John 4:1 Now when it was clear to the Lord that word had come to the ears of the Pharisees that Jesus was making more disciples than John and was giving them baptism	Giovanni 4:1 Quando dunque il Signore ebbe saputo che i Farisei aveano udito ch’egli faceva e battezzava più discepoli di Giovanni
John 4:2 (Though, in fact, it was his disciples who gave baptism, not Jesus himself),	Giovanni 4:2 (quantunque non fosse Gesù che battezzava, ma i suoi discepoli),
John 4:3 He went out of Judaea into Galilee again.	Giovanni 4:3 lasciò la Giudea e se n’andò di nuovo in Galilea.
John 4:4 And it was necessary for him to go through Samaria.	Giovanni 4:4 Or doveva passare per la Samaria.
John 4:5 So he came to a town of Samaria which was named Sychar, near to the bit of land which Jacob gave to his son Joseph:	Giovanni 4:5 Giunse dunque a una città della Samaria, chiamata Sichar, vicina al podere che Giacobbe dette a Giuseppe, suo figliuolo;
John 4:6 Now Jacob's fountain was there. Jesus, being tired after his journey, was resting by the fountain. It was about the sixth hour.	Giovanni 4:6 e quivi era la fonte di Giacobbe. Gesù dunque, stanco del cammino, stava così a sedere presso la fonte. Era circa l’ora sesta.
John 4:7 A woman of Samaria came to get water, and Jesus said to her, Give me some water.	Giovanni 4:7 Una donna samaritana venne ad attinger l’acqua. Gesù le disse: Dammi da bere.
John 4:8 For his disciples had gone to the town to get food.	Giovanni 4:8 (Giacché i suoi discepoli erano andati in città a comprar da mangiare).
John 4:9 The woman of Samaria said to him, Why do you, a Jew, make a request for water to me, a woman of Samaria? She said this because Jews have nothing to do with the people of Samaria.	Giovanni 4:9 Onde la donna samaritana gli disse: Come mai tu che sei giudeo chiedi da bere a me che sono una donna samaritana? Infatti i Giudei non hanno relazioni co’ Samaritani.
John 4:10 In answer Jesus said, If you had knowledge of what God gives freely and who it is who says to you, Give me water, you would make your prayer to him, and he would give you living water.	Giovanni 4:10 Gesù rispose e le disse: Se tu conoscessi il dono di Dio e chi è che ti dice: Dammi da bere, tu stessa gliene avresti chiesto, ed egli t’avrebbe dato dell’acqua viva.
John 4:11 The woman said to him, Sir, you have no vessel and the fountain is deep; from where will you get the living water?	Giovanni 4:11 La donna gli disse: Signore, tu non hai nulla per attingere, e il pozzo è profondo; donde hai dunque cotest’acqua viva?
John 4:12 Are you greater than our father Jacob who gave us the fountain and took the water of it himself, with his children and his cattle?	Giovanni 4:12 Sei tu più grande di Giacobbe nostro padre che ci dette questo pozzo e ne bevve egli stesso co’ suoi figliuoli e il suo bestiame?
John 4:13 Jesus said to her, Everyone who takes this water will be in need of it again:	Giovanni 4:13 Gesù rispose e le disse: Chiunque beve di quest’acqua avrà sete di nuovo;
John 4:14 But whoever takes the water I give him will never be in need of drink again; for the water I give him will become in him a fountain of eternal life.	Giovanni 4:14 ma chi beve dell’acqua che io gli darò, non avrà mai più sete; anzi, l’acqua che io gli darò, diventerà in lui una fonte d’acqua che scaturisce in vita eterna.
John 4:15 The woman said to him, Sir, give me this water, so that I may not be in need again of drink and will not have to come all this way for it.	Giovanni 4:15 La donna gli disse: Signore, dammi di cotest’acqua, affinché io non abbia più sete, e non venga più sin qua ad attingere.
John 4:16 Jesus said to her, Go, get your husband and come back here with him.	Giovanni 4:16 Gesù le disse: Va’ a chiamar tuo marito e vieni qua.
John 4:17 In answer, the woman said, I have no husband. Jesus said to her, You have said rightly, I have no husband:	Giovanni 4:17 La donna gli rispose: Non ho marito. E Gesù: Hai detto bene: Non ho marito;
John 4:18 You have had five husbands, and the man you have now is not your husband: that was truly said.	Giovanni 4:18 perché hai avuto cinque mariti; e quello che hai ora, non è tuo marito; in questo hai detto il vero.
