Proverbs 25:1 These are more wise sayings of Solomon, copied out by the men of Hezekiah, king of Judah.	Proverbes 25:1 Voici encore des Proverbes de Salomon, recueillis par les gens d`Ézéchias, roi de Juda.
Proverbs 25:2 It is the glory of God to keep a thing secret: but the glory of kings is to have it searched out.	Proverbes 25:2 La gloire de Dieu, c`est de cacher les choses; La gloire des rois, c`est de sonder les choses.
Proverbs 25:3 The heaven is high and the earth is deep, and the hearts of kings may not be searched out.	Proverbes 25:3 Les cieux dans leur hauteur, la terre dans sa profondeur, Et le coeur des rois, sont impénétrables.
Proverbs 25:4 Take away the waste from silver, and a vessel will come out for the silver-worker.	Proverbes 25:4 Ote de l`argent les scories, Et il en sortira un vase pour le fondeur.
Proverbs 25:5 Take away evil-doers from before the king, and the seat of his power will be made strong in righteousness.	Proverbes 25:5 Ote le méchant de devant le roi, Et son trône s`affermira par la justice.
Proverbs 25:6 Do not take glory for yourself before the king, and do not put yourself in the place of the great:	Proverbes 25:6 Ne t`élève pas devant le roi, Et ne prends pas la place des grands;
Proverbs 25:7 For it is better to have it said to you, Come up here; than for you to be put down in a lower place before the ruler.	Proverbes 25:7 Car il vaut mieux qu`on te dise: Monte-ici! Que si l`on t`abaisse devant le prince que tes yeux voient.
Proverbs 25:8 Do not be quick to go to law about what you have seen, for what will you do in the end, when your neighbour has put you to shame?	Proverbes 25:8 Ne te hâte pas d`entrer en contestation, De peur qu`à la fin tu ne saches que faire, Lorsque ton prochain t`aura outragé.
Proverbs 25:9 Have a talk with your neighbour himself about your cause, but do not give away the secret of another:	Proverbes 25:9 Défends ta cause contre ton prochain, Mais ne révèle pas le secret d`un autre,
Proverbs 25:10 Or your hearer may say evil of you, and your shame will not be turned away.	Proverbes 25:10 De peur qu`en l`apprenant il ne te couvre de honte, Et que ta mauvaise renommée ne s`efface pas.
Proverbs 25:11 A word at the right time is like apples of gold in a network of silver.	Proverbes 25:11 Comme des pommes d`or sur des ciselures d`argent, Ainsi est une parole dite à propos.
Proverbs 25:12 Like a nose-ring of gold and an ornament of the best gold, is a wise man who says sharp words to an ear ready to give attention.	Proverbes 25:12 Comme un anneau d`or et une parure d`or fin, Ainsi pour une oreille docile est le sage qui réprimande.
Proverbs 25:13 As the cold of snow in the time of grain-cutting, so is a true servant to those who send him; for he gives new life to the soul of his master.	Proverbes 25:13 Comme la fraîcheur de la neige au temps de la moisson, Ainsi est un messager fidèle pour celui qui l`envoie; Il restaure l`âme de son maître.
Proverbs 25:14 As clouds and wind without rain, so is one who takes credit for an offering he has not given.	Proverbes 25:14 Comme des nuages et du vent sans pluie, Ainsi est un homme se glorifiant à tort de ses libéralités.
Proverbs 25:15 A judge is moved by one who for a long time undergoes wrongs without protest, and by a soft tongue even bone is broken.	Proverbes 25:15 Par la lenteur à la colère on fléchit un prince, Et une langue douce peut briser des os.
Proverbs 25:16 If you have honey, take only as much as is enough for you; for fear that, being full of it, you may not be able to keep it down.	Proverbes 25:16 Si tu trouves du miel, n`en mange que ce qui te suffit, De peur que tu n`en sois rassasié et que tu ne le vomisses.
Proverbs 25:17 Let not your foot be frequently in your neighbour's house, or he may get tired of you, and his feeling be turned to hate.	Proverbes 25:17 Mets rarement le pied dans la maison de ton prochain, De peur qu`il ne soit rassasié de toi et qu`il ne te haïsse.
Proverbs 25:18 One who gives false witness against his neighbour is a hammer and a sword and a sharp arrow.	Proverbes 25:18 Comme une massue, une épée et une flèche aiguë, Ainsi est un homme qui porte un faux témoignage contre son prochain.
Proverbs 25:19 Putting one's faith in a false man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth and a shaking foot.	Proverbes 25:19 Comme une dent cassée et un pied qui chancelle, Ainsi est la confiance en un perfide au jour de la détresse.
Proverbs 25:20 Like one who takes off clothing in cold weather and like acid on a wound, is he who makes melody to a sad heart.	Proverbes 25:20 Oter son vêtement dans un jour froid, Répandre du vinaigre sur du nitre, C`est dire des chansons à un coeur attristé.
Proverbs 25:21 If your hater is in need of food, give him bread; and if he is in need of drink, give him water:	Proverbes 25:21 Si ton ennemi a faim, donne-lui du pain à manger; S`il a soif, donne-lui de l`eau à boire.
Proverbs 25:22 For so you will put coals of fire on his head, and the Lord will give you your reward.	Proverbes 25:22 Car ce sont des charbons ardents que tu amasses sur sa tête, Et l`Éternel te récompensera.
Proverbs 25:23 As the north wind gives birth to rain, so is an angry face caused by a tongue saying evil secretly.	Proverbes 25:23 Le vent du nord enfante la pluie, Et la langue mystérieuse un visage irrité.
Proverbs 25:24 It is better to be living in an angle of the house-top, than with a bitter-tongued woman in a wide house.	Proverbes 25:24 Mieux vaut habiter à l`angle d`un toit, Que de partager la demeure d`une femme querelleuse.
Proverbs 25:25 As cold water to a tired soul, so is good news from a far country.	Proverbes 25:25 Comme de l`eau fraîche pour une personne fatiguée, Ainsi est une bonne nouvelle venant d`une terre lointaine.
Proverbs 25:26 Like a troubled fountain and a dirty spring, is an upright man who has to give way before evil-doers.	Proverbes 25:26 Comme une fontaine troublée et une source corrompue, Ainsi est le juste qui chancelle devant le méchant.
Proverbs 25:27 It is not good to take much honey: so he who is not looking for honour will be honoured.	Proverbes 25:27 Il n`est pas bon de manger beaucoup de miel, Mais rechercher la gloire des autres est un honneur.
Proverbs 25:28 He whose spirit is uncontrolled is like an unwalled town which has been broken into.	Proverbes 25:28 Comme une ville forcée et sans murailles, Ainsi est l`homme qui n`est pas maître de lui-même.
