| OID la palabra que Jehová ha hablado sobre vosotros, oh casa de Israel. | Give ear to the word which the Lord says to you, O people of Israel: |
| Así dijo Jehová: No aprendáis el camino de las gentes, ni de las señales del cielo tengáis temor, aunque las gentes las teman. | This is what the Lord has said: Do not go in the way of the nations; have no fear of the signs of heaven, for the nations go in fear of them. |
| Porque las ordenanzas de los pueblos son vanidad: porque leño del monte cortaron, obra de manos de artífice con azuela. | For that which is feared by the people is foolish: it is the work of the hands of the workman; for a tree is cut down by him out of the woods with his axe. |
| Con plata y oro lo engalanan; con clavos y martillo lo afirman, para que no se salga. | They make it beautiful with silver and gold; they make it strong with nails and hammers, so that it may not be moved. |
| Como palma lo igualan, y no hablan; son llevados, porque no pueden andar. No tengáis temor de ellos; porque ni pueden hacer mal, ni para hacer bien tienen poder. | It is like a pillar in a garden of plants, and has no voice: it has to be lifted, for it has no power of walking. Have no fear of it; for it has no power of doing evil and it is not able to do any good. |
| No hay semejante á tí, oh Jehová; grande tú, y grande tu nombre en fortaleza. | There is no one like you, O Lord; you are great and your name is great in power. |
| ¿Quién no te temerá, oh Rey de las gentes? porque á tí compete ello; porque entre todos los sabios de las gentes, y en todos sus reinos, no hay semejante á ti. | Who would not have fear of you, O King of the nations? for it is your right: for among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is no one like you. |
| Y todos se infatuarán, y entontecerán. Enseñanza de vanidades es el mismo leño. | But they are together like beasts and foolish: the teaching of false gods is wood. |
| Traerán plata extendida de Tarsis, y oro de Uphaz; obrará el artífice, y las manos del fundidor; vestiránlos de cárdeno y de púrpura: obra de peritos es todo. | Silver hammered into plates is sent from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the expert workman and of the hands of the gold-worker; blue and purple is their clothing, all the work of expert men. |
| Mas Jehová Dios es la verdad; él es Dios vivo y Rey eterno: á su ira tiembla la tierra, y las gentes no pueden sufrir su saña. | But the Lord is the true God; he is the living God and an eternal king: when he is angry, the earth is shaking with fear, and the nations give way before his wrath. |
| Les diréis así: Los dioses que no hicieron los cielos ni la tierra, perezcan de la tierra y de debajo de estos cielos. | This is what you are to say to them: The gods who have not made the heavens and the earth will be cut off from the earth and from under the heavens. |
| El que hizo la tierra con su potencia, el que puso en orden el mundo con su saber, y extendió los cielos con su prudencia; | He has made the earth by his power, he has made the world strong in its place by his wisdom, and by his wise design the heavens have been stretched out. |
| A su voz se da muchedumbre de aguas en el cielo, y hace subir las nubes de lo postrero de la tierra; hace los relámpagos con la lluvia, y saca el viento de sus depósitos. | At the sound of his voice there is a massing of waters in the heavens, and he makes the mists go up from the ends of the earth; he makes the thunder-flames for the rain, and sends out the wind from his store-houses. |
| Todo hombre se embrutece y le falta ciencia; avergüéncese de su vaciadizo todo fundidor: porque mentira es su obra de fundición, y no hay espíritu en ellos; | Then every man becomes like a beast without knowledge; every gold-worker is put to shame by the image he has made: for his metal image is deceit, and there is no breath in them. |
| Vanidad son, obra de escarnios: en el tiempo de su visitación perecerán. | They are nothing, a work of error: in the time of their punishment, destruction will overtake them. |
| No es como ellos la suerte de Jacob: porque él es el Hacedor de todo, é Israel es la vara de su herencia: Jehová de los ejércitos es su nombre. | The heritage of Jacob is not like these; for the maker of all things is his heritage: the Lord of armies is his name. |
| Recoge de las tierras tus mercaderías, la que moras en lugar fuerte. | Get your goods together and go out of the land, O you who are shut up in the walled town. |
| Porque así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí que esta vez arrojaré con honda los moradores de la tierra, y he de afligirlos, para que lo hallen. | For the Lord has said, I will send the people in flight like a stone from the land at this time, troubling them so that they will be conscious of it. |
| ¡Ay de mí, por mi quebrantamiento! mi llaga es muy dolorosa. Yo empero dije: Ciertamente enfermedad mía es esta, y debo sufrirla. | Sorrow is mine for I am wounded! my wound may not be made well; and I said, Cruel is my disease, I may not be free from it. |
| Mi tienda es destruída, y todas mis cuerdas están rotas: mis hijos fueron sacados de mí, y perecieron: no hay ya más quien extienda mi tienda, ni quien levante mis cortinas. | My tent is pulled down and all my cords are broken: my children have gone from me, and they are not: no longer is there anyone to give help in stretching out my tent and hanging up my curtains. |
| Porque los pastores se infatuaron, y no buscaron á Jehová: por tanto no prosperaron, y todo su ganado se esparció. | For the keepers of the sheep have become like beasts, not looking to the Lord for directions: so they have not done wisely and all their flocks have been put to flight. |
| He aquí que voz de fama viene, y alboroto grande de la tierra del aquilón, para tornar en soledad todas las ciudades de Judá, en morada de culebras. | News is going about, see, it is coming, a great shaking is coming from the north country, so that the towns of Judah may be made waste and become the living-place of jackals. |
| Conozco, oh Jehová, que el hombre no es señor de su camino, ni del hombre que camina es ordenar sus pasos. | O Lord, I am conscious that a man's way is not in himself: man has no power of guiding his steps. |
| Castígame, oh Jehová, mas con juicio; no con tu furor, porque no me aniquiles. | O Lord, put me right, but with wise purpose; not in your wrath, or you will make me small. |
| Derrama tu enojo sobre las gentes que no te conocen, y sobre las naciones que no invocan tu nombre: porque se comieron á Jacob, y lo devoraron, y le han consumido, y asolado su morada. | Let your wrath be let loose on the nations which have no knowledge of you, and on the families who give no worship to your name: for they have made a meal of Jacob, truly they have made a meal of him and put an end to him and made his fields a waste. |
