Proverbes 13:1 ^
Un fils sage écoute l`instruction de son père, Mais le moqueur n`écoute pas la réprimande.

A wise son is a lover of teaching, but the ears of the haters of authority are shut to sharp words.
Proverbes 13:2 ^
Par le fruit de la bouche on jouit du bien; Mais ce que désirent les perfides, c`est la violence.
Proverbs 13:2 ^
A man will get good from the fruit of his lips, but the desire of the false is for violent acts.
Proverbes 13:3 ^
Celui qui veille sur sa bouche garde son âme; Celui qui ouvre de grandes lèvres court à sa perte.
Proverbs 13:3 ^
He who keeps a watch on his mouth keeps his life; but he whose lips are open wide will have destruction.
Proverbes 13:4 ^
L`âme du paresseux a des désirs qu`il ne peut satisfaire; Mais l`âme des hommes diligents sera rassasiée.
Proverbs 13:4 ^
The hater of work does not get his desires, but the soul of the hard workers will be made fat.

Le juste hait les paroles mensongères; Le méchant se rend odieux et se couvre de honte.

The upright man is a hater of false words: the evil-doer gets a bad name and is put to shame.

La justice garde celui dont la voie est intègre, Mais la méchanceté cause la ruine du pécheur.

Righteousness keeps safe him whose way is without error, but evil-doers are overturned by sin.

Tel fait le riche et n`a rien du tout, Tel fait le pauvre et a de grands biens.

A man may be acting as if he had wealth, but have nothing; another may seem poor, but have great wealth.

La richesse d`un homme sert de rançon pour sa vie, Mais le pauvre n`écoute pas la réprimande.
Proverbs 13:8 ^
A man will give his wealth in exchange for his life; but the poor will not give ear to sharp words.
Proverbes 13:9 ^
La lumière des justes est joyeuse, Mais la lampe des méchants s`éteint.
Proverbs 13:9 ^
There is a glad dawn for the upright man, but the light of the sinner will be put out.
Proverbes 13:10 ^
C`est seulement par orgueil qu`on excite des querelles, Mais la sagesse est avec ceux qui écoutent les conseils.

The only effect of pride is fighting; but wisdom is with the quiet in spirit.

La richesse mal acquise diminue, Mais celui qui amasse peu à peu l`augmente.

Wealth quickly got will become less; but he who gets a store by the work of his hands will have it increased.

Un espoir différé rend le coeur malade, Mais un désir accompli est un arbre de vie.

Hope put off is a weariness to the heart; but when what is desired comes, it is a tree of life.

Celui qui méprise la parole se perd, Mais celui qui craint le précepte est récompensé.

He who makes sport of the word will come to destruction, but the respecter of the law will be rewarded.

L`enseignement du sage est une source de vie, Pour détourner des pièges de la mort.

The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning men away from the nets of death.

Une raison saine a pour fruit la grâce, Mais la voie des perfides est rude.
Proverbs 13:15 ^
Wise behaviour gets approval, but the way of the false is their destruction.

Tout homme prudent agit avec connaissance, Mais l`insensé fait étalage de folie.
Proverbs 13:16 ^
A sharp man does everything with knowledge, but a foolish man makes clear his foolish thoughts.

Un envoyé méchant tombe dans le malheur, Mais un messager fidèle apporte la guérison.

A man taking false news is a cause of trouble, but he who gives news rightly makes things well.
Proverbes 13:18 ^
La pauvreté et la honte sont le partage de celui qui rejette la correction, Mais celui qui a égard à la réprimande est honoré.
Proverbs 13:18 ^
Need and shame will be the fate of him who is uncontrolled by training; but he who takes note of teaching will be honoured.
Proverbes 13:19 ^
Un désir accompli est doux à l`âme, Mais s`éloigner du mal fait horreur aux insensés.
Proverbs 13:19 ^
To get one's desire is sweet to the soul, but to give up evil is disgusting to the foolish.
Proverbes 13:20 ^
Celui qui fréquente les sages devient sage, Mais celui qui se plaît avec les insensés s`en trouve mal.
Proverbs 13:20 ^
Go with wise men and be wise: but he who keeps company with the foolish will be broken.
Proverbes 13:21 ^
Le malheur poursuit ceux qui pèchent, Mais le bonheur récompense les justes.
Proverbs 13:21 ^
Evil will overtake sinners, but the upright will be rewarded with good.
Proverbes 13:22 ^
L`homme de bien a pour héritiers les enfants de ses enfants, Mais les richesses du pécheur sont réservées pour le juste.
Proverbs 13:22 ^
The heritage of the good man is handed down to his children's children; and the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the upright man.
Proverbes 13:23 ^
Le champ que défriche le pauvre donne une nourriture abondante, Mais tel périt par défaut de justice.
Proverbs 13:23 ^
There is much food in the ploughed land of the poor; but it is taken away by wrongdoing.
Proverbes 13:24 ^
Celui qui ménage sa verge hait son fils, Mais celui qui l`aime cherche à le corriger.
Proverbs 13:24 ^
He who keeps back his rod is unkind to his son: the loving father gives punishment with care.
Proverbes 13:25 ^
Le juste mange et satisfait son appétit, Mais le ventre des méchants éprouve la disette.
Proverbs 13:25 ^
The upright man has food to the full measure of his desire, but there will be no food for the stomach of evil-doers.
