John 6	John 6
John 6:1 After these things Jesus went away to the other side of the sea of Galilee--that is, the sea of Tiberias.	John 6:1 After these things Jesus went away to the other side of the sea of Galilee, which is [the sea] of Tiberias.
John 6:2 And a great number of people went after him because they saw the signs which he did on those who were ill.	John 6:2 And a great multitude followed him, because they beheld the signs which he did on them that were sick.
John 6:3 Then Jesus went up the mountain and was seated there with his disciples.	John 6:3 And Jesus went up into the mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.
John 6:4 Now the Passover, a feast of the Jews, was near.	John 6:4 Now the passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand.
John 6:5 Lifting up his eyes, Jesus saw a great number of people coming to where he was, and he said to Philip, Where may we get bread for all these people?	John 6:5 Jesus therefore lifting up his eyes, and seeing that a great multitude cometh unto him, saith unto Philip, Whence are we to buy bread, that these may eat?
John 6:6 This he said, testing him: for he had no doubt what he himself would do.	John 6:6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.
John 6:7 Philip made answer, Bread to the value of two hundred pence would not be enough even to give everyone a little.	John 6:7 Philip answered him, Two hundred shillings' worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one may take a little.
John 6:8 One of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, said to Jesus,	John 6:8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,
John 6:9 There is a boy here with five barley cakes and two fishes: but what is that among such a number?	John 6:9 There is a lad here, who hath five barley loaves, and two fishes: but what are these among so many?
John 6:10 Jesus said, Let the people be seated. Now there was much grass in that place. And those seated on the grass were about five thousand.	John 6:10 Jesus said, Make the people sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
John 6:11 Then Jesus took the cakes and having given praise to God, he gave them to the people who were seated, and the fishes in the same way, as much as they had need of.	John 6:11 Jesus therefore took the loaves; and having given thanks, he distributed to them that were set down; likewise also of the fishes as much as they would.
John 6:12 And when they had had enough, Jesus said to his disciples, Take up the broken bits which are over, so that nothing may be wasted.	John 6:12 And when they were filled, he saith unto his disciples, Gather up the broken pieces which remain over, that nothing be lost.
John 6:13 So they took them up: twelve baskets full of broken bits of the five cakes which were over after the people had had enough.	John 6:13 So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which remained over unto them that had eaten.
John 6:14 And when the people saw the sign which he had done, they said, Truly, this is the prophet who is to come into the world.	John 6:14 When therefore the people saw the sign which he did, they said, This is of a truth the prophet that cometh into the world.
John 6:15 Now when Jesus saw that the people were about to come and take him by force to make him a king, he went away again up the mountain by himself.	John 6:15 Jesus therefore perceiving that they were about to come and take him by force, to make him king, withdrew again into the mountain himself alone.
John 6:16 When evening came the disciples went down to the sea;	John 6:16 And when evening came, his disciples went down unto the sea;
John 6:17 And they took a boat and went across the sea in the direction of Capernaum. By then it was dark and still Jesus had not come to them.	John 6:17 and they entered into a boat, and were going over the sea unto Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them.
John 6:18 The sea was getting rough because of a strong wind which was blowing.	John 6:18 And the sea was rising by reason of a great wind that blew.
John 6:19 After they had gone three or four miles they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near to the boat; and they had great fear.	John 6:19 When therefore they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they behold Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the boat: and they were afraid.
John 6:20 But he said to them, It is I, have no fear.	John 6:20 But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.
John 6:21 Then they readily took him into the boat: and straight away the boat was at the land to which they were going.	John 6:21 They were willing therefore to receive him into the boat: and straightway the boat was at the land whither they were going.
John 6:22 The day after, the people who were on the other side of the sea saw that only one small boat had been there, that Jesus had not gone in that boat with the disciples, but that the disciples had gone away by themselves.	John 6:22 On the morrow the multitude that stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, save one, and that Jesus entered not with his disciples into the boat, but [that] his disciples went away alone
John 6:23 Some other boats, however, came from Tiberias near to the place where they had taken the bread after the Lord had given praise.	John 6:23 (howbeit there came boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks):
John 6:24 So when the people saw that Jesus was not there, or his disciples, they got into those boats and went over to Capernaum looking for Jesus.	John 6:24 when the multitude therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they themselves got into the boats, and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.
