Psalms 78:1 ^
Maschil. Of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my law; let your ears be bent down to the words of my mouth.
Salmi 78:1 ^
Cantico di Asaf. Ascolta, popolo mio, il mio insegnamento; porgete gli orecchi alle parole della mia bocca!
Psalms 78:2 ^
Opening my mouth I will give out a story, even the dark sayings of old times;
Salmi 78:2 ^
Io aprirò la mia bocca per proferir parabole, esporrò i misteri de’ tempi antichi.
Psalms 78:3 ^
Which have come to our hearing and our knowledge, as they were given to us by our fathers.
Salmi 78:3 ^
Quel che noi abbiamo udito e conosciuto, e che i nostri padri ci hanno raccontato,
Psalms 78:4 ^
We will not keep them secret from our children; we will make clear to the coming generation the praises of the Lord and his strength, and the great works of wonder which he has done.
Salmi 78:4 ^
non lo celeremo ai loro figliuoli; diremo alla generazione avvenire le lodi dell’Eterno, e la sua potenza e le maraviglie ch’egli ha operato.
Psalms 78:5 ^
He put up a witness in Jacob, and made a law in Israel; which he gave to our fathers so that they might give knowledge of them to their children;
Salmi 78:5 ^
Egli stabilì una testimonianza in Giacobbe, e pose una legge in Israele, ch’egli ordinò ai nostri padri di far conoscere ai loro figliuoli,
Psalms 78:6 ^
So that the generation to come might have knowledge of them, even the children of the future, who would give word of them to their children;
Salmi 78:6 ^
perché fossero note alla generazione avvenire, ai figliuoli che nascerebbero, i quali alla loro volta le narrerebbero ai loro figliuoli,
Psalms 78:7 ^
So that they might put their hope in God, and not let God's works go out of their minds, but keep his laws;
Salmi 78:7 ^
ond’essi ponessero in Dio la loro speranza e non dimenticassero le opere di Dio, ma osservassero i suoi comandamenti;
Psalms 78:8 ^
And not be like their fathers, a stiff-necked and uncontrolled generation; a generation whose heart was hard, whose spirit was not true to God.
Salmi 78:8 ^
e non fossero come i loro padri, una generazione caparbia e ribelle, una generazione dal cuore incostante, e il cui spirito non fu fedele a Dio.
Psalms 78:9 ^
The children of Ephraim, armed with bows, were turned back on the day of the fight.
Salmi 78:9 ^
I figliuoli di Efraim, gente di guerra, buoni arcieri, voltaron le spalle il dì della battaglia.
Psalms 78:10 ^
They were not ruled by God's word, and they would not go in the way of his law;
Salmi 78:10 ^
Non osservarono il patto di Dio, e ricusarono di camminar secondo la sua legge;
Psalms 78:11 ^
They let his works go out of their memory, and the wonders which he had made them see.
Salmi 78:11 ^
e dimenticarono le sue opere e i prodigi ch’egli avea loro fatto vedere.
Psalms 78:12 ^
He did great works before the eyes of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the fields of Zoan.
Salmi 78:12 ^
Egli avea compiuto maraviglie in presenza de’ loro padri, nel paese d’Egitto, nelle campagne di Zoan.
Psalms 78:13 ^
The sea was cut in two so that they might go through; the waters were massed together on this side and on that.
Salmi 78:13 ^
Fendé il mare e li fece passare, e fermò le acque come in un mucchio.
Psalms 78:14 ^
In the daytime he was guiding them in the cloud, and all through the night with a light of fire.
Salmi 78:14 ^
Di giorno li guidò con una nuvola, e tutta la notte con una luce di fuoco.
Psalms 78:15 ^
The rocks of the waste land were broken by his power, and he gave them drink as out of the deep waters.
Salmi 78:15 ^
Schiantò rupi nel deserto, e li abbeverò copiosamente, come da gorghi.
Psalms 78:16 ^
He made streams come out of the rock; and waters came flowing down like rivers.
Salmi 78:16 ^
Fece scaturire ruscelli dalla roccia e ne fece scender dell’acque a guisa di fiumi.
Psalms 78:17 ^
And they went on sinning against him even more, turning away from the Most High in the waste land;
Salmi 78:17 ^
Ma essi continuarono a peccare contro di lui, a ribellarsi contro l’Altissimo, nel deserto;
Psalms 78:18 ^
Testing God in their hearts, requesting meat for their desire.
