| Now after these things, the Lord made selection of seventy others and sent them before him, two together, into every town and place where he himself was about to come. | Y DESPUÉS de estas cosas, designó el Señor aun otros setenta, los cuales envió de dos en dos delante de sí, á toda ciudad y lugar á donde él había de venir. |
| And he said to them, There is much grain ready to be cut, but not enough workers: so make prayer to the Lord of the grain-fields that he will send workers to get in the grain. | Y les decía: La mies á la verdad es mucha, mas los obreros pocos; por tanto, rogad al Señor de la mies que envíe obreros á su mies. |
| Go on your way: see, I send you out like lambs among wolves. | Andad, he aquí yo os envío como corderos en medio de lobos. |
| Take no bag for money or for food, and no shoes; say no word to any man on the way. | No llevéis bolsa, ni alforja, ni calzado; y á nadie saludéis en el camino. |
| And whenever you go into a house, first say, Peace be to this house. | En cualquiera casa donde entrareis, primeramente decid: Paz sea á esta casa. |
| And if a son of peace is there, your peace will be with him: but if not, it will come back to you again. | Y si hubiere allí algún hijo de paz, vuestra paz reposará sobre él; y si no, se volverá á vosotros. |
| And keep in that same house, taking what food and drink they give you: for the worker has a right to his reward. Do not go from house to house. | Y posad en aquella misma casa, comiendo y bebiendo lo que os dieren; porque el obrero digno es de su salario. No os paséis de casa en casa. |
| And into whatever town you go, if they take you in, take whatever food is given to you: | Y en cualquiera ciudad donde entrareis, y os recibieren, comed lo que os pusieren delante; |
| And make well those in it who are ill and say to them, The kingdom of God is near to you. | Y sanad los enfermos que en ella hubiere, y decidles: Se ha llegado á vosotros el reino de Dios. |
| But if you go into a town where they will not have you, go out into the streets of it and say, | Mas en cualquier ciudad donde entrareis, y no os recibieren, saliendo por sus calles, decid: |
| Even the dust of your town, which is on our feet, we put off as a witness against you; but be certain of this, that the kingdom of God is near. | Aun el polvo que se nos ha pegado de vuestra ciudad á nuestros pies, sacudimos en vosotros: esto empero sabed, que el reino de los cielos se ha llegado á vosotros. |
| I say to you, It will be better in that day for Sodom than for that town. | Y os digo que los de Sodoma tendrán más remisión aquel día, que aquella ciudad. |
| A curse is on you, Chorazin! A curse is on you, Beth-saida! For if such works of power had been done in Tyre and Sidon as have been done in you, they would have been turned from their sins, in days gone by, seated in the dust. | ¡Ay de ti, Corazín! ¡Ay de ti, Bethsaida! que si en Tiro y en Sidón hubieran sido hechas las maravillas que se han hecho en vosotras, ya días ha que, sentados en cilicio y ceniza, se habrían arrepentido. |
| But it will be better for Tyre and Sidon, in the day of judging, than for you. | Por tanto, Tiro y Sidón tendrán más remisión que vosotras en el juicio. |
| And you, Capernaum, were you not lifted up to heaven? you will go down to hell. | Y tú, Capernaum, que hasta los cielos estás levantada, hasta los infiernos serás abajada. |
| Whoever gives ear to you, gives ear to me; and whoever is against you, is against me; and whoever is against me, is against him who sent me. | El que á vosotros oye, á mí oye; y el que á vosotros desecha, á mí desecha; y el que á mí desecha, desecha al que me envió. |
| And the seventy came back with joy, saying, Lord, even the evil spirits are under our power in your name. | Y volvieron los setenta con gozo, diciendo: Señor, aun los demonios se nos sujetan en tu nombre. |
| And he said, I was watching for Satan, falling from heaven like a star. | Y les dijo: Yo veía á Satanás, como un rayo, que caía del cielo. |
| See, I have given you power to put your feet on snakes and evil beasts, and over all the strength of him who is against you: and nothing will do you damage. | He aquí os doy potestad de hollar sobre las serpientes y sobre los escorpiones, y sobre toda fuerza del enemigo, y nada os dañará. |
| Do not be glad, however, because you have power over spirits, but because your names are recorded in heaven. | Mas no os gocéis de esto, que los espíritus se os sujetan; antes gozaos de que vuestros nombres están escritos en los cielos. |
| In that same hour he was full of joy in the Holy Spirit and said, I give praise to you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have kept these things secret from the wise and the men of learning, and have made them clear to little children: for so, O Father, it was pleasing in your eyes. | En aquella misma hora Jesús se alegró en espíritu, y dijo: Yo te alabo, oh Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, que escondiste estas cosas á los sabios y entendidos, y las has revelado á los pequeños: así, Padre, porque así te agradó. |
