Deuteronomy 27

Deuteronomy 27:1 ^
Then Moses and the responsible men of Israel gave the people these orders: Keep all the orders which I have given you this day;
Deuteronomy 27:1 ^
And Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandment which I command you this day.
Deuteronomy 27:2 ^
And on the day when you go over Jordan into the land which the Lord your God is giving you, put up great stones, coating them with building-paste,
Deuteronomy 27:2 ^
And it shall be on the day when ye shall pass over the Jordan unto the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set thee up great stones, and plaster them with plaster:
Deuteronomy 27:3 ^
And writing on them all the words of this law, after you have gone over; so that you may take the heritage which the Lord your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has said.
Deuteronomy 27:3 ^
and thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over; that thou mayest go in unto the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, as Jehovah, the God of thy fathers, hath promised thee.
Deuteronomy 27:4 ^
And when you have gone over Jordan, you are to put up these stones, as I have said to you today, in Mount Ebal, and have them coated with building-paste.
Deuteronomy 27:4 ^
And it shall be, when ye are passed over the Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and thou shalt plaster them with plaster.
Deuteronomy 27:5 ^
There you are to make an altar to the Lord your God, of stones on which no iron instrument has been used.
Deuteronomy 27:5 ^
And there shalt thou build an altar unto Jehovah thy God, an altar of stones: thou shalt lift up no iron [tool] upon them.
Deuteronomy 27:6 ^
You are to make the altar of the Lord your God of uncut stones; offering on it burned offerings to the Lord your God:
Deuteronomy 27:6 ^
Thou shalt build the altar of Jehovah thy God of unhewn stones; and thou shalt offer burnt-offerings thereon unto Jehovah thy God:
Deuteronomy 27:7 ^
And you are to make your peace-offerings, feasting there with joy before the Lord your God.
Deuteronomy 27:7 ^
and thou shalt sacrifice peace-offerings, and shalt eat there; and thou shalt rejoice before Jehovah thy God.
Deuteronomy 27:8 ^
And put on the stones all the words of this law, writing them very clearly.
Deuteronomy 27:8 ^
And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.
Deuteronomy 27:9 ^
Then Moses and the priests, the Levites, said to all Israel, Be quiet and give ear, O Israel; today you have become the people of the Lord your God.
Deuteronomy 27:9 ^
And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying, Keep silence, and hearken, O Israel: this day thou art become the people of Jehovah thy God.
Deuteronomy 27:10 ^
For this cause you are to give ear to the voice of the Lord your God, and do his orders and his laws which I give you this day.
Deuteronomy 27:10 ^
Thou shalt therefore obey the voice of Jehovah thy God, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command thee this day.
Deuteronomy 27:11 ^
That same day Moses said to the people,
Deuteronomy 27:11 ^
And Moses charged the people the same day, saying,
Deuteronomy 27:12 ^
These are to take their places on Mount Gerizim for blessing the people when you have gone over Jordan: Simeon and Levi and Judah and Issachar and Joseph and Benjamin;
Deuteronomy 27:12 ^
These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye are passed over the Jordan: Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin.
Deuteronomy 27:13 ^
And these are to be on Mount Ebal for the curse: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.
Deuteronomy 27:13 ^
And these shall stand upon mount Ebal for the curse: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.
Deuteronomy 27:14 ^
Then the Levites are to say in a loud voice to all the men of Israel,
Deuteronomy 27:14 ^
And the Levites shall answer, and say unto all the men of Israel with a loud voice,
Deuteronomy 27:15 ^
Cursed is the man who makes any image of wood or stone or metal, disgusting to the Lord, the work of man's hands, and puts it up in secret. And let all the people say, So be it.
Deuteronomy 27:15 ^
Cursed be the man that maketh a graven or molten image, an abomination unto Jehovah, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and setteth it up in secret. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.
Deuteronomy 27:16 ^
Cursed is he who does not give honour to his father or mother. And let all the people say, So be it.
Deuteronomy 27:16 ^
Cursed be he that setteth light by his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.
Deuteronomy 27:17 ^
Cursed is he who takes his neighbour's landmark from its place. And let all the people say, So be it.
Deuteronomy 27:17 ^
Cursed be he that removeth his neighbor's landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen.
Deuteronomy 27:18 ^
Cursed is he by whom the blind are turned out of the way. And let all the people say, So be it.
Deuteronomy 27:18 ^
Cursed be he that maketh the blind to wander out of the way. And all the people shall say, Amen.
Deuteronomy 27:19 ^
Cursed is he who gives a wrong decision in the cause of a man from a strange land, or of one without a father, or of a widow. And let all the people say, So be it.
Deuteronomy 27:19 ^
Cursed be he that wresteth the justice [due] to the sojourner, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.
Deuteronomy 27:20 ^
Cursed is he who has sex relations with his father's wife, for he has put shame on his father. And let all the people say, So be it.
Deuteronomy 27:20 ^
Cursed be he that lieth with his father's wife, because he hath uncovered his father's skirt. And all the people shall say, Amen.
Deuteronomy 27:21 ^
Cursed is he who has sex relations with any sort of beast. And let all the people say, So be it.
Deuteronomy 27:21 ^
Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say, Amen.
Deuteronomy 27:22 ^
Cursed is he who has sex relations with his sister, the daughter of his father or of his mother. And let all the people say, So be it.
Deuteronomy 27:22 ^
Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.
Deuteronomy 27:23 ^
Cursed is he who has sex relations with his mother-in-law. And let all the people say, So be it.
Deuteronomy 27:23 ^
Cursed be he that lieth with his mother-in-law. And all the people shall say, Amen.
Deuteronomy 27:24 ^
Cursed is he who takes his neighbour's life secretly. And let all the people say, So be it.
Deuteronomy 27:24 ^
Cursed be he that smiteth his neighbor in secret. And all the people shall say, Amen.
Deuteronomy 27:25 ^
Cursed is he who for a reward puts to death one who has done no wrong. And let all the people say, So be it.
Deuteronomy 27:25 ^
Cursed be he that taketh a bribe to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen.
Deuteronomy 27:26 ^
Cursed is he who does not take this law to heart to do it. And let all the people say, So be it.
Deuteronomy 27:26 ^
Cursed be he that confirmeth not the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.