John 4:19 The woman said to him, Sir, I see that you are a prophet.	Giovanni 4:19 La donna gli disse: Signore, io vedo che tu sei un profeta.
John 4:20 Our fathers gave worship on this mountain, but you Jews say that the right place for worship is in Jerusalem.	Giovanni 4:20 I nostri padri hanno adorato su questo monte, e voi dite che a Gerusalemme è il luogo dove bisogna adorare.
John 4:21 Jesus said to her, Woman, take my word for this; the time is coming when you will not give worship to the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem.	Giovanni 4:21 Gesù le disse: Donna, credimi; l’ora viene che né su questo monte né a Gerusalemme adorerete il Padre.
John 4:22 You give worship, but without knowledge of what you are worshipping: we give worship to what we have knowledge of: for salvation comes from the Jews.	Giovanni 4:22 Voi adorate quel che non conoscete; noi adoriamo quel che conosciamo, perché la salvazione vien da’ Giudei.
John 4:23 But the time is coming, and is even now here, when the true worshippers will give worship to the Father in the true way of the spirit, for these are the worshippers desired by the Father.	Giovanni 4:23 Ma l’ora viene, anzi è già venuta, che i veri adoratori adoreranno il Padre in ispirito e verità; poiché tali sono gli adoratori che il Padre richiede.
John 4:24 God is Spirit: then let his worshippers give him worship in the true way of the spirit.	Giovanni 4:24 Iddio è spirito; e quelli che l’adorano, bisogna che l’adorino in ispirito e verità.
John 4:25 The woman said to him, I am certain that the Messiah, who is named Christ, is coming; when he comes he will make all things clear to us.	Giovanni 4:25 La donna gli disse: Io so che il Messia (ch’è chiamato Cristo) ha da venire; quando sarà venuto, ci annunzierà ogni cosa.
John 4:26 Jesus said to her, I, who am talking to you, am he.	Giovanni 4:26 Gesù le disse: Io che ti parlo, son desso.
John 4:27 At that point the disciples came back, and they were surprised to see him talking to a woman; but not one of them said to him, What is your purpose? or, Why are you talking to her?	Giovanni 4:27 In quel mentre giunsero i suoi discepoli, e si maravigliarono ch’egli parlasse con una donna; ma pur nessuno gli chiese: Che cerchi? o: Perché discorri con lei?
John 4:28 Then the woman put down her water-pot and went into the town, and said to the people,	Giovanni 4:28 La donna lasciò dunque la sua secchia, se ne andò in città e disse alla gente:
John 4:29 Come and see a man who has been talking to me of everything I ever did! Is it possible that this is the Christ?	Giovanni 4:29 Venite a vedere un uomo che m’ha detto tutto quello che ho fatto; non sarebb’egli il Cristo?
John 4:30 So they went out of the town and came to him.	Giovanni 4:30 La gente uscì dalla città e veniva a lui.
John 4:31 While this was taking place, the disciples were saying to Jesus, Master, take some food.	Giovanni 4:31 Intanto i discepoli lo pregavano, dicendo: Maestro, mangia.
John 4:32 But he said to them, I have food of which you have no knowledge.	Giovanni 4:32 Ma egli disse loro: Io ho un cibo da mangiare che voi non sapete.
John 4:33 So the disciples said one to another, Did anyone give him food?	Giovanni 4:33 Perciò i discepoli si dicevano l’uno all’altro: Forse qualcuno gli ha portato da mangiare?
John 4:34 Jesus said, My food is to do the pleasure of him who sent me and to make his work complete.	Giovanni 4:34 Gesù disse loro: Il mio cibo è di far la volontà di Colui che mi ha mandato, e di compiere l’opera sua.
John 4:35 You would say, Four months from now is the time of the grain-cutting. Take a look, I say to you, at the fields; they are even now white for cutting.	Giovanni 4:35 Non dite voi che ci sono ancora quattro mesi e poi vien la mietitura? Ecco, io vi dico: Levate gli occhi e mirate le campagne come già son bianche da mietere.
John 4:36 He who does the cutting now has his reward; he is getting together fruit for eternal life, so that he who did the planting and he who gets in the grain may have joy together.	Giovanni 4:36 Il mietitore riceve premio e raccoglie frutto per la vita eterna, affinché il seminatore ed il mietitore si rallegrino assieme.
John 4:37 In this the saying is a true one, One does the planting, and another gets in the grain.	Giovanni 4:37 Poiché in questo è vero il detto: L’uno semina e l’altro miete.