John 6:25 And when they came across him on the other side of the sea they said, Rabbi, when did you come here?	John 6:25 And when they found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?
John 6:26 Jesus, answering them, said, Truly I say to you, You come after me, not because you saw signs, but because you were given the bread and had enough.	John 6:26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw signs, but because ye ate of the loaves, and were filled.
John 6:27 Let your work not be for the food which comes to an end, but for the food which goes on for eternal life, which the Son of man will give to you, for on him has God the Father put his mark.	John 6:27 Work not for the food which perisheth, but for the food which abideth unto eternal life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him the Father, even God, hath sealed.
John 6:28 Then they said to him, How may we do the works of God?	John 6:28 They said therefore unto him, What must we do, that we may work the works of God?
John 6:29 Jesus, answering, said to them, This is to do the work of God: to have faith in him whom God has sent.	John 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
John 6:30 So they said, What sign do you give us, so that we may see and have faith in you? What do you do?	John 6:30 They said therefore unto him, What then doest thou for a sign, that we may see, and believe thee? what workest thou?
John 6:31 Our fathers had the manna in the waste land, as the Writings say, He gave them bread from heaven.	John 6:31 Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.
John 6:32 Jesus then said to them, Truly I say to you, What Moses gave you was not the bread from heaven; it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven.	John 6:32 Jesus therefore said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, It was not Moses that gave you the bread out of heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread out of heaven.
John 6:33 The bread of God is the bread which comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world.	John 6:33 For the bread of God is that which cometh down out of heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
John 6:34 Ah, Lord, they said, give us that bread for ever!	John 6:34 They said therefore unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
John 6:35 And this was the answer of Jesus: I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never be in need of food, and he who has faith in me will never be in need of drink.	John 6:35 Jesus said unto them. I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall not hunger, and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
John 6:36 But it is as I said to you: you have seen me, and still you have no faith.	John 6:36 But I said unto you, that ye have seen me, and yet believe not.
John 6:37 Whatever the Father gives to me will come to me; and I will not send away anyone who comes to me.	John 6:37 All that which the Father giveth me shall come unto me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
John 6:38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my pleasure, but the pleasure of him who sent me.	John 6:38 For I am come down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
John 6:39 And this is the pleasure of him who sent me, that I am not to let out of my hands anything which he has given me, but I am to give it new life on the last day.	John 6:39 And this is the will of him that sent me, that of all that which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day.
John 6:40 This, I say, is my Father's pleasure, that everyone who sees the Son and has faith in him may have eternal life: and I will take him up on the last day.	John 6:40 For this is the will of my Father, that every one that beholdeth the Son, and believeth on him, should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
John 6:41 Now the Jews said bitter things about Jesus because of his words, I am the bread which came down from heaven.	John 6:41 The Jews therefore murmured concerning him, because he said, I am the bread which came down out of heaven.
John 6:42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we have seen? How is it then that he now says, I have come down from heaven?	John 6:42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how doth he now say, I am come down out of heaven?
John 6:43 Jesus made answer and said, Do not say things against me, one to another.	John 6:43 Jesus answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.
John 6:44 No man is able to come to me if the Father who sent me does not give him the desire to come: and I will take him up from the dead on the last day.	John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father that sent me draw him: and I will raise him up in the last day.
John 6:45 The writings of the prophets say, And they will all have teaching from God. Everyone whose ears have been open to the teaching of the Father comes to me.	John 6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall all be taught of God. Every one that hath heard from the Father, and hath learned, cometh unto me.
John 6:46 Not that anyone has ever seen the Father; only he who is from God, he has seen the Father.	John 6:46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he that is from God, he hath seen the Father.
John 6:47 Truly I say to you, He who has faith in me has eternal life.	John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth hath eternal life.
