| Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had made to come back from the dead. | Unom ka adlaw sa wala pa ang Pasko, si Jesus miabut sa Betania, diin didto si Lazaro, ang gibanhaw ni Jesus gikan sa mga patay. |
| So they made him a meal there, and he was waited on by Martha, and Lazarus was among those who were seated with him at table. | Ug didto gidalitan siya nilag panihapon. Si Marta mao ang nagsilbi, apan si Lazaro usa sa mga mitambong sa kan-anan uban kaniya. |
| Then Mary, taking a pound of perfumed oil of great value, put it on the feet of Jesus and made them dry with her hair: and the house became full of the smell of the perfume. | Ug si Maria mikuhag tunga sa kilo nga bilihong pahumot nga lunsayng nardo, ug iyang gihaplasan niini si Jesus diha sa mga tiil, ug iyang gipahiran kini sa iyang mga buhok; ug ang balay nalukop sa kaamyon sa pahumot. |
| But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot (who was to give him up), said, | Apan si Judas Iscariote nga usa sa iyang mga tinun-an (nga mao gani ang magbudhi kaniya), miingon, |
| Why was not this perfume traded for three hundred pence, and the money given to the poor? | "Ngano nga kining pahumot wala man hinoon ibaligyag tulo ka gatus ka denario, ug ang halin ihatag sa mga kabus?" |
| (He said this, not because he had any love for the poor; but because he was a thief, and, having the money-bag, took for himself what was put into it.) | Kini gisulti niya, dili tungod kay siya may kahangawa alang sa mga kabus, kondili tungod kay siya kawatan man; ug kay siya mao man ang magtitipig sa panudlanan sa kuwarta, ang igasulod niini iyang pagakapnan. |
| Then Jesus said, Let her be. Let her keep what she has for the day of my death. | Ug si Jesus miingon, "Pasagdi ninyo siya, pabuhata siya niini alang sa adlaw sa paglubong kanako. |
| The poor you have ever with you, but me you have not for ever. | Kay ang mga kabus kanunayng anaa kaninyo, apan ako dili kanunayng ania kaninyo." |
| Then a great number of the Jews had news that he was there: and they came, not only because of Jesus, but so that they might see Lazarus who had been dead and to whom he had given life. | Ug sa pagkasayud sa dakung panon sa mga Judio nga didto diay si Jesus, sila nangadto dili lamang tungod kaniya kondili usab aron sa pagtan-aw kang Lazaro, ang iyang gibanhaw gikan sa mga patay. |
| Now there was talk among the chief priests of putting Lazarus to death; | Tungod niini gipanagsabutan sa mga sacerdote nga punoan ang pagpatay usab kang Lazaro, |
| For because of him a great number of the Jews went away and had belief in Jesus. | kay tungod kaniya daghan sa mga Judio mipahilayo kanila ug misalig kang Jesus. |
| The day after, a great number of people who were there for the feast, when they had the news that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, | Ug sa pagkasunod nga adlaw, ang dakung panon sa katawhan nga nangabut sa pagpamiesta, sa pagkadungog nila nga si Jesus moabut sa Jerusalem, |
| Took branches of palm-trees and went out to him, crying, A blessing on him who comes in the name of the Lord, the King of Israel! | nanguhag mga palwa sa palmera ug nangadto sila ug gisugat siya nila nga nanagsinggit, "Hosanna!" Dalaygon ang nagaanhi sa ngalan sa Ginoo Dalaygon ang Hari sa Israel!" |
| And Jesus saw a young ass and took his seat on it; as the Writings say, | Ug si Jesus nakakaplag ug usa ka nating asno, ug siya mikabayo niini, sumala sa nahisulat, |
| Have no fear, daughter of Zion: see your King is coming, seated on a young ass. | "Ayaw kahadlok, babayeng anak nga Sion; tan-awa, nagaanhi ang imong hari, nga nagakabayo sa nati sa asna!" |
| (These things were not clear to his disciples at first: but when Jesus had been lifted up into his glory, then it came to their minds that these things in the Writings were about him and that they had been done to him.) | Sa sinugdan ang iyang mga tinun-an wala makasabut niini; apan sa diha nga gihimaya na si Jesus, nan, nahinumdom na sila nga kini nahisulat man tuod mahitungod kaniya ug nga nahitabo, kini ngadto kaniya. |
| Now the people who were with him when his voice came to Lazarus in the place of the dead, and gave him life again, had been talking about it. | Ug nanaghimog panghimatuod ang panon sa katawhan, sila nga didto uban kaniya sa iyang pagtawag kang Lazaro sa paggula gikan sa lubong ug sa pagbanhaw kaniya gikan sa mga patay. |
