Deutéronome 2:1 Nous nous tournâmes, et nous partîmes pour le désert, par le chemin de la mer Rouge, comme l`Éternel me l`avait ordonné; nous suivîmes longtemps les contours de la montagne de Séir.	Deuteronomy 2:1 Then we went back, journeying into the waste land by the way to the Red Sea, as the Lord had said to me: and we were a long time going round Mount Seir.
Deutéronome 2:2 L`Éternel me dit:	Deuteronomy 2:2 And the Lord said to me,
Deutéronome 2:3 Vous avez assez suivi les contours de cette montagne. Tournez-vous vers le nord.	Deuteronomy 2:3 You have been journeying round this mountain long enough: now go to the north;
Deutéronome 2:4 Donne cet ordre au peuple: Vous allez passer à la frontière de vos frères, les enfants d`Ésaü, qui habitent en Séir. Ils vous craindront; mais soyez bien sur vos gardes.	Deuteronomy 2:4 And give the people orders, saying, You are about to go through the land of your brothers, the children of Esau, who are living in Seir; and they will have fear of you; so take care what you do:
Deutéronome 2:5 Ne les attaquez pas; car je ne vous donnerai dans leur pays pas même de quoi poser la plante du pied: j`ai donné la montagne de Séir en propriété à Ésaü.	Deuteronomy 2:5 Make no attack on them, for I will not give you any of their land, not even space enough for a man's foot: because I have given Mount Seir to Esau for his heritage.
Deutéronome 2:6 Vous achèterez d`eux à prix d`argent la nourriture que vous mangerez, et vous achèterez d`eux à prix d`argent même l`eau que vous boirez.	Deuteronomy 2:6 You may get food for your needs from them for a price, and water for drinking.
Deutéronome 2:7 Car l`Éternel, ton Dieu, t`a béni dans tout le travail de tes mains, il a connu ta marche dans ce grand désert. Voilà quarante années que l`Éternel, ton Dieu, est avec toi: tu n`as manqué de rien.	Deuteronomy 2:7 For the blessing of the Lord your God has been on you in all the work of your hands: he has knowledge of your wanderings through this great waste: these forty years the Lord your God has been with you, and you have been short of nothing.
Deutéronome 2:8 Nous passâmes à distance de nos frères, les enfants d`Ésaü, qui habitent en Séir, et à distance du chemin de la plaine, d`Élath et d`Etsjon Guéber, puis nous nous tournâmes, et nous prîmes la direction du désert de Moab.	Deuteronomy 2:8 So we went on past our brothers, the children of Esau, living in Seir, by the road through the Arabah, from Elath and Ezion-geber. And turning, we went by the road through the waste land of Moab.
Deutéronome 2:9 L`Éternel me dit: N`attaque pas Moab, et ne t`engage pas dans un combat avec lui; car je ne te donnerai rien à posséder dans son pays: c`est aux enfants de Lot que j`ai donné Ar en propriété.	Deuteronomy 2:9 And the Lord said to me, Make no attack on Moab and do not go to war with them, for I will not give you any of his land: because I have given Ar to the children of Lot for their heritage.
Deutéronome 2:10 (Les Émim y habitaient auparavant; c`était un peuple grand, nombreux et de haute taille, comme les Anakim.	Deuteronomy 2:10 (In the past the Emim were living there; a great people, equal in numbers to the Anakim and as tall;
Deutéronome 2:11 Ils passaient aussi pour être des Rephaïm, de même que les Anakim; mais les Moabites les appelaient Émim.	Deuteronomy 2:11 They are numbered among the Rephaim, like the Anakim; but are named Emim by the Moabites.
Deutéronome 2:12 Séir était habité autrefois par les Horiens; les enfants d`Ésaü les chassèrent, les détruisirent devant eux, et s`établirent à leur place, comme l`a fait Israël dans le pays qu`il possède et que l`Éternel lui a donné.)	Deuteronomy 2:12 And the Horites in earlier times were living in Seir, but the children of Esau took their place; they sent destruction on them and took their land for themselves, as Israel did to the land of his heritage which the Lord gave them.)
