Proverbios 1
|
| The wise sayings of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel. | LOS proverbios de Salomón, hijo de David, rey de Israel: |
| To have knowledge of wise teaching; to be clear about the words of reason: | Para entender sabiduría y doctrina; Para conocer las razones prudentes; |
| To be trained in the ways of wisdom, in righteousness and judging truly and straight behaviour: | Para recibir el consejo de prudencia, Justicia, y juicio y equidad; |
| To make the simple-minded sharp, and to give the young man knowledge, and serious purpose: | Para dar sagacidad á los simples, Y á los jóvenes inteligencia y cordura. |
| (The wise man, hearing, will get greater learning, and the acts of the man of good sense will be wisely guided:) | Oirá el sabio, y aumentará el saber; Y el entendido adquirirá consejo; |
| To get the sense of wise sayings and secrets, and of the words of the wise and their dark sayings. | Para entender parábola y declaración; Palabras de sabios, y sus dichos oscuros. |
| The fear of the Lord is the start of knowledge: but the foolish have no use for wisdom and teaching. | El principio de la sabiduría es el temor de Jehová: Los insensatos desprecian la sabiduría y la enseñanza. |
| My son, give ear to the training of your father, and do not give up the teaching of your mother: | Oye, hijo mío, la doctrina de tu padre, Y no desprecies la dirección de tu madre: |
| For they will be a crown of grace for your head, and chain-ornaments about your neck. | Porque adorno de gracia serán á tu cabeza, Y collares á tu cuello. |
| My son, if sinners would take you out of the right way, do not go with them. | Hijo mío, si los pecadores te quisieren engañar, No consientas. |
| If they say, Come with us; let us make designs against the good, waiting secretly for the upright, without cause; | Si dijeren: Ven con nosotros, Pongamos asechanzas á la sangre, Acechemos sin motivo al inocente; |
| Let us overcome them living, like the underworld, and in their strength, as those who go down to death; | Los tragaremos vivos como el sepulcro, Y enteros, como los que caen en sima; |
| Goods of great price will be ours, our houses will be full of wealth; | Hallaremos riquezas de todas suertes, Henchiremos nuestras casas de despojos; |
| Take your chance with us, and we will all have one money-bag: | Echa tu suerte entre nosotros; Tengamos todos una bolsa: |
| My son, do not go with them; keep your feet from their ways: | Hijo mío, no andes en camino con ellos; Aparta tu pie de sus veredas: |
| For their feet are running after evil, and they are quick to take a man's life. | Porque sus pies correrán al mal, E irán presurosos á derramar sangre. |
| Truly, to no purpose is the net stretched out before the eyes of the bird: | Porque en vano se tenderá la red Ante los ojos de toda ave; |
| And they are secretly waiting for their blood and making ready destruction for themselves. | Mas ellos á su propia sangre ponen asechanzas, Y á sus almas tienden lazo. |
| Such is the fate of everyone who goes in search of profit; it takes away the life of its owners. | Tales son las sendas de todo el que es dado á la codicia, La cual prenderá el alma de sus poseedores. |
| Wisdom is crying out in the street; her voice is loud in the open places; | La sabiduría clama de fuera, Da su voz en las plazas: |
| Her words are sounding in the meeting-places, and in the doorways of the town: | Clama en los principales lugares de concurso; En las entradas de las puertas de la ciudad dice sus razones: |
| How long, you simple ones, will foolish things be dear to you? and pride a delight to the haters of authority? how long will the foolish go on hating knowledge? | ¿Hasta cuándo, oh simples, amaréis la simpleza, Y los burladores desearán el burlar, Y los insensatos aborrecerán la ciencia? |
| Be turned again by my sharp words: see, I will send the flow of my spirit on you, and make my words clear to you. | Volveos á mi reprensión: He aquí yo os derramaré mi espíritu, Y os haré saber mis palabras. |
| Because your ears were shut to my voice; no one gave attention to my out-stretched hand; | Por cuanto llamé, y no quisisteis: Extendí mi mano, y no hubo quien escuchase; |
| You were not controlled by my guiding, and would have nothing to do with my sharp words: | Antes desechasteis todo consejo mío, Y mi reprensión no quisisteis: |
| So in the day of your trouble I will be laughing; I will make sport of your fear; | También yo me reiré en vuestra calamidad, Y me burlaré cuando os viniere lo que teméis; |
| When your fear comes on you like a storm, and your trouble like a rushing wind; when pain and sorrow come on you. | Cuando viniere como una destrucción lo que teméis, Y vuestra calamidad llegare como un torbellino; Cuando sobre vosotros viniere tribulación y angustia. |
| Then I will give no answer to their cries; searching for me early, they will not see me: | Entonces me llamarán, y no responderé; Buscarme han de mañana, y no me hallarán: |
| For they were haters of knowledge, and did not give their hearts to the fear of the Lord: | Por cuanto aborrecieron la sabiduría, Y no escogieron el temor de Jehová, |
| They had no desire for my teaching, and my words of protest were as nothing to them. | Ni quisieron mi consejo, Y menospreciaron toda reprensión mía: |
| So the fruit of their way will be their food, and with the designs of their hearts they will be made full. | Comerán pues del fruto de su camino, Y se hartarán de sus consejos. |
| For the turning back of the simple from teaching will be the cause of their death, and the peace of the foolish will be their destruction. | Porque el reposo de los ignorantes los matará, Y la prosperidad de los necios los echará á perder. |
| But whoever gives ear to me will take his rest safely, living in peace without fear of evil. | Mas el que me oyere, habitará confiadamente, Y vivirá reposado, sin temor de mal. |