Salmi 78:18 ^
e tentarono Dio in cuor loro, chiedendo cibo a lor voglia.
Psalms 78:19 ^
They said bitter words against God, saying, Is God able to make ready a table in the waste land?
Salmi 78:19 ^
E parlarono contro Dio, dicendo: Potrebbe Dio imbandirci una mensa nel deserto?
Psalms 78:20 ^
See, the rock was cut open by his power, so that the water came rushing out, and overflowing streams; is he able to give us bread? is he able to get meat for his people?
Salmi 78:20 ^
Ecco, egli percosse la roccia e ne colarono acque, ne traboccaron torrenti; potrebb’egli darci anche del pane, e provveder di carne il suo popolo?
Psalms 78:21 ^
So these things came to the Lord's ears, and he was angry; and a fire was lighted against Jacob, and wrath came up against Israel;
Salmi 78:21 ^
Perciò l’Eterno, avendoli uditi, s’adirò fieramente, e un fuoco s’accese contro Giacobbe, e l’ira sua si levò contro Israele,
Psalms 78:22 ^
Because they had no faith in God, and no hope in his salvation.
Salmi 78:22 ^
perché non aveano creduto in Dio, né avevano avuto fiducia nella sua salvazione;
Psalms 78:23 ^
And he gave orders to the clouds on high, and the doors of heaven were open;
Salmi 78:23 ^
eppure egli comandò alle nuvole di sopra, e aprì le porte del cielo,
Psalms 78:24 ^
And he sent down manna like rain for their food, and gave them the grain of heaven.
Salmi 78:24 ^
e fece piover su loro manna da mangiare, e dette loro del frumento del cielo.
Psalms 78:25 ^
Man took part in the food of strong ones; he sent them meat in full measure.
Salmi 78:25 ^
L’uomo mangiò del pane dei potenti; egli mandò loro del cibo a sazietà.
Psalms 78:26 ^
He sent an east wind from heaven, driving on the south wind by his power.
Salmi 78:26 ^
Fece levare in cielo il vento orientale, e con la sua potenza addusse il vento di mezzodì;
Psalms 78:27 ^
He sent down meat on them like dust, and feathered birds like the sand of the sea,
Salmi 78:27 ^
fece piover su loro della carne come polvere, degli uccelli alati, numerosi come la rena del mare;
Psalms 78:28 ^
And he let it come down into their resting-place, round about their tents.
Salmi 78:28 ^
e li fece cadere in mezzo al loro campo, d’intorno alle loro tende.
Psalms 78:29 ^
So they had food and were full; for he gave them their desire;
Salmi 78:29 ^
Così essi mangiarono e furon ben satollati, e Dio mandò loro quel che aveano bramato.
Psalms 78:30 ^
But they were not turned from their desires; and while the food was still in their mouths,
Salmi 78:30 ^
Non si erano ancora distolti dalle loro brame, avevano ancora il loro cibo in bocca,
Psalms 78:31 ^
The wrath of God came on them, and put to death the fattest of them, and put an end to the young men of Israel.
Salmi 78:31 ^
quando l’ira di Dio si levò contro loro, e ne uccise tra i più fiorenti, e abbatté i giovani d’Israele.
Psalms 78:32 ^
For all this they went on sinning even more, and had no faith in his great wonders.
Salmi 78:32 ^
Con tutto ciò peccarono ancora, e non credettero alle sue maraviglie.
Psalms 78:33 ^
So their days were wasted like a breath, and their years in trouble.
Salmi 78:33 ^
Ond’egli consumò i loro giorni in vanità, e i loro anni in ispaventi.
Psalms 78:34 ^
When he sent death on them, then they made search for him; turning to him and looking for him with care;
Salmi 78:34 ^
Quand’ei li uccideva, essi lo ricercavano e tornavano bramosi di ritrovare Iddio;
Psalms 78:35 ^
In the memory that God was their Rock, and the Most High God their saviour.
Salmi 78:35 ^
e si ricordavano che Dio era la loro ròcca, l’Iddio altissimo il loro redentore.