| All things have been given to me by my Father: and no one has knowledge of the Son, but only the Father: and of the Father, but only the Son, and he to whom the Son will make it clear. | Todas las cosas me son entregadas de mi Padre: y nadie sabe quién sea el Hijo sino el Padre; ni quién sea el Padre, sino el Hijo, y á quien el Hijo lo quisiere revelar. |
| And, turning to the disciples, he said privately, Happy are the eyes which see the things you see: | Y vuelto particularmente á los discípulos, dijo: Bienaventurados los ojos que ven lo que vosotros veis: |
| For I say to you that numbers of prophets and kings have had a desire to see the things which you see, and have not seen them, and to have knowledge of the things which have come to your ears, and they had it not. | Porque os digo que muchos profetas y reyes desearon ver lo que vosotros veis, y no lo vieron; y oir lo que oís, y no lo oyeron. |
| And a certain teacher of the law got up and put him to the test, saying, Master, what have I to do so that I may have eternal life? | Y he aquí, un doctor de la ley se levantó, tentándole y diciendo: Maestro, ¿haciendo qué cosa poseeré la vida eterna? |
| And he said to him, What does the law say, in your reading of it? | Y él dijo: ¿Qué está escrito de la ley? ¿cómo lees? |
| And he, answering, said, Have love for the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and for your neighbour as for yourself. | Y él respondiendo, dijo: Amarás al Señor tu Dios de todo tu corazón, y de toda tu alma, y de todas tus fuerzas, y de todo tu entendimiento; y á tu prójimo como á ti mismo. |
| And he said, You have given the right answer: do this and you will have life. | Y díjole: Bien has respondido: haz esto, y vivirás. |
| But he, desiring to put himself in the right, said to Jesus, And who is my neighbour? | Mas él, queriéndose justificar á sí mismo, dijo á Jesús: ¿Y quién es mi prójimo? |
| And Jesus, answering him, said, A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he got into the hands of thieves, who took his clothing and gave him cruel blows, and when they went away, he was half dead. | Y respondiendo Jesús, dijo: Un hombre descendía de Jerusalem á Jericó, y cayó en manos de ladrones, los cuales le despojaron; é hiriéndole, se fueron, dejándole medio muerto. |
| And by chance a certain priest was going down that way: and when he saw him, he went by on the other side. | Y aconteció, que descendió un sacerdote por aquel camino, y viéndole, se pasó de un lado. |
| And in the same way, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, went by on the other side. | Y asimismo un Levita, llegando cerca de aquel lugar, y viéndole, se pasó de un lado. |
| But a certain man of Samaria, journeying that way, came where he was, and when he saw him, he was moved with pity for him, | Mas un Samaritano que transitaba, viniendo cerca de él, y viéndole, fué movido á misericordia; |
| And came to him and put clean linen round his wounds, with oil and wine; and he put him on his beast and took him to a house and took care of him. | Y llegándose, vendó sus heridas, echándo les aceite y vino; y poniéndole sobre su cabalgadura, llevóle al mesón, y cuidó de él. |
| And the day after he took two pennies and gave them to the owner of the house and said, Take care of him; and if this money is not enough, when I come again I will give you whatever more is needed. | Y otro día al partir, sacó dos denarios, y diólos al huésped, y le dijo: Cuídamele; y todo lo que de más gastares, yo cuando vuelva te lo pagaré. |
| Which of these three men, in your opinion, was neighbour to the man who came into the hands of thieves? | ¿Quién, pues, de estos tres te parece que fué el prójimo de aquél que cayó en manos de los ladrónes? |
| And he said, The one who had mercy on him. And Jesus said, Go and do the same. | Y él dijo: El que usó con él de misericordia. Entonces Jesús le dijo: Ve, y haz tú lo mismo. |
| Now, while they were on their way, he came to a certain town; and a woman named Martha took him into her house. | Y aconteció que yendo, entró él en una aldea: y una mujer llamada Marta, le recibió en su casa. |
| And she had a sister, by name Mary, who took her seat at the Lord's feet and gave attention to his words. | Y ésta tenía una hermana que se llamaba María, la cual sentándose á los pies de Jesús, oía su palabra. |
| But Martha had her hands full of the work of the house, and she came to him and said, Lord, is it nothing to you that my sister has let me do all the work? Say to her that she is to give me some help. | Empero Marta se distraía en muchos servicios; y sobreviniendo, dice: Señor, ¿no tienes cuidado que mi hermana me deja servir sola? Dile pues, que me ayude. |
| But the Lord, answering, said to her, Martha, Martha, you are full of care and troubled about such a number of things: | Pero respondiendo Jesús, le dijo: Marta, Marta, cuidadosa estás, y con las muchas cosas estás turbada: |
| Little is needed, or even one thing only: for Mary has taken that good part, which will not be taken away from her. | Empero una cosa es necesaria; y María escogió la buena parte, la cual no le será quitada. |