John 6:48 I am the bread of life.	John 6:48 I am the bread of life.
John 6:49 Your fathers took the manna in the waste land--and they are dead.	John 6:49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.
John 6:50 The bread which comes from heaven is such bread that a man may take it for food and never see death.	John 6:50 This is the bread which cometh down out of heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
John 6:51 I am the living bread which has come from heaven: if any man takes this bread for food he will have life for ever: and more than this, the bread which I will give is my flesh which I will give for the life of the world.	John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down out of heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: yea and the bread which I will give is my flesh, for the life of the world.
John 6:52 Then the Jews had an angry discussion among themselves, saying, How is it possible for this man to give us his flesh for food?	John 6:52 The Jews therefore strove one with another, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
John 6:53 Then Jesus said to them, Truly I say to you, If you do not take the flesh of the Son of man for food, and if you do not take his blood for drink, you have no life in you.	John 6:53 Jesus therefore said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, ye have not life in yourselves.
John 6:54 He who takes my flesh for food and my blood for drink has eternal life: and I will take him up from the dead at the last day.	John 6:54 He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood hath eternal life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
John 6:55 My flesh is true food and my blood is true drink.	John 6:55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
John 6:56 He who takes my flesh for food and my blood for drink is in me and I in him.	John 6:56 He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood abideth in me, and I in him.
John 6:57 As the living Father has sent me, and I have life because of the Father, even so he who takes me for his food will have life because of me.	John 6:57 As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father; so he that eateth me, he also shall live because of me.
John 6:58 This is the bread which has come down from heaven. It is not like the food which your fathers had: they took of the manna, and are dead; but he who takes this bread for food will have life for ever.	John 6:58 This is the bread which came down out of heaven: not as the fathers ate, and died; he that eateth this bread shall live for ever.
John 6:59 Jesus said these things in the Synagogue while he was teaching at Capernaum.	John 6:59 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
John 6:60 Then, hearing this, a number of his disciples said, This is a hard saying; who is able to take in such teaching?	John 6:60 Many therefore of his disciples, when the heard [this], said, This is a hard saying; who can hear it?
John 6:61 When Jesus became conscious that his disciples were protesting about what he said, he said to them, Does this give you trouble?	John 6:61 But Jesus knowing in himself that his disciples murmured at this, said unto them, Doth this cause you to stumble?
John 6:62 What then will you say if you see the Son of man going up to where he was before?	John 6:62 [What] then if ye should behold the Son of man ascending where he was before?
John 6:63 The spirit is the life giver; the flesh is of no value: the words which I have said to you are spirit and they are life.	John 6:63 It is the spirit that giveth life; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I have spoken unto you are spirit, are are life.
John 6:64 But still some of you have no faith. For it was clear to Jesus from the first who they were who had no faith, and who it was who would be false to him.	John 6:64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who it was that should betray him.
John 6:65 And he said, This is why I said to you, No man is able to come to me if he is not given the power to do so by the Father.	John 6:65 And he said, For this cause have I said unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it be given unto him of the Father.
John 6:66 Because of what he said, a number of the disciples went back and would no longer go with him.	John 6:66 Upon this many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
John 6:67 So Jesus said to the twelve, Have you a desire to go away?	John 6:67 Jesus said therefore unto the twelve, Would ye also go away?
John 6:68 Then Simon Peter gave this answer: Lord, to whom are we to go? you have the words of eternal life;	John 6:68 Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
John 6:69 And we have faith and are certain that you are the Holy One of God.	John 6:69 And we have believed and know that thou art the Holy One of God.
John 6:70 Then Jesus said, Did I not make a selection of you, the twelve, and one of you is a son of the Evil One?	John 6:70 Jesus answered them, Did not I choose you the twelve, and one of you is a devil?
John 6:71 He was talking of Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. It was he who was to be false to Jesus--one of the twelve.	John 6:71 Now he spake of Judas [the son] of Simon Iscariot, for he it was that should betray him, [being] one of the twelve.