Deutéronome 2:13 Maintenant levez-vous, et passez le torrent de Zéred. Nous passâmes le torrent de Zéred.	Deuteronomy 2:13 Get up now, and go over the stream Zered. So we went over the stream Zered.
Deutéronome 2:14 Le temps que durèrent nos marches de Kadès Barnéa au passage du torrent de Zéred fut de trente-huit ans, jusqu`à ce que toute la génération des hommes de guerre eût disparu du milieu du camp, comme l`Éternel le leur avait juré.	Deuteronomy 2:14 Thirty-eight years had gone by from the time when we came away from Kadesh-barnea till we went over the stream Zered; by that time all the generation of the men of war among us were dead, as the Lord had said.
Deutéronome 2:15 La main de l`Éternel fut aussi sur eux pour les détruire du milieu du camp, jusqu`à ce qu`ils eussent disparu.	Deuteronomy 2:15 For the hand of the Lord was against them, working their destruction, till all were dead.
Deutéronome 2:16 Lorsque tous les hommes de guerre eurent disparu par la mort du milieu du peuple,	Deuteronomy 2:16 So when death had overtaken all the men of war among the people,
Deutéronome 2:17 l`Éternel me parla, et dit:	Deuteronomy 2:17 The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
Deutéronome 2:18 Tu passeras aujourd`hui la frontière de Moab, à Ar,	Deuteronomy 2:18 You are about to go by Ar, the limit of the country of Moab;
Deutéronome 2:19 et tu approcheras des enfants d`Ammon. Ne les attaque pas, et ne t`engage pas dans un combat avec eux; car je ne te donnerai rien à posséder dans le pays des enfants d`Ammon: c`est aux enfants de Lot que je l`ai donné en propriété.	Deuteronomy 2:19 And when you come near the land of the children of Ammon, give them no cause of trouble and do not make war on them, for I will not give you any of the land of the children of Ammon for your heritage: because I have given it to the children of Lot.
Deutéronome 2:20 (Ce pays passait aussi pour un pays de Rephaïm; des Rephaïm y habitaient auparavant, et les Ammonites les appelaient Zamzummim:	Deuteronomy 2:20 (That land is said to have been a land of the Rephaim, for Rephaim had been living there in earlier times, but they were named Zamzummim by the Ammonites;
Deutéronome 2:21 c`était un peuple grand, nombreux et de haute taille, comme les Anakim. L`Éternel les détruisit devant les Ammonites, qui les chassèrent et s`établirent à leur place.	Deuteronomy 2:21 They were a great people, tall as the Anakim, and equal to them in number; but the Lord sent destruction on them and the children of Ammon took their place, living in their land;
Deutéronome 2:22 C`est ainsi que fit l`Éternel pour les enfants d`Ésaü qui habitent en Séir, quand il détruisit les Horiens devant eux; ils les chassèrent et s`établirent à leur place, jusqu`à ce jour.	Deuteronomy 2:22 As he did for the children of Esau living in Seir, when he sent destruction on the Horites before them, and they took their land where they are living to this day:
Deutéronome 2:23 Les Avviens, qui habitaient dans des villages jusqu`à Gaza, furent détruits par les Caphtorim, sortis de Caphtor, qui s`établirent à leur place.)	Deuteronomy 2:23 And the Avvim, living in the small towns as far as Gaza, came to destruction by the hands of the Caphtorim who came out from Caphtor and took their land.)
Deutéronome 2:24 Levez-vous, partez, et passez le torrent de l`Arnon. Vois, je livre entre tes mains Sihon, roi de Hesbon, l`Amoréen et son pays. Commence la conquête, fais-lui la guerre!	Deuteronomy 2:24 Get up now, and go on your journey, crossing over the valley of the Arnon: see, I have given into your hands Sihon, the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and all his land: go forward to make it yours, and make war on him,
Deutéronome 2:25 Je vais répandre dès aujourd`hui la frayeur et la crainte de toi sur tous les peuples qui sont sous le ciel; et, au bruit de ta renommée, ils trembleront et seront saisis d`angoisse à cause de toi.	Deuteronomy 2:25 From now on I will put the fear of you in all peoples under heaven, who, hearing of you, will be shaking with fear and grief of heart because of you.
