecchio con i suoi atti e rivestito il nuovo, che si va rinnovando in conoscenza ad immagine di Colui che l’ha creato. | And have put on the new man, which has become new in knowledge after the image of his maker; |
| Qui non c’è Greco e Giudeo, circoncisione e incirconcisione, barbaro, Scita, schiavo, libero, ma Cristo è in ogni cosa e in tutti. | Where there is no Greek or Jew, no one with circumcision or without circumcision, no division between nations, no servant or free man: but Christ is all and in all. |
| Vestitevi dunque, come eletti di Dio, santi ed amati, di tenera compassione, di benignità, di umiltà, di dolcezza, di longanimità; | As saints of God, then, holy and dearly loved, let your behaviour be marked by pity and mercy, kind feeling, a low opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, and a power of undergoing all things; |
| sopportandovi gli uni gli altri e perdonandovi a vicenda, se uno ha di che dolersi d’un altro. Come il Signore vi ha perdonati, così fate anche voi. | Being gentle to one another and having forgiveness for one another, if anyone has done wrong to his brother, even as the Lord had forgiveness for you: |
| E sopra tutte queste cose vestitevi della carità che è il vincolo della perfezione. | And more than all, have love; the only way in which you may be completely joined together. |
| E la pace di Cristo, alla quale siete stati chiamati per essere un sol corpo, regni nei vostri cuori; e siate riconoscenti. | And let the peace of Christ be ruling in your hearts, as it was the purpose of God for you to be one body; and give praise to God at all times. |
| La parola di Cristo abiti in voi doviziosamente; ammaestrandovi ed ammonendovi gli uni gli altri con ogni sapienza, cantando di cuore a Dio, sotto l’impulso della grazia, salmi, inni, e cantici spirituali. | Let the word of Christ be in you in all wealth of wisdom; teaching and helping one another with songs of praise and holy words, making melody to God with grace in your hearts. |
| E qualunque cosa facciate, in parola o in opera, fate ogni cosa nel nome del Signor Gesù, rendendo grazie a Dio Padre per mezzo di lui. | And whatever you do, in word or in act, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving praise to God the Father through him. |
| Mogli, siate soggette ai vostri mariti, come si conviene nel Signore. | Wives, be under the authority of your husbands, as is right in the Lord. |
| Mariti, amate le vostre mogli, e non v’inasprite contro a loro. | Husbands, have love for your wives, and be not bitter against them. |
| Figliuoli, ubbidite ai vostri genitori in ogni cosa, poiché questo è accettevole al Signore. | Children, do the orders of your fathers and mothers in all things, for this is pleasing to the Lord. |
| Padri, non irritate i vostri figliuoli, affinché non si scoraggino. | Fathers, do not be hard on your children, so that their spirit may not be broken. |
| Servi, ubbidite in ogni cosa ai vostri padroni secondo la carne; non servendoli soltanto quando vi vedono come per piacere agli uomini, ma con semplicità di cuore, temendo il Signore. | Servants, in all things do the orders of your natural masters; not only when their eyes are on you, as pleasers of men, but with all your heart, fearing the Lord: |
| Qualunque cosa facciate, operate di buon animo, come per il Signore e non per gli uomini; | Whatever you do, do it readily, as to the Lord and not to men; |
| sapendo che dal Signore riceverete per ricompensa l’eredità. | Being certain that the Lord will give you the reward of the heritage: for you are the servants of the Lord Christ. |
| Servite a Cristo il Signore! Poiché chi fa torto riceverà la retribuzione del torto che avrà fatto; e non ci son riguardi personali. | For the wrongdoer will have punishment for the wrong he has done, without respect for any man's position. |