Psalms 78:36 ^
But their lips were false to him, and their tongues were untrue to him;
Salmi 78:36 ^
Essi però lo lusingavano con la loro bocca, e gli mentivano con la loro lingua.
Psalms 78:37 ^
And their hearts were not right with him, and they did not keep their agreement with him.
Salmi 78:37 ^
Il loro cuore non era diritto verso lui, e non eran fedeli al suo patto.
Psalms 78:38 ^
But he, being full of pity, has forgiveness for sin, and does not put an end to man: frequently turning back his wrath, and not being violently angry.
Salmi 78:38 ^
Ma egli, che è pietoso, che perdona l’iniquità e non distrugge il peccatore, più volte rattenne la sua ira, e non lasciò divampare tutto il suo cruccio.
Psalms 78:39 ^
So he kept in mind that they were only flesh; a breath which is quickly gone, and will not come again.
Salmi 78:39 ^
Ei si ricordò ch’essi erano carne, un fiato che passa e non ritorna.
Psalms 78:40 ^
How frequently did they go against him in the waste land, and give him cause for grief in the dry places!
Salmi 78:40 ^
Quante volte si ribellarono a lui nel deserto, e lo contristarono nella solitudine!
Psalms 78:41 ^
Again they put God to the test, and gave pain to the Holy One of Israel.
Salmi 78:41 ^
E tornarono a tentare Iddio e a provocare il Santo d’Israele.
Psalms 78:42 ^
They did not keep in mind the work of his hand, or the day when he took them from the power of their haters;
Salmi 78:42 ^
Non si ricordaron più della sua mano, del giorno in cui egli li liberò dal nemico,
Psalms 78:43 ^
How he had done his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan;
Salmi 78:43 ^
quando operò i suoi miracoli in Egitto, e i suoi prodigi nelle campagne di Zoan;
Psalms 78:44 ^
So that their rivers were turned to blood, and they were not able to get drink from their streams.
Salmi 78:44 ^
mutò i loro fiumi in sangue, e i loro rivi in guisa che non potean più bere;
Psalms 78:45 ^
He sent different sorts of flies among them, poisoning their flesh; and frogs for their destruction.
Salmi 78:45 ^
mandò contro loro mosche velenose che li divoravano, e rane che li distruggevano;
Psalms 78:46 ^
He gave the increase of their fields to worms, the fruits of their industry to the locusts.
Salmi 78:46 ^
dette il loro raccolto ai bruchi e la loro fatica alle locuste;
Psalms 78:47 ^
He sent ice for the destruction of their vines; their trees were damaged by the bitter cold.
Salmi 78:47 ^
distrusse le loro vigne con la gragnuola e i loro sicomori coi grossi chicchi d’essa;
Psalms 78:48 ^
Ice was rained down on their cattle; thunderstorms sent destruction among the flocks.
Salmi 78:48 ^
abbandonò il loro bestiame alla grandine e le lor gregge ai fulmini.
Psalms 78:49 ^
He sent on them the heat of his wrath, his bitter disgust, letting loose evil angels among them.
Salmi 78:49 ^
Scatenò su loro l’ardore del suo cruccio, ira, indignazione e distretta, una torma di messaggeri di malanni.
Psalms 78:50 ^
He let his wrath have its way; he did not keep back their soul from death, but gave their life to disease.
Salmi 78:50 ^
Dette libero corso alla sua ira; non preservò dalla morte la loro anima, ma abbandonò la loro vita alla pestilenza.
Psalms 78:51 ^
He gave to destruction all the first sons of Egypt; the first-fruits of their strength in the tents of Ham;
Salmi 78:51 ^
Percosse tutti i primogeniti d’Egitto, le primizie del vigore nelle tende di Cham;
Psalms 78:52 ^
But he took his people out like sheep, guiding them in the waste land like a flock.
Salmi 78:52 ^
ma fece partire il suo popolo a guisa di pecore, e lo condusse a traverso il deserto come una mandra.
Psalms 78:53 ^
He took them on safely so that they had no fear; but their haters were covered by the sea.
Salmi 78:53 ^
Lo guidò sicuramente sì che non ebbero da spaventarsi, mentre il mare inghiottiva i loro nemici.
Psalms 78:54 ^
And he was their guide to his holy land, even to the mountain, which his right hand had made his;
Salmi 78:54 ^
Li fece arrivare alla sua santa frontiera, alla montagna che la sua destra avea conquistato.