Deutéronome 2:26 J`envoyai, du désert de Kedémoth, des messagers à Sihon, roi de Hesbon, avec des paroles de paix. Je lui fis dire:	Deuteronomy 2:26 Then from the waste land of Kedemoth I sent representatives to Sihon, king of Heshbon, with words of peace, saying,
Deutéronome 2:27 Laisse-moi passer par ton pays; je suivrai la grande route, sans m`écarter ni à droite ni à gauche.	Deuteronomy 2:27 Let me go through your land: I will keep to the highway, not turning to the right or to the left;
Deutéronome 2:28 Tu me vendras à prix d`argent la nourriture que je mangerai, et tu me donneras à prix d`argent l`eau que je boirai; je ne ferai que passer avec mes pieds.	Deuteronomy 2:28 Let me have food, at a price, for my needs, and water for drinking: only let me go through on foot;
Deutéronome 2:29 C`est ce que m`ont accordé les enfants d`Ésaü qui habitent en Séir, et les Moabites qui demeurent à Ar. Accorde-le aussi, jusqu`à ce que je passe le Jourdain pour entrer au pays que l`Éternel, notre Dieu, nous donne.	Deuteronomy 2:29 As the children of Esau did for me in Seir and the Moabites in Ar; till I have gone over Jordan into the land which the Lord our God is giving us.
Deutéronome 2:30 Mais Sihon, roi de Hesbon, ne voulut point nous laisser passer chez lui; car l`Éternel, ton Dieu, rendit son esprit inflexible et endurcit son coeur, afin de le livrer entre tes mains, comme tu le vois aujourd`hui.	Deuteronomy 2:30 But Sihon, king of Heshbon, would not let us go through; for the Lord your God made his spirit hard and his heart strong, so that he might give him up into your hands as at this day.
Deutéronome 2:31 L`Éternel me dit: Vois, je te livre dès maintenant Sihon et son pays.	Deuteronomy 2:31 And the Lord said to me, See, from now on I have given Sihon and his land into your hands: go forward now to take his land and make it yours.
Deutéronome 2:32 Sihon sortit à notre rencontre, avec tout son peuple, pour nous combattre à Jahats.	Deuteronomy 2:32 Then Sihon came out against us with all his people, to make an attack on us at Jahaz.
Deutéronome 2:33 L`Éternel, notre Dieu, nous le livra, et nous le battîmes, lui et ses fils, et tout son peuple.	Deuteronomy 2:33 And the Lord our God gave him into our hands; and we overcame him and his sons and all his people.
Deutéronome 2:34 Nous prîmes alors toutes ses villes, et nous les dévouâmes par interdit, hommes, femmes et petits enfants, sans en laisser échapper un seul.	Deuteronomy 2:34 At that time we took all his towns, and gave them over to complete destruction, together with men, women, and children; we had no mercy on any:
Deutéronome 2:35 Seulement, nous pillâmes pour nous le bétail et le butin des villes que nous avions prises.	Deuteronomy 2:35 Only the cattle we took for ourselves, with the goods from the towns we had taken.
Deutéronome 2:36 Depuis Aroër sur les bords du torrent de l`Arnon, et la ville qui est dans la vallée, jusqu`à Galaad, il n`y eut pas de ville trop forte pour nous: l`Éternel, notre Dieu, nous livra tout.	Deuteronomy 2:36 From Aroer on the edge of the valley of the Arnon and from the town in the valley as far as Gilead, no town was strong enough to keep us out; the Lord our God gave them all into our hands:
Deutéronome 2:37 Mais tu n`approchas point du pays des enfants d`Ammon, de tous les bords du torrent de Jabbok, des villes de la montagne, de tous les lieux que l`Éternel, notre Dieu, t`avait défendu d`attaquer.	Deuteronomy 2:37 But you did not go near the land of the children of Ammon, that is, all the side of the river Jabbok or the towns of the hill-country, wherever the Lord our God had said we were not to go.