| And that was the reason the people went out to him, because it had come to their ears that he had done this sign. | Mao man gani nga ang panon sa katawhan miadto sa pagsugat kaniya kay nakadungog man sila nga nakahimo siya sa maong milagro, |
| Then the Pharisees said one to another, You see, you are unable to do anything: the world has gone after him. | Tungod niini ang mga Fariseo nasig-ingon ang usa sa usa, "Nakita ninyo nga wala na gayud kamoy arang mahimo! Tan-awa, ang tibuok kalibutan nagasunod na kaniya!" |
| Now there were some Greeks among the people who had come up to give worship at the feast: | Ug dihay pipila ka mga Gresyanhon sa mga nanungas aron sa pagsimba didto sa fiesta. |
| They came to Philip, who was of Beth-saida in Galilee, and made a request, saying, Sir, we have a desire to see Jesus. | Kini sila miduol kang Felipe, nga taga-Betsaida sa Galilea, ug siya ilang gihangyo nga nanag-ingon, "Senyor, makigkita unta kami kang Jesus." |
| Philip went and gave word of it to Andrew; and Andrew went with Philip to Jesus. | Si Felipe miadto ug iyang gisuginlan si Andres, ug si Andres miadto uban kang Felipe ug ilang gisuginlan si Jesus. |
| And Jesus said to them in answer, The hour of the glory of the Son of man has come. | Ug si Jesus mitubag kanila, "Ang takna nahiabut na nga pagahimayaon na ang Anak sa Tawo. |
| Truly I say to you, If a seed of grain does not go into the earth and come to an end, it is still a seed and no more; but through its death it gives much fruit. | Sa pagkatinuod, sa pagkatinuod, magaingon ako kaninyo, nga ang usa ka lugas trigo kinahanglan mahulog sa yuta ug mamatay, kay kon dili man, nan, magapabilin kini nga mag-inusara. Apan kon kini mamatay, nan, mamunga kinig daghan. |
| He who is in love with life will have it taken from him; and he who has no care for his life in this world will keep it for ever and ever. | Ang mahigugma sa iyang kinabuhi mawad-an hinoon niini; apan ang magadumot sa iyang kinabuhi niining kalibutana, magapatunhay niini alang sa kinabuhing dayon, |
| If any man is my servant, let him come after me; and where I am, there will my servant be. If any man becomes my servant, my Father will give him honour. | Kon kinsa ang moalagad kanako, kinahanglan magasunod siya kanako; ug diin gani ako, ang akong alagad atua usab didto. Kon kinsa ang moalagad kanako, ang Amahan magapasidungog kaniya. |
| Now is my soul troubled; and what am I to say? Father, keep me from this hour. No: for this purpose have I come to this hour. | "Ug karon naguol ang akong kalag. Ug unsa may akong igaingon? Moingon ba ako, `Amahan, luwasa ako gikan niining taknaa"? Dili, kay alang niining maong tuyo nahiabot ako niining taknaa. |
| Father, give glory to your name. Then there came a voice out of heaven, saying, I have given it glory, and I will give it glory again. | Amahan, pasidunggi ang imong kaugalingong ngalan." Unya miabut gikan sa langit ang usa ka tingog nga nag-ingon, "Gipasidunggan ko na kini, ug pagapasidunggan ko kini pag-usab." |
| Hearing the sound, a number of people who were there said that it was thunder: others said, An angel was talking to him. | Ang mga tawo nga nanag-alirong nakadungog sa tingog, ug sila miingon nga kadto dalogdog. Ang uban nanag-ingon, "Dihay manolunda nga misulti kaniya." |
| Jesus said in answer, This voice came not for me but for you. | Ug si Jesus mitubag nga nag-ingon, "Kining tingoga miabut tungod kaninyo, dili tungod kanako. |
| Now is this world to be judged: now will the ruler of this world be sent out. | Ug karon mao na ang paghukom niining kalibutana, karon palagputon na ang punoan niining kalibutana. |
| And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will make all men come to me. | Ug ako, sa ikaisa na ako gikan sa yuta, magakabig sa tanang tawo nganhi kanako." |
| (This he said, pointing to the sort of death he would have.) | Kini gisulti niya aron sa pagpasabut sa paagi sa kamatayon nga iyang pagakamatyan. |
| Then the people in answer said to him, The law says that the Christ will have life without end: how say you then that it is necessary for the Son of man to be lifted up? Who is this Son of man? | Ug ang panon sa katawhan mitubag kaniya, "Nakadungog kami gikan sa kasugoan nga ang Cristo molungtad hangtud sa kahangturan. Busa unsaon mo man sa pagpakaingon nga kinahanglan igaisa ang Anak sa Tawo? Kinsa man kining Anak sa Tawo?" |
