| Now let Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, come near from among the children of Israel, so that they may be my priests, even Aaron, and Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar, his sons. | Du sollst Aaron, deinen Bruder, und seine Söhne zu dir nehmen aus den Kindern Israel, daß er mein Priester sei, nämlich Aaron und seine Söhne Nadab, Abihu, Eleasar und Ithamar. |
| And make holy robes for Aaron your brother, so that he may be clothed with glory and honour. | Und sollst Aaron, deinen Bruder, heilige Kleider machen, die herrlich und schön seien. |
| Give orders to all the wise-hearted workmen, whom I have made full of the spirit of wisdom, to make robes for Aaron, so that he may be made holy as my priest. | Und du sollst reden mit allen, die eines weisen Herzens sind, die ich mit dem Geist der Weisheit erfüllt habe, daß sie Aaron Kleider machen zu seiner Weihe, daß er mein Priester sei. |
| This is what they are to make: a priest's bag, an ephod, and a robe, and a coat of coloured needlework, a head-dress, and a linen band; they are to make holy robes for Aaron your brother and for his sons, so that they may do the work of priests for me. | Das sind aber die Kleider, die sie machen sollen: das Amtschild, den Leibrock, Purpurrock, engen Rock, Hut und Gürtel. Also sollen sie heilige Kleider machen deinem Bruder Aaron und seinen Söhnen, daß er mein Priester sei. |
| They are to take the gold and blue and purple and red and the best linen, | Dazu sollen sie nehmen Gold, blauen und roten Purpur, Scharlach und weiße Leinwand. |
| And make the ephod of gold and blue and purple and red and the best linen, the work of a designer. | Den Leibrock sollen sie machen von Gold, blauem und rotem Purpur, Scharlach und gezwirnter weißer Leinwand, kunstreich; |
| It is to have two bands stitched to it at the top of the arms, joining it together. | zwei Schulterstücke soll er haben, die zusammengehen an beiden Enden, und soll zusammengebunden werden. |
| And the beautifully worked band, which goes on it, is to be of the same work and the same material, of gold and blue and purple and red and twisted linen-work. | Und sein Gurt darauf soll derselben Kunst und Arbeit sein, von Gold, blauem und rotem Purpur, Scharlach und gezwirnter weißer Leinwand. |
| You are to take two beryl stones, on which the names of the children of Israel are to be cut: | Und sollst zwei Onyxsteine nehmen und darauf graben die Namen der Kinder Israel, |
| Six names on the one stone and six on the other, in the order of their birth. | Auf jeglichen sechs Namen, nach der Ordnung ihres Alters. |
| With the work of a jeweller, like the cutting of a stamp, the names of the children of Israel are to be cut on them, and they are to be fixed in twisted frames of gold. | Das sollst du tun durch die Steinschneider, die da Siegel graben, also daß sie mit Gold umher gefaßt werden. |
| And the two stones are to be placed on the ephod, over the arm-holes, to be stones of memory for the children of Israel: Aaron will have their names on his arms when he goes in before the Lord, to keep the Lord in mind of them. | Und sollst sie auf die Schulterstücke des Leibrocks heften, daß es Steine seien zum Gedächtnis für die Kinder Israel, daß Aaron ihre Namen auf seinen beiden Schultern trage vor dem HERRN zum Gedächtnis. |
| And you are to make twisted frames of gold; | Und sollst goldene Fassungen machen |
| And two chains of the best gold, twisted like cords; and have the chains fixed on to the frames. | und zwei Ketten von feinem Golde, mit zwei Enden, aber die Glieder ineinander hangend; und sollst sie an die Fassungen tun. |
| And make a priest's bag for giving decisions, designed like the ephod, made of gold and blue and purple and red and the best linen. | Das Amtschild sollst du machen nach der Kunst, wie den Leibrock, von Gold, blauem und rotem Purpur, Scharlach und gezwirnter weißer Leinwand. |
| It is to be square, folded in two, a hand-stretch long and a hand-stretch wide. | Viereckig soll es sein und zwiefach; eine Spanne breit soll seine Länge sein und eine Spanne breit seine Breite. |
| And on it you are to put four lines of jewels; the first line is to be a cornelian, a chrysolite, and an emerald; | Und sollst's füllen die vier Reihen voll Steine. Die erste Reihe sei ein Sarder, Topas, Smaragd; |
| The second, a ruby, a sapphire, and an onyx; | die andere ein Rubin, Saphir, Demant; |
| The third, a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst; | die dritte ein Lynkurer, Achat, Amethyst; |
| The fourth, a topaz, a beryl, and a jasper; they are to be fixed in twisted frames of gold. | die vierte ein Türkis, Onyx, Jaspis. In Gold sollen sie gefaßt sein in allen Reihen |
| The jewels are to be twelve in number, for the names of the children of Israel; every jewel having the name of one of the twelve tribes cut on it as on a stamp. | und sollen nach den zwölf Namen der Kinder Israel stehen, gegraben vom Steinschneider, daß auf einem jeglichen ein Namen stehe nach den zwölf Stämmen. |
| And you are to make two chains of gold, twisted like cords, to be fixed to the priest's bag. | Und sollst Ketten zu dem Schild machen mit zwei Enden, aber die Glieder ineinander hangend, von feinem Golde, |
| And put two gold rings on the two ends of the bag. | und zwei goldene Ringe an das Schild, also daß du die zwei Ringe heftest an zwei Ecken des Schildes, |
| Put the two gold chains on the two rings at the ends of the bag; | und die zwei goldenen Ketten in die zwei Ringe an den beiden Ecken des Schildes tust. |