John 4:38 I sent you to get in grain which you had no hand in planting: other men did that work, and you take the reward.	Giovanni 4:38 Io v’ho mandati a mieter quello intorno a cui non avete faticato; altri hanno faticato, e voi siete entrati nella lor fatica.
John 4:39 Now a number of the people of that town had faith in him because of the woman's witness: He has been talking to me of everything I ever did.	Giovanni 4:39 Or molti de’ Samaritani di quella città credettero in lui a motivo della testimonianza resa da quella donna: Egli m’ha detto tutte le cose che ho fatte.
John 4:40 So when the people came to him they made request to him to be among them for a time, and he was there two days.	Giovanni 4:40 Quando dunque i Samaritani furono venuti a lui, lo pregarono di trattenersi da loro; ed egli si trattenne quivi due giorni.
John 4:41 And a great number more of them came to have faith in him because of what he himself said.	Giovanni 4:41 E più assai credettero a motivo della sua parola;
John 4:42 And they said to the woman, Now we have faith, but not because of your story: we ourselves have given ear to his words, and we are certain that he is truly the Saviour of the world.	Giovanni 4:42 e dicevano alla donna: Non è più a motivo di quel che tu ci hai detto, che crediamo; perché abbiamo udito da noi, e sappiamo che questi è veramente il Salvator del mondo.
John 4:43 And after the two days he went on from there into Galilee.	Giovanni 4:43 Passati que’ due giorni, egli partì di là per andare in Galilea;
John 4:44 For Jesus himself said that a prophet has no honour in the country of his birth.	Giovanni 4:44 poiché Gesù stesso aveva attestato che un profeta non è onorato nella sua propria patria.
John 4:45 So when he came into Galilee, the Galilaeans took him to their hearts because of the things which they had seen him do in Jerusalem at the feast--they themselves having been there at the feast.	Giovanni 4:45 Quando dunque fu venuto in Galilea, fu accolto dai Galilei, perché avean vedute tutte le cose ch’egli avea fatte in Gerusalemme alla festa; poiché anch’essi erano andati alla festa.
John 4:46 So he came to Cana in Galilee, where he had made the water wine. And there was a certain man of high position whose son was ill at Capernaum.	Giovanni 4:46 Gesù dunque venne di nuovo a Cana di Galilea, dove avea cambiato l’acqua in vino. E v’era un certo ufficial reale, il cui figliuolo era infermo a Capernaum.
John 4:47 When it came to his ears that Jesus had come from Judaea into Galilee, he went to him and made a request that he would come down to his son, who was near to death, and make him well.	Giovanni 4:47 Come egli ebbe udito che Gesù era venuto dalla Giudea in Galilea, andò a lui e lo pregò che scendesse e guarisse il suo figliuolo, perché stava per morire.
John 4:48 Then Jesus said to him, You will not have faith if you do not see signs and wonders.	Giovanni 4:48 Perciò Gesù gli disse: Se non vedete segni e miracoli, voi non crederete.
John 4:49 The man said, Sir, come down before my boy is dead.	Giovanni 4:49 L’ufficial reale gli disse: Signore, scendi prima che il mio bambino muoia.
John 4:50 And Jesus said, Go in peace; your son is living. The man had faith in the word which Jesus said to him and went away.	Giovanni 4:50 Gesù gli disse: Va’, il tuo figliuolo vive. Quell’uomo credette alla parola che Gesù gli avea detta, e se ne andò.
John 4:51 And while he was going down, his servants came to him and said, Your boy is living.	Giovanni 4:51 E come già stava scendendo, i suoi servitori gli vennero incontro e gli dissero: Il tuo figliuolo vive.
John 4:52 So he put a question to them as to the hour when he became better; and they said to him, The disease went from him yesterday at the seventh hour.	Giovanni 4:52 Allora egli domandò loro a che ora avesse cominciato a star meglio; ed essi gli risposero: Ieri, all’ora settima, la febbre lo lasciò.
John 4:53 It was clear then to the father that this was the very time at which Jesus said to him, Your son is living. And he had faith in Jesus, he and all his family.	Giovanni 4:53 Così il padre conobbe che ciò era avvenuto nell’ora che Gesù gli avea detto: Il tuo figliuolo vive; e credette lui con tutta la sua casa.
John 4:54 Now this is the second sign which Jesus did after he had come out of Judaea into Galilee.	Giovanni 4:54 Questo secondo miracolo fece di nuovo Gesù, tornando dalla Giudea in Galilea.
