|
| And the Lord said to me, Take a great writing-board, and on it put down in common letters, Maher-shalal-hash-baz; | L`Éternel me dit: Prends une grande table, et écris dessus, d`une manière intelligible: Qu`on se hâte de piller, qu`on se précipite sur le butin. |
| And take true witnesses to the writing, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah, the son of Jeberechiah. | Je pris avec moi des témoins dignes de foi, le sacrificateur Urie, et Zacharie, fils de Bérékia. |
| And I went in to my wife, and she became with child, and gave birth to a son. Then the Lord said to me, Give him the name Maher-shalal-hash-baz, | Je m`étais approché de la prophétesse; elle conçut, et elle enfanta un fils. L`Éternel me dit: Donne-lui pour nom Maher Schalal Chasch Baz. |
| For before the child is able to say, Father, or, Mother, the wealth of Damascus and the goods of Samaria will be taken away by the king of Assyria. | Car, avant que l`enfant sache dire: Mon père! ma mère! on emportera devant le roi d`Assyrie les richesses de Damas et le butin de Samarie. |
| And the Lord said again to me, | L`Éternel me parla encore, et me dit: |
| Because this people will have nothing to do with the softly-flowing waters of Shiloah, and have fear of Rezin and Remaliah's son; | Parce que ce peuple a méprisé les eaux de Siloé qui coulent doucement Et qu`il s`est réjoui au sujet de Retsin et du fils de Remalia, Voici, le Seigneur va faire monter |
| For this cause the Lord is sending on them the waters of the River, deep and strong, even the king of Assyria and all his glory: and it will come up through all its streams, overflowing all its edges: | contre eux Les puissantes et grandes eaux du fleuve (Le roi d`Assyrie et toute sa gloire); Il s`élèvera partout au-dessus de son lit, Et il se répandra sur toutes ses rives; |
| And it will come on into Judah; rushing on and overflowing, till the waters are up to the neck; *** and his outstretched wings will be covering the land from side to side: for God is with us. | Il pénétrera dans Juda, il débordera et inondera, Il atteindra jusqu`au cou. Le déploiement de ses ailes Remplira l`étendue de ton pays, ô Emmanuel! |
| Have knowledge, O peoples, and be in fear; give ear, all you far-off parts of the earth: | Poussez des cris de guerre, peuples! et vous serez brisés; Prêtez l`oreille, vous tous qui habitez au loin! Préparez-vous au combat, et vous serez brisés; Préparez-vous au combat, et vous serez brisés. |
| Let your designs be formed, and they will come to nothing; give your orders, and they will not be effected: for God is with us. | Formez des projets, et ils seront anéantis; Donnez des ordres, et ils seront sans effet: Car Dieu est avec nous. |
| For the Lord, controlling me with a strong hand, gave me orders not to go in the way of this people, saying, | Ainsi m`a parlé l`Éternel, quand sa main me saisit, Et qu`il m`avertit de ne pas marcher dans la voie de ce peuple: |
| Do not say, It is holy, about everything of which this people says, It is holy; and do not be in fear of what they go in fear of. | N`appelez pas conjuration tout ce que ce peuple appelle conjuration; Ne craignez pas ce qu`il craint, et ne soyez pas effrayés. |
| But let the Lord of armies be holy to you, and go in fear of him, giving honour to him. | C`est l`Éternel des armées que vous devez sanctifier, C`est lui que vous devez craindre et redouter. |
| And he will be for a holy place: but for a stone of falling and a rock of trouble to the two houses of Israel, and to the men of Jerusalem, for a net in which they may be taken. | Et il sera un sanctuaire, Mais aussi une pierre d`achoppement, Un rocher de scandale pour les deux maisons d`Israël, Un filet et un piège Pour les habitants de Jérusalem. |
| And numbers of them, falling on the stone, will be broken, and will be taken in the net. | Plusieurs trébucheront; Ils tomberont et se briseront, Ils seront enlacés et pris. |
| Let my teaching be kept secret: and my words be given to my disciples only. | Enveloppe cet oracle, Scelle cette révélation, parmi mes disciples. - |
| And I will be waiting for the Lord, whose face is veiled from the house of Jacob, and I will be looking for him. | J`espère en l`Éternel, Qui cache sa face à la maison de Jacob; Je place en lui ma confiance. |
| See, I and the children whom the Lord has given me, are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the Lord of armies, whose resting-place is in Mount Zion. | Voici, moi et les enfants que l`Éternel m`a donnés, Nous sommes des signes et des présages en Israël, De la part de l`Éternel des armées, Qui habite sur la montagne de Sion. |
| And when they say to you, Make request for us to those who have control of spirits, and to those wise in secret arts, who make hollow bird-like sounds; is it not right for a people to make request to their gods, to make request for the living to the dead? | Si l`on vous dit: Consultez ceux qui évoquent les morts et ceux qui prédisent l`avenir, Qui poussent des sifflements et des soupirs, Répondez: Un peuple ne consultera-t-il pas son Dieu? S`adressera-t-il aux morts en faveur des vivants? |
| Then say to them, Put your faith in the teaching and the witness. ... If they do not say such things. ... For him there is no dawn. ... | A la loi et au témoignage! Si l`on ne parle pas ainsi, Il n`y aura point d`aurore pour le peuple. |
| And he will go through the land in bitter trouble and in need of food; and when he is unable to get food, he will become angry, cursing his king and his God, and his eyes will be turned to heaven on high; | Il sera errant dans le pays, accablé et affamé; Et, quand il aura faim, il s`irritera, Maudira son roi et son Dieu, Et tournera les yeux en haut; |
| And he will be looking down on the earth, and there will be trouble and dark clouds, black night where there is no seeing. | Puis il regardera vers la terre, Et voici, il n`y aura que détresse, obscurité et de sombres angoisses: Il sera repoussé dans d`épaisses ténèbres. |