Psalms 78:55 ^
Driving out nations before them, marking out the line of their heritage, and giving the people of Israel their tents for a resting-place.
Salmi 78:55 ^
Scacciò le nazioni dinanzi a loro, ne assegnò loro a sorte il paese quale eredità, e nelle tende d’esse fece abitare le tribù d’Israele.
Psalms 78:56 ^
But they were bitter against the Most High God, testing him, and not keeping his laws;
Salmi 78:56 ^
E nondimeno tentarono l’Iddio altissimo e si ribellarono e non osservarono le sue testimonianze.
Psalms 78:57 ^
Their hearts were turned back and untrue like their fathers; they were turned to one side like a twisted bow.
Salmi 78:57 ^
Si trassero indietro e furono sleali come i loro padri; si rivoltarono come un arco fallace;
Psalms 78:58 ^
They made him angry with their high places; moving him to wrath with their images.
Salmi 78:58 ^
lo provocarono ad ira coi loro alti luoghi, lo mossero a gelosia con le loro sculture.
Psalms 78:59 ^
When this came to God's ears he was very angry, and gave up Israel completely;
Salmi 78:59 ^
Dio udì questo, e si adirò, prese Israele in grande avversione,
Psalms 78:60 ^
So that he went away from the holy place in Shiloh, the tent which he had put among men;
Salmi 78:60 ^
onde abbandonò il tabernacolo di Silo, la tenda ov’era dimorato fra gli uomini;
Psalms 78:61 ^
And he let his strength be taken prisoner, and gave his glory into the hands of his hater.
Salmi 78:61 ^
e lasciò menare la sua Forza in cattività, e lasciò cader la sua Gloria in man del nemico.
Psalms 78:62 ^
He gave his people up to the sword, and was angry with his heritage.
Salmi 78:62 ^
Abbandonò il suo popolo alla spada, e s’adirò contro la sua eredità.
Psalms 78:63 ^
Their young men were burned in the fire; and their virgins were not praised in the bride-song.
Salmi 78:63 ^
Il fuoco consumo i loro giovani, e le loro vergini non ebber canto nuziale.
Psalms 78:64 ^
Their priests were put to death by the sword, and their widows made no weeping for them.
Salmi 78:64 ^
I loro sacerdoti caddero per la spada, e le loro vedove non fecer lamento.
Psalms 78:65 ^
Then was the Lord like one awaking from sleep, and like a strong man crying out because of wine.
Salmi 78:65 ^
Poi il Signore si risvegliò come uno che dormisse, come un prode che grida eccitato dal vino.
Psalms 78:66 ^
His haters were turned back by his blows and shamed for ever.
Salmi 78:66 ^
E percosse i suoi nemici alle spalle, e mise loro addosso un eterno vituperio.
Psalms 78:67 ^
And he put the tent of Joseph on one side, and took not the tribe of Ephraim;
Salmi 78:67 ^
Ma ripudiò la tenda di Giuseppe, e non elesse la tribù di Efraim;
Psalms 78:68 ^
But he took the tribe of Judah for himself, and the mountain of Zion, in which he had pleasure.
Salmi 78:68 ^
ma elesse la tribù di Giuda, il monte di Sion ch’egli amava.
Psalms 78:69 ^
And he made his holy place like the high heaven, like the earth which is fixed by him for ever.
Salmi 78:69 ^
Edificò il suo santuario a guisa de’ luoghi eccelsi, come la terra ch’egli ha fondata per sempre.
Psalms 78:70 ^
He took David to be his servant, taking him from the place of the flocks;
Salmi 78:70 ^
Elesse Davide, suo servitore, lo prese dagli ovili;
Psalms 78:71 ^
From looking after the sheep which were giving milk, he took him to give food to Jacob his people, and to Israel his heritage.
Salmi 78:71 ^
lo trasse di dietro alle pecore lattanti, per pascere Giacobbe suo popolo, ed Israele sua eredità.
Psalms 78:72 ^
So he gave them food with an upright heart, guiding them by the wisdom of his hands.
Salmi 78:72 ^
Ed egli li pasturò secondo l’integrità del suo cuore, e li guidò con mano assennata.
