| Now Abraham was old and far on in years: and the Lord had given him everything in full measure. | Авраам был уже стар и в летах преклонных. Господь благословил Авраама всем. |
| And Abraham said to his chief servant, the manager of all his property, Come now, put your hand under my leg: | И сказал Авраам рабу своему, старшему в доме его, управлявшему всем, что у него было: положи руку твою под стегно мое |
| And take an oath by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you will not get a wife for my son Isaac from the daughters of the Canaanites among whom I am living; | и клянись мне Господом, Богом неба и Богом земли, что ты не возьмешь сыну моему жены из дочерей Хананеев, среди которых я живу, |
| But that you will go into my country and to my relations and get a wife there for my son Isaac. | но пойдешь в землю мою, на родину мою, и возьмешь жену сыну моему Исааку. |
| And the servant said, If by chance the woman will not come with me into this land, am I to take your son back again to the land from which you came? | Раб сказал ему: может быть, не захочет женщина идти со мною в эту землю, должен ли я возвратить сына твоего в землю, из которой ты вышел? |
| And Abraham said, Take care that you do not let my son go back to that land. | Авраам сказал ему: берегись, не возвращай сына моего туда; |
| The Lord God of heaven, who took me from my father's house and from the land of my birth, and made an oath to me, saying, To your seed I will give this land: he will send his angel before you and give you a wife for my son in that land. | Господь, Бог неба, Который взял меня из дома отца моего и из земли рождения моего, Который говорил мне и Который клялся мне, говоря: `потомству твоему дам сию землю`, --Он пошлет Ангела Своего пред тобою, и ты возьмешь жену сыну моему оттуда; |
| And if the woman will not come with you, then you are free from this oath; only do not take my son back there. | если же не захочет женщина идти с тобою, ты будешь свободен от сей клятвы моей; только сына моего не возвращай туда. |
| And the servant put his hand under Abraham's leg, and gave him his oath about this thing. | И положил раб руку свою под стегно Авраама, господина своего, и клялся ему в сем. |
| And the servant took ten of his master's camels, and all sorts of good things of his master's, and went to Mesopotamia, to the town of Nahor. | И взял раб из верблюдов господина своего десять верблюдов и пошел. В руках у него были также всякие сокровища господина его. Он встал и пошел в Месопотамию, в город Нахора, |
| And he made the camels take their rest outside the town by the water-spring in the evening, at the time when the women came to get water. | и остановил верблюдов вне города, у колодезя воды, под вечер, в то время, когда выходят женщины черпать, |
| And he said, O Lord, the God of my master Abraham, let me do well in what I have undertaken this day, and give your mercy to my master Abraham. | и сказал: Господи, Боже господина моего Авраама! пошли [ее] сегодня навстречу мне и сотвори милость с господином моим Авраамом; |
| See, I am waiting here by the water-spring; and the daughters of the town are coming out to get water: | вот, я стою у источника воды, и дочери жителей города выходят черпать воду; |
| Now, may the girl to whom I say, Let down your vessel and give me a drink, and who says in answer, Here is a drink for you and let me give water to your camels: may she be the one marked out by you for your servant Isaac: so may I be certain that you have been good to my master Abraham. | и девица, которой я скажу: `наклони кувшин твой, я напьюсь`, и которая скажет: `пей, я и верблюдам твоим дам пить`, --вот та, которую Ты назначил рабу Твоему Исааку; и по сему узнаю я, что Ты творишь милость с господином моим. |
| And even before his words were ended, Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel, the son of Milcah, who was the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, came out with her water-vessel on her arm. | Еще не перестал он говорить, и вот, вышла Ревекка, которая родилась от Вафуила, сына Милки, жены Нахора, брата Авраамова, и кувшин ее на плече ее; |
| She was a very beautiful girl, a virgin, who had never been touched by a man: and she went down to the spring to get water in her vessel. | девица [была] прекрасна видом, дева, которой не познал муж. Она сошла к источнику, наполнила кувшин свой и пошла вверх. |
| And the servant came running to her and said, Give me a little water from your vessel. | И побежал раб навстречу ей и сказал: дай мне испить немного воды из кувшина твоего. |
| And she said, Take a drink, my lord: and quickly letting down her vessel onto her hand, she gave him a drink. | Она сказала: пей, господин мой. И тотчас спустила кувшин свой на руку свою и напоила его. |
| And having done so, she said, I will get water for your camels till they have had enough. | И, когда напоила его, сказала: я стану черпать и для верблюдов твоих, пока не напьются. |
| And after putting the water from her vessel into the animals' drinking-place, she went quickly back to the spring and got water for all the camels. | И тотчас вылила воду из кувшина своего в поило и побежала опять к колодезю почерпнуть, и начерпала для всех верблюдов его. |
| And the man, looking at her, said nothing, waiting to see if the Lord had given his journey a good outcome. | Человек тот смотрел на нее с изумлением в молчании, желая уразуметь, благословил ли Господь путь его, или нет. |
