| A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother. | Proverbes de Salomon. Un fils sage fait la joie d`un père, Et un fils insensé le chagrin de sa mère. |
| Wealth which comes from sin is of no profit, but righteousness gives salvation from death. | Les trésors de la méchanceté ne profitent pas, Mais la justice délivre de la mort. |
| The Lord will not let the upright be in need of food, but he puts far from him the desire of the evil-doers. | L`Éternel ne laisse pas le juste souffrir de la faim, Mais il repousse l`avidité des méchants. |
| He who is slow in his work becomes poor, but the hand of the ready worker gets in wealth. | Celui qui agit d`une main lâche s`appauvrit, Mais la main des diligents enrichit. |
| He who in summer gets together his store is a son who does wisely; but he who takes his rest when the grain is being cut is a son causing shame. | Celui qui amasse pendant l`été est un fils prudent, Celui qui dort pendant la moisson est un fils qui fait honte. |
| Blessings are on the head of the upright, but the face of sinners will be covered with sorrow. | Il y a des bénédictions sur la tête du juste, Mais la violence couvre la bouche des méchants. |
| The memory of the upright is a blessing, but the name of the evil-doer will be turned to dust. | La mémoire du juste est en bénédiction, Mais le nom des méchants tombe en pourriture. |
| The wise-hearted man will let himself be ruled, but the man whose talk is foolish will have a fall. | Celui qui est sage de coeur reçoit les préceptes, Mais celui qui est insensé des lèvres court à sa perte. |
| He whose ways are upright will go safely, but he whose ways are twisted will be made low. | Celui qui marche dans l`intégrité marche avec assurance, Mais celui qui prend des voies tortueuses sera découvert. |
| He who makes signs with his eyes is a cause of trouble, but he who makes a man see his errors is a cause of peace. | Celui qui cligne des yeux est une cause de chagrin, Et celui qui est insensé des lèvres court à sa perte. |
| The mouth of the upright man is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the evil-doer is a bitter cup. | La bouche du juste est une source de vie, Mais la violence couvre la bouche des méchants. |
| Hate is a cause of violent acts, but all errors are covered up by love. | La haine excite des querelles, Mais l`amour couvre toutes les fautes. |
| In the lips of him who has knowledge wisdom is seen; but a rod is ready for the back of him who is without sense. | Sur les lèvres de l`homme intelligent se trouve la sagesse, Mais la verge est pour le dos de celui qui est dépourvu de sens. |
| Knowledge is stored up by the wise, but the mouth of the foolish man is a destruction which is near. | Les sages tiennent la science en réserve, Mais la bouche de l`insensé est une ruine prochaine. |
| The property of the man of wealth is his strong town: the poor man's need is his destruction. | La fortune est pour le riche une ville forte; La ruine des misérables, c`est leur pauvreté. |
| The work of the upright gives life: the increase of the evil-doer is a cause of sin. | L`oeuvre du juste est pour la vie, Le gain du méchant est pour le péché. |
| He who takes note of teaching is a way of life, but he who gives up training is a cause of error. | Celui qui se souvient de la correction prend le chemin de la vie, Mais celui qui oublie la réprimande s`égare. |
| Hate is covered up by the lips of the upright man, but he who lets out evil about another is foolish. | Celui qui dissimule la haine a des lèvres menteuses, Et celui qui répand la calomnie est un insensé. |

| The tongue of the upright man is like tested silver: the heart of the evil-doer is of little value. | La langue du juste est un argent de choix; Le coeur des méchants est peu de chose. |
| The lips of the upright man give food to men, but the foolish come to death for need of sense. | Les lèvres du juste dirigent beaucoup d`hommes, Et les insensés meurent par défaut de raison. |
| The blessing of the Lord gives wealth: hard work makes it no greater. | C`est la bénédiction de l`Éternel qui enrichit, Et il ne la fait suivre d`aucun chagrin. |
| It is sport to the foolish man to do evil, but the man of good sense takes delight in wisdom. | Commettre le crime paraît un jeu à l`insensé, Mais la sagesse appartient à l`homme intelligent. |
| The thing feared by the evil-doer will come to him, but the upright man will get his desire. | Ce que redoute le méchant, c`est ce qui lui arrive; Et ce que désirent les justes leur est accordé. |
| When the storm-wind is past, the sinner is seen no longer, but the upright man is safe for ever. | Comme passe le tourbillon, ainsi disparaît le méchant; Mais le juste a des fondements éternels. |
| Like acid drink to the teeth and as smoke to the eyes, so is the hater of work to those who send him. | Ce que le vinaigre est aux dents et la fumée aux yeux, Tel est le paresseux pour celui qui l`envoie. |
| The fear of the Lord gives long life, but the years of the evil-doer will be cut short. | La crainte de l`Éternel augmente les jours, Mais les années des méchants sont abrégées. |
| The hope of the upright man will give joy, but the waiting of the evil-doer will have its end in sorrow. | L`attente des justes n`est que joie, Mais l`espérance des méchants périra. |
| The way of the Lord is a strong tower for the upright man, but destruction to the workers of evil. | La voie de l`Éternel est un rempart pour l`intégrité, Mais elle est une ruine pour ceux qui font le mal. |
| The upright man will never be moved, but evil-doers will not have a safe resting-place in the land. | Le juste ne chancellera jamais, Mais les méchants n`habiteront pas le pays. |
| The mouth of the upright man is budding with wisdom, but the twisted tongue will be cut off. | La bouche du juste produit la sagesse, Mais la langue perverse sera retranchée. |
| The lips of the upright man have knowledge of what is pleasing, but twisted are the mouths of evil-doers. | Les lèvres du juste connaissent la grâce, Et la bouche des méchants la perversité. |
