| Then Zophar the Naamathite made answer and said, | И отвечал Софар Наамитянин и сказал: |
| For this cause my thoughts are troubling me and driving me on. | размышления мои побуждают меня отвечать, и я поспешаю выразить их. |
| I have to give ear to arguments which put me to shame, and your answers to me are wind without wisdom. | Упрек, позорный для меня, выслушал я, и дух разумения моего ответит за меня. |
| Have you knowledge of this from early times, when man was placed on the earth, | Разве не знаешь ты, что от века, --с того времени, как поставлен человек на земле, -- |
| That the pride of the sinner is short, and the joy of the evil-doer but for a minute? | веселье беззаконных кратковременно, и радость лицемера мгновенна? |
| Though he is lifted up to the heavens, and his head goes up to the clouds; | Хотя бы возросло до небес величие его, и голова его касалась облаков, -- |
| Like the waste from his body he comes to an end for ever: those who have seen him say, Where is he? | как помет его, на веки пропадает он; видевшие его скажут: где он? |
| He is gone like a dream, and is not seen again; he goes in flight like a vision of the night. | Как сон, улетит, и не найдут его; и, как ночное видение, исчезнет. |
| The eye which saw him sees him no longer; and his place has no more knowledge of him. | Глаз, видевший его, больше не увидит его, и уже не усмотрит его место его. |
| His children are hoping that the poor will be kind to them, and his hands give back his wealth. | Сыновья его будут заискивать у нищих, и руки его возвратят похищенное им. |
| His bones are full of young strength, but it will go down with him into the dust. | Кости его наполнены грехами юности его, и с ним лягут они в прах. |
| Though evil-doing is sweet in his mouth, and he keeps it secretly under his tongue; | Если сладко во рту его зло, и он таит его под языком своим, |
| Though he takes care of it, and does not let it go, but keeps it still in his mouth; | бережет и не бросает его, а держит его в устах своих, |
| His food becomes bitter in his stomach; the poison of snakes is inside him. | то эта пища его в утробе его превратится в желчь аспидов внутри его. |
| He takes down wealth as food, and sends it up again; it is forced out of his stomach by God. | Имение, которое он глотал, изблюет: Бог исторгнет его из чрева его. |
| He takes the poison of snakes into his mouth, the tongue of the snake is the cause of his death. | Змеиный яд он сосет; умертвит его язык ехидны. |
| Let him not see the rivers of oil, the streams of honey and milk. | Не видать ему ручьев, рек, текущих медом и молоком! |
| He is forced to give back the fruit of his work, and may not take it for food; he has no joy in the profit of his trading. | Нажитое трудом возвратит, не проглотит; по мере имения его будет и расплата его, а он не порадуется. |
| Because he has been cruel to the poor, turning away from them in their trouble; because he has taken a house by force which he did not put up; | Ибо он угнетал, отсылал бедных; захватывал домы, которых не строил; |
| There is no peace for him in his wealth, and no salvation for him in those things in which he took delight. | не знал сытости во чреве своем и в жадности своей не щадил ничего. |
| He had never enough for his desire; for this cause his well-being will quickly come to an end. | Ничего не спаслось от обжорства его, зато не устоит счастье его. |
| Even when his wealth is great, he is full of care, for the hand of everyone who is in trouble is turned against him. | В полноте изобилия будет тесно ему; всякая рука обиженного поднимется на него. |
| God gives him his desire, and sends the heat of his wrath on him, making it come down on him like rain. | Когда будет чем наполнить утробу его, Он пошлет на него ярость гнева Своего и одождит на него болезни в плоти его. |
| He may go in flight from the iron spear, but the arrow from the bow of brass will go through him; | Убежит ли он от оружия железного, --пронзит его лук медный; |
| He is pulling it out, and it comes out of his back; and its shining point comes out of his side; he is overcome by fears. | станет вынимать [стрелу], --и она выйдет из тела, выйдет, сверкая сквозь желчь его; ужасы смерти найдут на него! |
| All his wealth is stored up for the dark: a fire not made by man sends destruction on him, and on everything in his tent. | Все мрачное сокрыто внутри его; будет пожирать его огонь, никем не раздуваемый; зло постигнет и оставшееся в шатре его. |
| The heavens make clear his sin, and the earth gives witness against him. | Небо откроет беззаконие его, и земля восстанет против него. |
| The produce of his house is taken away into another country, like things given into the hands of others in the day of wrath. | Исчезнет стяжание дома его; все расплывется в день гнева Его. |
| This is the reward of the evil man, and the heritage given to him by God. | Вот удел человеку беззаконному от Бога и наследие, определенное ему Вседержителем! |
