| Now after the death of Joshua, the children of Israel made request to the Lord, saying, Who is to go up first to make war for us against the Canaanites? | По смерти Иисуса вопрошали сыны Израилевы Господа, говоря: кто из нас прежде пойдет на Хананеев--воевать с ними? |
| And the Lord said, Judah is to go up: see, I have given the land into his hands. | И сказал Господь: Иуда пойдет; вот, Я предаю землю в руки его. |
| Then Judah said to Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my heritage, so that we may make war against the Canaanites; and I will then go with you into your heritage. So Simeon went with him. | Иуда же сказал Симеону, брату своему: войди со мною в жребий мой, и будем воевать с Хананеями; и я войду с тобою в твой жребий. И пошел с ним Симеон. |
| And Judah went up; and the Lord gave the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hands; and they overcame ten thousand of them in Bezek. | И пошел Иуда, и предал Господь Хананеев и Ферезеев в руки их, и побили они из них в Везеке десять тысяч человек. |
| And they came across Adoni-zedek, and made war on him; and they overcame the Canaanites and the Perizzites. | В Везеке встретились они с Адони-Везеком, сразились с ним и разбили Хананеев и Ферезеев. |
| But Adoni-zedek went in flight; and they went after him and overtook him, and had his thumbs and his great toes cut off. | Адони-Везек побежал, но они погнались за ним и поймали его и отсекли большие пальцы на руках его и на ногах его. |
| And Adoni-zedek said, Seventy kings, whose thumbs and great toes had been cut off, got broken meat under my table: as I have done, so has God done to me in full. And they took him to Jerusalem, and he came to his end there. | Тогда сказал Адони-Везек: семьдесят царей с отсеченными на руках и на ногах их большими пальцами собирали [крохи] под столом моим; как делал я, так и мне воздал Бог. И привели его в Иерусалим, и он умер там. |
| Then the children of Judah made an attack on Jerusalem, and took it, burning down the town after they had put its people to the sword without mercy. | И воевали сыны Иудины против Иерусалима и взяли его, и поразили его мечом и город предали огню. |
| After that the children of Judah went down to make war on the Canaanites living in the hill-country and in the south and in the lowlands. | Потом пошли сыны Иудины воевать с Хананеями, которые жили на горах и на полуденной земле и на низменных местах. |
| And Caleb went against the Canaanites of Hebron: (now in earlier times Hebron was named Kiriath-arba:) and he put Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai to the sword. | И пошел Иуда на Хананеев, которые жили в Хевроне (имя же Хеврону [было] прежде Кириаф-Арбы), и поразили Шешая, Ахимана и Фалмая. |
| And from there he went up against the people of Debir. (Now the name of Debir in earlier times was Kiriath-sepher.) | Оттуда пошел он против жителей Давира; имя Давиру [было] прежде Кириаф-Сефер. |
| And Caleb said, I will give Achsah, my daughter, as wife to the man who overcomes Kiriath-sepher and takes it. | И сказал Халев: кто поразит Кириаф-Сефер и возьмет его, тому отдам Ахсу, дочь мою, в жену. |
| And Othniel, the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, took it; so he gave him his daughter Achsah for his wife. | И взял его Гофониил, сын Кеназа, младшего брата Халевова, и [Халев] отдал в жену ему Ахсу, дочь свою. |
| Now when she came to him, he put into her mind the idea of requesting a field from her father: and she got down from her ass; and Caleb said to her, What is it? | Когда надлежало ей идти, [Гофониил] научил ее просить у отца ее поле, и она сошла с осла. Халев сказал ей: что тебе? |
| And she said to him, Give me a blessing; because you have put me in a dry south-land, now give me springs of water. So Caleb gave her the higher spring and the lower spring. | [Ахса] сказала ему: дай мне благословение; ты дал мне землю полуденную, дай мне и источники воды. И дал ей [Халев] источники верхние и источники нижние. |
| Now Hobab the Kenite, Moses' father-in-law, had come up out of the town of palm-trees, with the children of Judah, into the waste land of Arad; and he went and was living among the Amalekites; | И сыны [Иофора] Кенеянина, тестя Моисеева, пошли из города Пальм с сынами Иудиными в пустыню Иудину, которая на юг от Арада, и пришли и поселились среди народа. |
| And Judah went with Simeon, his brother, and overcame the Canaanites living in Zephath, and put it under the curse; and he gave the town the name of Hormah. | И пошел Иуда с Симеоном, братом своим, и поразили Хананеев, живших в Цефафе, и предали его заклятию, и [оттого] называется город сей Хорма. |
| Then Judah took Gaza and its limit, and Ashkelon and its limit, and Ekron and its limit. | Иуда взял также Газу с пределами ее, Аскалон с пределами его, и Екрон с пределами его. |
