Proverbs 25

| TAMBIÉN estos son proverbios de Salomón, los cuales copiaron los varones de Ezechîas, rey de Judá. | These are more wise sayings of Solomon, copied out by the men of Hezekiah, king of Judah. |
| Gloria de Dios es encubrir la palabra; Mas honra del rey es escudriñar la palabra. | It is the glory of God to keep a thing secret: but the glory of kings is to have it searched out. |
| Para la altura de los cielos, y para la profundidad de la tierra, Y para el corazón de los reyes, no hay investigación. | The heaven is high and the earth is deep, and the hearts of kings may not be searched out. |
| Quita las escorias de la plata, Y saldrá vaso al fundidor. | Take away the waste from silver, and a vessel will come out for the silver-worker. |
| Aparta al impío de la presencia del rey, Y su trono se afirmará en justicia. | Take away evil-doers from before the king, and the seat of his power will be made strong in righteousness. |
| No te alabes delante del rey, Ni estés en el lugar de los grandes: | Do not take glory for yourself before the king, and do not put yourself in the place of the great: |
| Porque mejor es que se te diga, Sube acá, Que no que seas humillado delante del príncipe Que miraron tus ojos. | For it is better to have it said to you, Come up here; than for you to be put down in a lower place before the ruler. |
| No salgas á pleito presto, No sea que no sepas qué hacer al fin, Después que tu prójimo te haya dejado confuso. | Do not be quick to go to law about what you have seen, for what will you do in the end, when your neighbour has put you to shame? |
| Trata tu causa con tu compañero Y no descubras el secreto á otro. | Have a talk with your neighbour himself about your cause, but do not give away the secret of another: |
| No sea que te deshonre el que lo oyere, Y tu infamia no pueda repararse. | Or your hearer may say evil of you, and your shame will not be turned away. |
| Manzana de oro con figuras de plata Es la palabra dicha como conviene. | A word at the right time is like apples of gold in a network of silver. |
| Como zarcillo de oro y joyel de oro fino, Es el que reprende al sabio que tiene oído dócil. | Like a nose-ring of gold and an ornament of the best gold, is a wise man who says sharp words to an ear ready to give attention. |
| Como frío de nieve en tiempo de la siega, Así es el mensajero fiel á los que lo envían: Pues al alma de su señor da refrigerio. | As the cold of snow in the time of grain-cutting, so is a true servant to those who send him; for he gives new life to the soul of his master. |
| Como nubes y vientos sin lluvia, Así es el hombre que se jacta de vana liberalidad. | As clouds and wind without rain, so is one who takes credit for an offering he has not given. |
| Con larga paciencia se aplaca el príncipe; Y la lengua blanda quebranta los huesos. | A judge is moved by one who for a long time undergoes wrongs without protest, and by a soft tongue even bone is broken. |
| ¿Hallaste la miel? come lo que te basta; No sea que te hartes de ella, y la vomites. | If you have honey, take only as much as is enough for you; for fear that, being full of it, you may not be able to keep it down. |
| Detén tu pie de la casa de tu vecino, Porque harto de ti no te aborrezca. | Let not your foot be frequently in your neighbour's house, or he may get tired of you, and his feeling be turned to hate. |
| Martillo y cuchillo y saeta aguda, Es el hombre que habla contra su prójimo falso testimonio. | One who gives false witness against his neighbour is a hammer and a sword and a sharp arrow. |
| Diente quebrado y pie resbalador, Es la confianza en el prevaricador en tiempo de angustia. | Putting one's faith in a false man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth and a shaking foot. |
| El que canta canciones al corazón afligido, Es como el que quita la ropa en tiempo de frío, ó el que sobre el jabón echa vinagre. | Like one who takes off clothing in cold weather and like acid on a wound, is he who makes melody to a sad heart. |
| Si el que te aborrece tuviere hambre, dale de comer pan; Y si tuviere sed, dale de beber agua: | If your hater is in need of food, give him bread; and if he is in need of drink, give him water: |
| Porque ascuas allegas sobre su cabeza, Y Jehová te lo pagará. | For so you will put coals of fire on his head, and the Lord will give you your reward. |
| El viento del norte ahuyenta la lluvia, Y el rostro airado la lengua detractora. | As the north wind gives birth to rain, so is an angry face caused by a tongue saying evil secretly. |
| Mejor es estar en un rincón de casa, Que con la mujer rencillosa en espaciosa casa. | It is better to be living in an angle of the house-top, than with a bitter-tongued woman in a wide house. |
| Como el agua fría al alma sedienta, Así son las buenas nuevas de lejanas tierras. | As cold water to a tired soul, so is good news from a far country. |
| Como fuente turbia y manantial corrompido, Es el justo que cae delante del impío. | Like a troubled fountain and a dirty spring, is an upright man who has to give way before evil-doers. |
| Comer mucha miel no es bueno: Ni el buscar la propia gloria es gloria. | It is not good to take much honey: so he who is not looking for honour will be honoured. |
| Como ciudad derribada y sin muro, Es el hombre cuyo espíritu no tiene rienda. | He whose spirit is uncontrolled is like an unwalled town which has been broken into. |