| Joining the other ends of the chains to the gold frames and putting them on the front of the ephod, at the top of the arms. | Aber die zwei Enden der zwei Ketten sollst du an die zwei Fassungen tun und sie heften auf die Schulterstücke am Leibrock vornehin. |
| Then make two gold rings and put them on the lower ends of the bag, at the edge of it on the inner side nearest to the ephod. | Und sollst zwei andere goldene Ringe machen und an die zwei Ecken des Schildes heften an seinem Rand, inwendig gegen den Leibrock. |
| And make two more gold rings and put them on the front of the ephod at the top of the arms, at the join, over the worked band: | Und sollst abermals zwei goldene Ringe machen und sie unten an die zwei Schulterstücke vorn am Leibrock heften, wo der Leibrock zusammengeht, oben über dem Gurt des Leibrocks. |
| So that the rings on the bag may be fixed to the rings of the ephod by a blue cord and on to the band of the ephod, so that the bag may not come loose from the ephod. | Und man soll das Schild mit seinen Ringen mit einer blauen Schnur an die Ringe des Leibrocks knüpfen, daß es über dem Gurt des Leibrocks hart anliege und das Schild sich nicht vom Leibrock losmache. |
| And so Aaron will have the names of the children of Israel on the priest's bag over his heart whenever he goes into the holy place, to keep the memory of them before the Lord. | Also soll Aaron die Namen der Kinder Israel tragen in dem Amtschild auf seinem Herzen, wenn er in das Heilige geht, zum Gedächtnis vor dem HERRN allezeit. |
| And in the bag you are to put the Urim and Thummim, so that they may be on Aaron's heart whenever he goes in before the Lord; and Aaron may have the power of making decisions for the children of Israel before the Lord at all times. | Und sollst in das Amtschild tun Licht und Recht, daß sie auf dem Herzen Aarons seien, wenn er eingeht vor den HERRN, daß er trage das Amt der Kinder Israel auf seinem Herzen vor dem HERRN allewege. |
| The robe which goes with the ephod is to be made all of blue; | Du sollst auch einen Purpurrock unter dem Leibrock machen ganz von blauem Purpur. |
| With a hole at the top, in the middle of it; the hole is to be edged with a band to make it strong like the hole in the coat of a fighting-man, so that it may not be broken open. | Und oben mitteninne soll ein Loch sein und eine Borte um das Loch her zusammengefaltet, daß er nicht zerreiße. |
| And round the skirts of it put fruits in blue and purple and red, with bells of gold between; | Und unten an seinen Saum sollst du Granatäpfel machen von blauem und rotem Purpur und Scharlach um und um und zwischen dieselben goldene Schellen auch um und um, |
| A gold bell and a fruit in turn all round the skirts of the robe. | daß eine goldene Schelle sei, darnach ein Granatapfel und wieder eine goldene Schelle und wieder ein Granatapfel, um und um an dem Saum des Purpurrocks. |
| Aaron is to put it on for his holy work; and the sound of it will be clear, when he goes into the holy place before the Lord, and when he comes out, keeping him safe from death. | Und Aaron soll ihn anhaben, wenn er dient, daß man seinen Klang höre, wenn er aus und eingeht in das Heilige vor dem HERRN, auf daß er nicht sterbe. |
| You are to make a plate of the best gold, cutting on it, as on a stamp, these words: HOLY TO THE LORD. | Du sollst auch ein Stirnblatt machen von feinem Golde und darauf ausgraben, wie man die Siegel ausgräbt: Heilig dem HERRN. |
| Put a blue cord on it and put it on the front of the twisted head-dress: | Und sollst's heften an eine blaue Schnur vorn an den Hut, |
| And it will be over Aaron's brow, so that Aaron will be responsible for any error in all the holy offerings made by the children of Israel; it will be on his brow at all times, so that their offerings may be pleasing to the Lord. | auf der Stirn Aarons, daß also Aaron trage die Missetat des Heiligen, das die Kinder Israel heiligen in allen Gaben ihrer Heiligung; und es soll allewege an seiner Stirn sein, daß er sie versöhne vor dem HERRN. |
| The coat is to be made of the best linen, worked in squares; and you are to make a head-dress of linen, and a linen band worked in needlework. | Du sollst auch einen engen Rock machen von weißer Leinwand und einen Hut von weißer Leinwand machen und einen gestickten Gürtel. |
| And for Aaron's sons you are to make coats, and bands, and head-dresses, so that they may be clothed with glory and honour. | Und den Söhnen Aarons sollst du Röcke, Gürtel und Hauben machen, die herrlich und schön seien. |
| These you are to put on Aaron, your brother, and on his sons, putting oil on them, separating them and making them holy, to do the work of priests to me. | Und sollst sie deinem Bruder Aaron samt seinen Söhnen anziehen; und sollst sie salben und ihre Hände füllen und sie weihen, daß sie meine Priester seien. |
| And you are to make them linen trousers, covering their bodies from the middle to the knee; | Und sollst ihnen leinene Beinkleider machen, zu bedecken die Blöße des Fleisches von den Lenden bis an die Hüften. |
| Aaron and his sons are to put these on whenever they go into the Tent of meeting or come near the altar, when they are doing the work of the holy place, so that they may be free from any sin causing death: this is to be an order for him and his seed after him for ever. | Und Aaron und seine Söhne sollen sie anhaben, wenn sie in die Hütte des Stifts gehen oder hinzutreten zum Altar, daß sie dienen in dem Heiligtum, daß sie nicht ihre Missetat tragen und sterben müssen. Das soll ihm und seinem Stamm nach ihm eine ewige Weise sein. |