| Jesus said to them, For a little time longer the light will be among you; while you have the light go on walking in it, so that the dark may not overtake you: one walking in the dark has no knowledge of where he is going. | Si Jesus miingon kanila, "Ang kahayag anaa uban pa kaninyo sa hamubo nga panahon. Panglakaw kamo samtang anaa pa kaninyo ang kahayag, kay tingali unyag hiapsan kamo sa kangitngit. Siya nga magalakaw sa kangitngit dili mahibalo kon asa siya padulong. |
| In so far as you have the light, put your faith in the light so that you may become sons of light. With these words Jesus went away and for a time was not seen again by them. | Samtang anaa pa kaninyo ang kahayag, sumalig kamo sa kahayag, aron mahimo kamong mga tawo nga may kahayag." |
| But though he had done such a number of signs before them, they still had no belief in him: | Bisan tuod daghan ang mga milagro nga iyang nahimo sa ilang atubangan, ngani wala sila mosalig kaniya; |
| So that the words of the prophet Isaiah might come true, when he said, Lord, who has any belief in our preaching? and the arm of the Lord, to whom has it been unveiled? | aron matuman ang pulong nga gisulti ni Isaias nga profeta, nga nag-ingon: Ginoo, kinsa ba ang nakatoo sa ilang nadungog gikan kanamo, ug kang kinsa ba gikapadayag ang bukton sa Ginoo?" |
| For this reason they were unable to have belief, because Isaiah said again, | Busa wala sila makatoo, kay si Isaias miusab man sa pagsulti nga nag-ingon, |
| He has made their eyes blind, and their hearts hard; for fear that they might see with their eyes and get knowledge with their hearts, and be changed, and I might make them well. | "Iyang gibutaan ang ilang mga mata ug gipagahi ang ilang kasingkasing, aron dili sila makakita pinaagi sa ilang mga mata, ni makasabut pinaagi sa ilang kasingkasing, ni managpamalik kanako aron pagaayohon ko sila." |
| (Isaiah said these words because he saw his glory. His words were about him.) | Kini gipamulong ni Isaias tungod kay nakita man niya ang himaya ni Cristo ug misulti siya mahitungod kaniya. |
| However, a number even of the rulers had belief in him, but because of the Pharisees they did not say so openly for fear that they might be shut out from the Synagogue: | Walay sapayan niini, bisan gani sa mga punoan, daghan kanila ang misalig kaniya, apan tungod sa mga Fariseo kini wala nila itug-an, sa kahadlok nga tingali unyag palagputon sila gikan sa sinagoga. |
| For the praise of men was dearer to them than the approval of God. | Kay labi pa man ugod nilang gihigugma ang pagdalayeg gikan sa mga tawo kay sa pagdalayeg gikan sa Dios. |
| Then Jesus said with a loud voice, He who has faith in me, has faith not in me, but in him who sent me. | Ug si Jesus misinggit ug miingon, "Siya nga mosalig kanako magasalig dili kanako kondili kaniya nga mao ang nagpadala kanako. |
| And he who sees me, sees him who sent me. | Ug siya nga makakita kanako makakita kaniya nga mao ang nagpadala kanako. |
| I have come as a light into the world, so that no one who has faith in me will go on living in the dark. | Ingon nga kahayag mianhi ako sa kalibutan aron ang tanang mosalig kanako dili na magpabilin sa kangitngit. |
| And if any man gives ear to my words and does not keep them, I am not his judge: I did not come to be judge of the world but to give salvation to the world. | Kon kinsa ang magapatalinghug sa akong mga sulti ug dili magatuman niini, ako dili magahukom kaniya; kay ako wala man moanhi aron sa paghukom sa kalibutan, kondili aron sa pagluwas sa kalibutan. |
| He who puts me on one side and does not take my words to heart, is not without a judge: the word which I have said will be his judge on the last day. | Ang magasalikway kanako ug dili modawat sa akong mga sulti, siya adunay maghuhukom. Ang pulong nga akong gikasulti mao unya ang magahukom kaniya sa kaulahian nga adlaw. |
| For I have not said it on my authority, but the Father who sent me gave me orders what to say and how to say it. | Kay ako wala magsulti sa kaugalingon kong pagbulot-an, hinonoa ang Amahan nga mao ang nagpadala kanako, siya gayud mao ang naghatag kanakog sugo kon unsa ang akong igaingon ug unsa ang akong igasulti. |
| And I have knowledge that his order is eternal life: so that the things which I say, I say them even as the Father says them to me. | Ug ako nahibalo nga ang kahulogan sa iyang sugo mao ang kinabuhing dayon. Busa, bisan unsay igasulti ko, ginasulti ko kini sumala sa gisugo kanako sa Amahan." |
