Genesis 20:1 And Abraham went on his way from there to the land of the South, and was living between Kadesh and Shur, in Gerar.	Genesis 20:1 Abraham aber zog von dannen ins Land gegen Mittag und wohnte zwischen Kades und Sur und ward ein Fremdling zu Gerar.
Genesis 20:2 And Abraham said of Sarah, his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech, king of Gerar, sent and took Sarah.	Genesis 20:2 Er sprach aber von seinem Weibe Sara: Es ist meine Schwester. Da sandte Abimelech, der König zu Gerar, nach ihr und ließ sie holen.
Genesis 20:3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream in the night, and said to him, Truly you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken; for she is a man's wife.	Genesis 20:3 Aber Gott kam zu Abimelech des Nachts im Traum und sprach zu ihm: Siehe da, du bist des Todes um des Weibes willen, das du genommen hast; denn sie ist eines Mannes Eheweib.
Genesis 20:4 Now Abimelech had not come near her; and he said, Lord, will you put to death an upright nation?	Genesis 20:4 Abimelech aber hatte sie nicht berührt und sprach: HERR, willst du denn auch ein gerechtes Volk erwürgen?
Genesis 20:5 Did he not say to me himself, She is my sister? and she herself said, He is my brother: with an upright heart and clean hands have I done this.	Genesis 20:5 Hat er nicht zu mir gesagt: Sie sei seine Schwester? Und sie hat auch gesagt: Er ist mein Bruder. Habe ich doch das getan mit einfältigem Herzen und unschuldigen Händen.
Genesis 20:6 And God said to him in the dream, I see that you have done this with an upright heart, and I have kept you from sinning against me: for this reason I did not let you come near her.	Genesis 20:6 Und Gott sprach zu ihm im Traum: Ich weiß auch, daß du mit einfältigem Herzen das getan hast. Darum habe ich dich auch behütet, daß du nicht wider mich sündigtest, und habe es nicht zugegeben, daß du sie berührtest.
Genesis 20:7 So now, give the man back his wife, for he is a prophet, and let him say a prayer for you, so your life may be safe: but if you do not give her back, be certain that death will come to you and all your house.	Genesis 20:7 So gib nun dem Manne sein Weib wieder, denn er ist ein Prophet; und laß ihn für dich bitten, so wirst du lebendig bleiben. Wo du sie aber nicht wiedergibst, so wisse, daß du des Todes sterben mußt und alles, was dein ist.
Genesis 20:8 So Abimelech got up early in the morning and sent for all his servants and gave them word of these things, and they were full of fear.	Genesis 20:8 Da stand Abimelech des Morgens früh auf und rief alle seine Knechte und sagte ihnen dieses alles vor ihren Ohren. Und die Leute fürchteten sich sehr.
Genesis 20:9 Then Abimelech sent for Abraham, and said, What have you done to us? what wrong have I done you that you have put on me and on my kingdom so great a sin? You have done to me things which are not to be done.	Genesis 20:9 Und Abimelech rief Abraham auch und sprach zu ihm: Warum hast du uns das getan? Und was habe ich an dir gesündigt, daß du so eine große Sünde wolltest auf mich und mein Reich bringen? Du hast mit mir gehandelt, wie man nicht handeln soll.
Genesis 20:10 And Abimelech said to Abraham, Why did you do this thing?	Genesis 20:10 Und Abimelech sprach weiter zu Abraham: Was hast du gesehen, daß du solches getan hast?
Genesis 20:11 And Abraham said, Because it seemed to me that there was no fear of God in this place, and that they might put me to death because of my wife.	Genesis 20:11 Abraham sprach: Ich dachte, vielleicht ist keine Gottesfurcht an diesem Orte, und sie werden mich um meines Weibes willen erwürgen.
Genesis 20:12 And, in fact, she is my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife:	Genesis 20:12 Auch ist sie wahrhaftig meine Schwester; denn sie ist meines Vaters Tochter, aber nicht meiner Mutter Tochter, und ist mein geworden.
Genesis 20:13 And when God sent me wandering from my father's house, I said to her, Let this be the sign of your love for me; wherever we go, say of me, He is my brother.	Genesis 20:13 Da mich aber Gott aus meines Vaters Hause wandern hieß, sprach ich zu ihr: Die Barmherzigkeit tu an mir, daß, wo wir hinkommen, du sagst, ich sei dein Bruder.
Genesis 20:14 Then Abimelech gave to Abraham sheep and oxen and men-servants and women-servants, and gave him back his wife Sarah.	Genesis 20:14 Da nahm Abimelech Schafe und Rinder, Knechte und Mägde und gab sie Abraham und gab ihm wieder sein Weib Sara
Genesis 20:15 And Abimelech said, See, all my land is before you; take whatever place seems good to you.	Genesis 20:15 und sprach: Siehe da, mein Land steht dir offen; wohne, wo dir's wohl gefällt.
Genesis 20:16 And he said to Sarah, See, I have given to your brother a thousand bits of silver so that your wrong may be put right; now your honour is clear in the eyes of all.	Genesis 20:16 Und sprach zu Sara: Siehe da, ich habe deinem Bruder tausend Silberlinge gegeben; siehe, das soll dir eine Decke der Augen sein vor allen, die bei dir sind, und allenthalben. Und damit war ihr Recht verschafft.
Genesis 20:17 Then Abraham made prayer to God, and God made Abimelech well again, and his wife and his women-servants, so that they had children.	Genesis 20:17 Abraham aber betete zu Gott; da heilte Gott Abimelech und sein Weib und seine Mägde, daß sie Kinder gebaren.
Genesis 20:18 For the Lord had kept all the women of the house of Abimelech from having children, because of Sarah, Abraham's wife.	Genesis 20:18 Denn der HERR hatte zuvor hart verschlossen alle Mütter des Hauses Abimelechs um Saras, Abrahams Weibes, willen.
