Genesis 3:1 ^
Now the snake was wiser than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, Has God truly said that you may not take of the fruit of any tree in the garden?
Genèse 3:1 ^
Le serpent était le plus rusé de tous les animaux des champs, que l`Éternel Dieu avait faits. Il dit à la femme: Dieu a-t-il réellement dit: Vous ne mangerez pas de tous les arbres du jardin?
Genesis 3:2 ^
And the woman said, We may take of the fruit of the trees in the garden:
Genèse 3:2 ^
La femme répondit au serpent: Nous mangeons du fruit des arbres du jardin.
Genesis 3:3 ^
But of the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God has said, If you take of it or put your hands on it, death will come to you.
Genèse 3:3 ^
Mais quant au fruit de l`arbre qui est au milieu du jardin, Dieu a dit: Vous n`en mangerez point et vous n`y toucherez point, de peur que vous ne mouriez.
Genesis 3:4 ^
And the snake said, Death will not certainly come to you:
Genèse 3:4 ^
Alors le serpent dit à la femme: Vous ne mourrez point;
Genesis 3:5 ^
For God sees that on the day when you take of its fruit, your eyes will be open, and you will be as gods, having knowledge of good and evil.
Genèse 3:5 ^
mais Dieu sait que, le jour où vous en mangerez, vos yeux s`ouvriront, et que vous serez comme des dieux, connaissant le bien et le mal.
Genesis 3:6 ^
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and a delight to the eyes, and to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit, and gave it to her husband.
Genèse 3:6 ^
La femme vit que l`arbre était bon à manger et agréable à la vue, et qu`il était précieux pour ouvrir l`intelligence; elle prit de son fruit, et en mangea; elle en donna aussi à son mari, qui était auprès d`elle, et il en mangea.
Genesis 3:7 ^
And their eyes were open and they were conscious that they had no clothing and they made themselves coats of leaves stitched together.
Genèse 3:7 ^
Les yeux de l`un et de l`autre s`ouvrirent, ils connurent qu`ils étaient nus, et ayant cousu des feuilles de figuier, ils s`en firent des ceintures.
Genesis 3:8 ^
And there came to them the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the evening wind: and the man and his wife went to a secret place among the trees of the garden, away from the eyes of the Lord God.
Genèse 3:8 ^
Alors ils entendirent la voix de l`Éternel Dieu, qui parcourait le jardin vers le soir, et l`homme et sa femme se cachèrent loin de la face de l`Éternel Dieu, au milieu des arbres du jardin.

And the voice of the Lord God came to the man, saying, Where are you?
Genèse 3:9 ^
Mais l`Éternel Dieu appela l`homme, et lui dit: Où es-tu?
Genesis 3:10 ^
And he said, Hearing your voice in the garden I was full of fear, because I was without clothing: and I kept myself from your eyes.
Genèse 3:10 ^
Il répondit: J`ai entendu ta voix dans le jardin, et j`ai eu peur, parce que je suis nu, et je me suis caché.
Genesis 3:11 ^
And he said, Who gave you the knowledge that you were without clothing? Have you taken of the fruit of the tree which I said you were not to take?
Genèse 3:11 ^
Et l`Éternel Dieu dit: Qui t`a appris que tu es nu? Est-ce que tu as mangé de l`arbre dont je t`avais défendu de manger?
Genesis 3:12 ^
And the man said, The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me the fruit of the tree and I took it.
Genèse 3:12 ^
L`homme répondit: La femme que tu as mise auprès de moi m`a donné de l`arbre, et j`en ai mangé.
Genesis 3:13 ^
And the Lord God said to the woman, What have you done? And the woman said, I was tricked by the deceit of the snake and I took it.
Genèse 3:13 ^
Et l`Éternel Dieu dit à la femme: Pourquoi as-tu fait cela? La femme répondit: Le serpent m`a séduite, et j`en ai mangé.
Genesis 3:14 ^
And the Lord God said to the snake, Because you have done this you are cursed more than all cattle and every beast of the field; you will go flat on the earth, and dust will be your food all the days of your life:
Genèse 3:14 ^
L`Éternel Dieu dit au serpent: Puisque tu as fait cela, tu seras maudit entre tout le bétail et entre tous les animaux des champs, tu marcheras sur ton ventre, et tu mangeras de la poussière tous les jours de ta vie.
Genesis 3:15 ^
And there will be war between you and the woman and between your seed and her seed: by him will your head be crushed and by you his foot will be wounded.
Genèse 3:15 ^
Je mettrai inimitié entre toi et la femme, entre ta postérité et sa postérité: celle-ci t`écrasera la tête, et tu lui blesseras le talon.
Genesis 3:16 ^
To the woman he said, Great will be your pain in childbirth; in sorrow will your children come to birth; still your desire will be for your husband, but he will be your master.
Genèse 3:16 ^
Il dit à la femme: J`augmenterai la souffrance de tes grossesses, tu enfanteras avec douleur, et tes désirs se porteront vers ton mari, mais il dominera sur toi.
Genesis 3:17 ^
And to Adam he said, Because you gave ear to the voice of your wife and took of the fruit of the tree which I said you were not to take, the earth is cursed on your account; in pain you will get your food from it all your life.
Genèse 3:17 ^
Il dit à l`homme: Puisque tu as écouté la voix de ta femme, et que tu as mangé de l`arbre au sujet duquel je t`avais donné cet ordre: Tu n`en mangeras point! le sol sera maudit à cause de toi. C`est à force de peine que tu en tireras ta nourriture tous les jours de ta vie,
Genesis 3:18 ^
Thorns and waste plants will come up, and the plants of the field will be your food;
Genèse 3:18 ^
il te produira des épines et des ronces, et tu mangeras de l`herbe des champs.
Genesis 3:19 ^
With the hard work of your hands you will get your bread till you go back to the earth from which you were taken: for dust you are and to the dust you will go back.
Genèse 3:19 ^
C`est à la sueur de ton visage que tu mangeras du pain, jusqu`à ce que tu retournes dans la terre, d`où tu as été pris; car tu es poussière, et tu retourneras dans la poussière.
Genesis 3:20 ^
And the man gave his wife the name of Eve because she was the mother of all who have life.
Genèse 3:20 ^
Adam donna à sa femme le nom d`Eve: car elle a été la mère de tous les vivants.
Genesis 3:21 ^
And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife coats of skins for their clothing.
Genèse 3:21 ^
L`Éternel Dieu fit à Adam et à sa femme des habits de peau, et il les en revêtit.
Genesis 3:22 ^
And the Lord God said, Now the man has become like one of us, having knowledge of good and evil; and now if he puts out his hand and takes of the fruit of the tree of life, he will go on living for ever.
Genèse 3:22 ^
L`Éternel Dieu dit: Voici, l`homme est devenu comme l`un de nous, pour la connaissance du bien et du mal. Empêchons-le maintenant d`avancer sa main, de prendre de l`arbre de vie, d`en manger, et de vivre éternellement.
Genesis 3:23 ^
So the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to be a worker on the earth from which he was taken.
Genèse 3:23 ^
Et l`Éternel Dieu le chassa du jardin d`Éden, pour qu`il cultivât la terre, d`où il avait été pris.
Genesis 3:24 ^
So he sent the man out; and at the east of the garden of Eden he put winged ones and a flaming sword turning every way to keep the way to the tree of life.
Genèse 3:24 ^
C`est ainsi qu`il chassa Adam; et il mit à l`orient du jardin d`Éden les chérubins qui agitent une épée flamboyante, pour garder le chemin de l`arbre de vie.