| And when the camels had had enough, the man took a gold nose-ring, half a shekel in weight, and two ornaments for her arms of ten shekels weight of gold; | Когда верблюды перестали пить, тогда человек тот взял золотую серьгу, весом полсикля, и два запястья на руки ей, весом в десять [сиклей] золота; |
| And said to her, Whose daughter are you? is there room in your father's house for us? | И сказал: чья ты дочь? скажи мне, есть ли в доме отца твоего место нам ночевать? |
| And she said to him, I am the daughter of Bethuel, the son of Milcah, Nahor's wife. | Она сказала ему: я дочь Вафуила, сына Милки, которого она родила Нахору. |
| And she said, We have a great store of dry grass and cattle-food, and there is room for you. | И еще сказала ему: у нас много соломы и корму, и [есть] место для ночлега. |
| And with bent head the man gave worship to the Lord; | И преклонился человек тот и поклонился Господу, |
| And said, Praise be to the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has given a sign that he is good and true to my master, by guiding me straight to the house of my master's family. | и сказал: благословен Господь Бог господина моего Авраама, Который не оставил господина моего милостью Своею и истиною Своею! Господь прямым путем привел меня к дому брата господина моего. |
| So the girl went running and took the news of these things to her mother's house | Девица побежала и рассказала об этом в доме матери своей. |
| Now Rebekah had a brother named Laban, and he came out quickly to the man at the water-spring. | У Ревекки был брат, именем Лаван. Лаван выбежал к тому человеку, к источнику. |
| And when he saw the nose-ring and the ornaments on his sister's hands, and when she gave him word of what the man had said to her, then he went out to the man who was waiting with the camels by the water-spring. | И когда он увидел серьгу и запястья на руках у сестры своей и услышал слова Ревекки, сестры своей, которая говорила: так говорил со мною этот человек, --то пришел к человеку, и вот, он стоит при верблюдах у источника; |
| And he said to him, Come in, you on whom is the blessing of the Lord; why are you waiting outside? for I have made the house ready for you, and a place for the camels. | и сказал: войди, благословенный Господом; зачем ты стоишь вне? я приготовил дом и место для верблюдов. |
| Then the man came into the house, and Laban took their cords off the camels and gave them dry grass and food, and he gave to him and the men who were with him water for washing their feet. | И вошел человек. [Лаван] расседлал верблюдов и дал соломы и корму верблюдам, и воды умыть ноги ему и людям, которые были с ним; |
| And meat was put before him, but he said, I will not take food till I have made my business clear to you. And they said, Do so. | и предложена была ему пища; но он сказал: не стану есть, доколе не скажу дела своего. И сказали: говори. |
| And he said, I am Abraham's servant. | Он сказал: я раб Авраамов; |
| The Lord has given my master every blessing, and he has become great: he has given him flocks and herds and silver and gold, and men-servants and women-servants and camels and asses. | Господь весьма благословил господина моего, и он сделался великим: Он дал ему овец и волов, серебро и золото, рабов и рабынь, верблюдов и ослов; |
| And when Sarah, my master's wife, was old, she gave birth to a son, to whom he has given all he has. | Сарра, жена господина моего, уже состарившись, родила господину моему сына, которому он отдал все, что у него; |
| And my master made me take an oath, saying, Do not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites among whom I am living; | и взял с меня клятву господин мой, сказав: не бери жены сыну моему из дочерей Хананеев, в земле которых я живу, |
| But go to my father's house and to my relations for a wife for my son. | а пойди в дом отца моего и к родственникам моим, и возьмешь жену сыну моему. |
| And I said to my master, What if the woman will not come with me? | Я сказал господину моему: может быть, не пойдет женщина со мною. |
| And he said, The Lord, whom I have ever kept before me, will send his angel with you, who will make it possible for you to get a wife for my son from my relations and my father's house; | Он сказал мне: Господь, пред лицем Которого я хожу, пошлет с тобою Ангела Своего и благоустроит путь твой, и возьмешь жену сыну моему из родных моих и из дома отца моего; |
| And you will be free from your oath to me when you come to my people; and if they will not give her to you, you will be free from your oath. | тогда будешь ты свободен от клятвы моей, когда сходишь к родственникам моим; и если они не дадут тебе, то будешь свободен от клятвы моей. |
| And I came today to the water-spring, and I said, O Lord, the God of my master Abraham, if it is your purpose to give a good outcome to my journey, | И пришел я ныне к источнику, и сказал: Господи, Боже господина моего Авраама! Если Ты благоустроишь путь, который я совершаю, |
| Let it come about that, while I am waiting here by the water-spring, if a girl comes to get water and I say to her, Give me a little water from your vessel, and she says, | то вот, я стою у источника воды, и девица, которая выйдет почерпать, и которой я скажу: дай мне испить немного из кувшина твоего, |
| Take a drink, and I will get water for your camels; let her be the woman marked out by the Lord for my master's son. | и которая скажет мне: `и ты пей, и верблюдам твоим я начерпаю` --вот жена, которую Господь назначил сыну господина моего. |
