| OH Dios, con nuestros oídos hemos oído, nuestros padres nos han contado, La obra que hiciste en sus días, en los tiempos antiguos. | To the chief music-maker. Of the sons of Korah Maschil.It has come to our ears, O God, our fathers have given us the story, of the works which you did in their days, in the old times, |
| Tú con tu mano echaste las gentes, y los plantaste á ellos; Afligiste los pueblos, y los arrojaste. | Uprooting the nations with your hand, and planting our fathers in their place; cutting down the nations, but increasing the growth of your people. |
| Porque no se apoderaron de la tierra por su espada, Ni su brazo los libró; Sino tu diestra, y tu brazo, y la luz de tu rostro, Porque te complaciste en ellos. | For they did not make the land theirs by their swords, and it was not their arms which kept them safe; but your right hand, and your arm, and the light of your face, because you had pleasure in them. |
| Tú, oh Dios, eres mi rey: Manda saludes á Jacob. | You are my King and my God; ordering salvation for Jacob. |
| Por medio de ti sacudiremos á nuestros enemigos: En tu nombre atropellaremos á nuestros adversarios. | Through you will we overcome our haters; by your name will they be crushed under our feet who are violent against us. |
| Porque no confiaré en mi arco, Ni mi espada me salvará. | I will not put faith in my bow, my sword will not be my salvation. |
| Pues tú nos has guardado de nuestros enemigos, Y has avergonzado á los que nos aborrecían. | But it is you who have been our saviour from those who were against us, and have put to shame those who had hate for us. |
| En Dios nos gloriaremos todo tiempo, Y para siempre loaremos tu nombre. (Selah.) | Our pride is in God at all times, to his name we give praise for ever. (Selah.) |
| Empero nos has desechado, y nos has hecho avergonzar; Y no sales en nuestros ejércitos. | But now you have sent us away from you, and put us to shame; you do not go out with our armies. |
| Nos hiciste retroceder del enemigo, Y saqueáron nos para sí los que nos aborrecían. | Because of this we are turned back by the attacker: those who have hate for us take our goods for themselves. |
| Pusístenos como á ovejas para comida, Y esparcístenos entre las gentes. | You have made us like sheep which are taken for meat; we are put to flight among the nations. |
| Has vendido tu pueblo de balde, Y no pujaste en sus precios. | You let your people go for nothing; your wealth is not increased by their price. |
| Pusístenos por vergüenza á nuestros vecinos, Por escarnio y por burla á los que nos rodean. | You have made us to be looked down on by our neighbours, we are laughed at and shamed by those who are round about us. |
| Pusístenos por proverbio entre las gentes, Por movimiento de cabeza en los pueblos. | Our name is a word of shame among the nations, a sign for the shaking of heads among the peoples. |
| Cada día mi vergüenza está delante de mí, Y cúbreme la confusión de mi rostro, | My downfall is ever before me, and I am covered with the shame of my face; |
| Por la voz del que me vitupera y deshonra, Por razón del enemigo y del que se venga. | Because of the voice of him who says sharp and bitter words; because of the hater and him who is the instrument of punishment. |
| Todo esto nos ha venido, y no nos hemos olvidado de ti; Y no hemos faltado á tu pacto. | All this has come on us, but still we have kept you in our memory; and we have not been false to your word. |
| No se ha vuelto atrás nuestro corazón, Ni tampoco se han apartado nuestros pasos de tus caminos. | Our hearts have not gone back, and our steps have not been turned out of your way; |
| Cuando nos quebrantaste en el lugar de los dragones, Y nos cubriste con sombra de muerte, | Though you have let us be crushed in the place of jackals, though we are covered with darkest shade. |
| Si nos hubiésemos olvidado del nombre de nuestro Dios, O alzado nuestras manos á dios ajeno, | If the name of our God has gone out of our minds, or if our hands have been stretched out to a strange god, |
| ¿No demandaría Dios esto? Porque él conoce los secretos del corazón. | Will not God make search for it? for he sees the secrets of the heart. |
| Empero por tu causa nos matan cada día; Somos tenidos como ovejas para el matadero. | Truly, because of you we are put to death every day; we are numbered like sheep for destruction. |
| Despierta; ¿por qué duermes, Señor? Despierta, no te alejes para siempre. | Why are you sleeping, O Lord? awake! and come to our help, do not give us up for ever. |
| ¿Por qué escondes tu rostro, Y te olvidas de nuestra aflicción, y de la opresión nuestra? | Why is your face covered, and why do you give no thought to our trouble and our cruel fate? |
| Porque nuestra alma está agobiada hasta el polvo: Nuestro vientre está pegado con la tierra. | For our souls are crushed down to the dust: our bodies are stretched out on the earth. |
| Levántate para ayudarnos, Y redímenos por tu misericordia. | Up! and come to our help, and give us salvation because of your mercy. |