| And the Lord was with Judah; and he took the hill-country for his heritage; but he was unable to make the people of the valley go out, for they had war-carriages of iron. | Господь был с Иудою, и он овладел горою; но жителей долины не мог прогнать, потому что у них были железные колесницы. |
| And they gave Hebron to Caleb, as Moses had said; and he took the land of the three sons of Anak, driving them out from there. | И отдали Халеву Хеврон, как говорил Моисей, и изгнал [он] оттуда трех сынов Енаковых. |
| And the children of Judah did not make the Jebusites who were living in Jerusalem go out; the Jebusites are still living with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem. | Но Иевусеев, которые жили в Иерусалиме, не изгнали сыны Вениаминовы, и живут Иевусеи с сынами Вениамина в Иерусалиме до сего дня. |
| And the family of Joseph went up against Beth-el, and the Lord was with them. | И сыны Иосифа пошли также на Вефиль, и Господь был с ними. |
| So they sent men to make a search round Beth-el. (Now the name of the town in earlier times was Luz.) | И остановились и высматривали сыны Иосифовы Вефиль (имя же городу [было] прежде Луз). |
| And the watchers saw a man coming out of the town, and said to him, If you will make clear to us the way into the town, we will be kind to you. | И увидели стражи человека, идущего из города, и сказали ему: покажи нам вход в город, и сделаем с тобою милость. |
| So he made clear to them the way into the town, and they put it to the sword; but they let the man and all his family get away safe. | Он показал им вход в город, и поразили они город мечом, а человека сего и все родство его отпустили. |
| And he went into the land of the Hittites, building a town there and naming it Luz: which is its name to this day. | Человек сей пошел в землю Хеттеев, и построил город и нарек имя ему Луз. Это имя его до сего дня. |
| And Manasseh did not take away the land of the people of Beth-shean and its daughter-towns, or of Taanach and its daughter-towns, or of the people of Dor and its daughter-towns, or of the people of Ibleam and its daughter-towns, or of the people of Megiddo and its daughter-towns, driving them out; but the Canaanites would go on living in that land. | И Манассия не выгнал [жителей] Бефсана и зависящих от него городов, Фаанаха и зависящих от него городов, жителей Дора и зависящих от него городов, жителей Ивлеама и зависящих от него городов, жителей Мегиддона и зависящих от него городов; и остались Хананеи жить в земле сей. |
| And whenever Israel became strong, they put the Canaanites to forced work, without driving them out completely. | Когда Израиль пришел в силу, тогда сделал он Хананеев данниками, но изгнать не изгнал их. |
| And Ephraim did not make the Canaanites who were living in Gezer go out; but the Canaanites went on living in Gezer among them. | И Ефрем не изгнал Хананеев, живущих в Газере; и жили Хананеи среди их в Газере. |
| Zebulun did not make the people of Kitron or the people of Nahalol go out; but the Canaanites went on living among them and were put to forced work. | И Завулон не изгнал жителей Китрона и жителей Наглола, и жили Хананеи среди их и платили им дань. |
| And Asher did not take the land of the people of Acco, or Zidon, or Ahlab, or Achzib, or Helbah, or Aphik, or Rehob, driving them out; | И Асир не изгнал жителей Акко и жителей Сидона и Ахлава, Ахзива, Хелвы, Афека и Рехова. |
| But the Asherites went on living among the Canaanites, the people of the land, without driving them out. | И жил Асир среди Хананеев, жителей земли той, ибо не изгнал их. |
| Naphtali did not take the land of the people of Beth-shemesh or of Beth-anath, driving them out; but he was living among the Canaanites in the land; however, the people of Beth-shemesh and Beth-anath were put to forced work. | И Неффалим не изгнал жителей Вефсамиса и жителей Бефанафа и жил среди Хананеев, жителей земли той; жители же Вефсамиса и Бефанафа были его данниками. |
| And the children of Dan were forced into the hill-country by the Amorites, who would not let them come down into the valley; | И стеснили Аморреи сынов Дановых в горах, ибо не давали им сходить на долину. |
| For the Amorites would go on living in Mount Heres, in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim; but the children of Joseph became stronger than they, and put them to forced work. | И остались Аморреи жить на горе Херес, в Аиалоне и Шаалвиме; но рука сынов Иосифовых одолела [Аморреев], и сделались они данниками им. |
| And the limit of the Edomites went from the slope of Akrabbim from Sela and up. | Пределы Аморреев от возвышенности Акравим и от Селы простирались и далее. |