| And even while I was saying this to myself, Rebekah came out with her vessel on her arm; and she went down to the spring to get water; and I said to her, Give me a drink. | Еще не перестал я говорить в уме моем, и вот вышла Ревекка, и кувшин ее на плече ее, и сошла к источнику и почерпнула; и я сказал ей: напой меня. |
| And straight away she took down her vessel from her arm, and said, Take a drink, and I will get water for your camels. | Она тотчас спустила с себя кувшин свой и сказала: пей, и верблюдов твоих я напою. И я пил, и верблюдов она напоила. |
| And questioning her, I said, Whose daughter are you? And she said, The daughter of Bethuel, the son of Nahor, and Milcah his wife. Then I put the ring on her nose and the ornaments on her hands. | Я спросил ее и сказал: чья ты дочь? Она сказала: дочь Вафуила, сына Нахорова, которого родила ему Милка. И дал я серьги ей и запястья на руки ее. |
| And with bent head I gave worship and praise to the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, by whom I had been guided in the right way, to get the daughter of my master's brother for his son. | И преклонился я и поклонился Господу, и благословил Господа, Бога господина моего Авраама, Который прямым путем привел меня, чтобы взять дочь брата господина моего за сына его. |
| And now, say if you will do what is good and right for my master or not, in order that it may be clear to me what I have to do. | И ныне скажите мне: намерены ли вы оказать милость и правду господину моему или нет? скажите мне, и я обращусь направо, или налево. |
| Then Laban and Bethuel said in answer, This is the Lord's doing: it is not for us to say Yes or No to you. | И отвечали Лаван и Вафуил и сказали: от Господа пришло это дело; мы не можем сказать тебе вопреки ни худого, ни доброго; |
| See, here is Rebekah: take her and go, and let her be your master's son's wife, as the Lord has said. | вот Ревекка пред тобою; возьми и пойди; пусть будет она женою сыну господина твоего, как сказал Господь. |
| And at these words, Abraham's servant went down on his face and gave praise to the Lord. | Когда раб Авраамов услышал слова их, то поклонился Господу до земли. |
| Then he took jewels of silver and jewels of gold and fair robes and gave them to Rebekah: and he gave things of value to her mother and her brother. | И вынул раб серебряные вещи и золотые вещи и одежды и дал Ревекке; также и брату ее и матери ее дал богатые подарки. |
| Then he and the men who were with him had food and drink, and took their rest there that night; and in the morning he got up, and said, Let me now go back to my master. | И ели и пили он и люди, бывшие с ним, и переночевали. Когда же встали поутру, то он сказал: отпустите меня к господину моему. |
| But her brother and her mother said, Let the girl be with us a week or ten days, and then she may go. | Но брат ее и мать ее сказали: пусть побудет с нами девица дней хотя десять, потом пойдешь. |
| And he said, Do not keep me; the Lord has given a good outcome to my journey; let me now go back to my master. | Он сказал им: не удерживайте меня, ибо Господь благоустроил путь мой; отпустите меня, и я пойду к господину моему. |
| And they said, We will send for the girl, and let her make the decision. | Они сказали: призовем девицу и спросим, что она скажет. |
| And they sent for Rebekah and said to her, Are you ready to go with this man? And she said, I am ready. | И призвали Ревекку и сказали ей: пойдешь ли с этим человеком? Она сказала: пойду. |
| So they sent their sister Rebekah and her servant with Abraham's servant and his men. | И отпустили Ревекку, сестру свою, и кормилицу ее, и раба Авраамова, и людей его. |
| And they gave Rebekah their blessing, saying, O sister, may you be the mother of thousands and ten thousands; and may your seed overcome all those who make war against them. | И благословили Ревекку и сказали ей: сестра наша! да родятся от тебя тысячи тысяч, и да владеет потомство твое жилищами врагов твоих! |
| So Rebekah and her servant-women went with the man, seated on the camels; and so the servant took Rebekah and went on his way. | И встала Ревекка и служанки ее, и сели на верблюдов, и поехали за тем человеком. И раб взял Ревекку и пошел. |
| Now Isaac had come through the waste land to Beer-lahai-roi; for he was living in the South. | А Исаак пришел из Беэр-лахай-рои, ибо жил он в земле полуденной. |
| And when the evening was near, he went wandering out into the fields, and lifting up his eyes he saw camels coming. | При наступлении вечера Исаак вышел в поле поразмыслить, и возвел очи свои, и увидел: вот, идут верблюды. |
| And when Rebekah, looking up, saw Isaac, she got down from her camel, | Ревекка взглянула, и увидела Исаака, и спустилась с верблюда. |
| And said to the servant, Who is that man coming to us through the field? And the servant said, It is my master: then she took her veil, covering her face with it. | И сказала рабу: кто этот человек, который идет по полю навстречу нам? Раб сказал: это господин мой. И она взяла покрывало и покрылась. |
| Then the servant gave Isaac the story of all he had done. | Раб же сказал Исааку все, что сделал. |
| And Isaac took Rebekah into his tent and she became his wife; and in his love for her, Isaac was comforted after his father's death. | И ввел ее Исаак в шатер Сарры, матери своей, и взял Ревекку, и она сделалась ему женою, и он возлюбил ее; и утешился Исаак в [печали] по матери своей. |
